  • I was 14 or 15 when they hit the US. I saw them at their last concert in Washington, DC

  • the Beatles were cool

  • That looks like 1963, the song selection and styles.

  • this can´t be 1963.... 1965 more like it

  • @jbonham78 It was 1963. I was there.

  • who is this band? they're pretty good

  • @lionardi77 I'm sorry, but are you joking??? o.O

  • @Shiiinapple Calm down of cours I am

  • Ringo was one of the first to play the high-hat like a symbol. Loose and smooth hitting.

  • Considering the date of this concert and the microphones, this is okay sound quality. Paul's bass is punchy and cuts through. A typical Fender Jazz bass wouldn't do that then. They were so good at ADAPTING. Now that I've been a musician for almost 40 years - I appreciate the Beatles more than ever.

  • Kik As

  • Wow, you can really see the after-effects of their bennie days in Germany. They must have rejected the entire coordinated step idea. They learned to jive with the raucous German crowds and realized a whole new dimension of individual movement to the beat. But they really liked the German crowd participation. The Germans taught them that.

  • At the start the swedish are all like "Why ar'nt they speaking Swedish?"

  • Saw Her Standing There really is just about nothing but 7th chords. Love John's rhythm guitar; he gets so little credit for their beat and sound.

  • I'm from sweden. But i was born too late !!!

  • The kid at 8:50 (then again later) and the look on his face says it all!

  • At about 3:00, you can see the audience was really up close & personal.

  • they were remeber us to the last

  • October 30, 1963: The Beatles recorded an appearance for the Swedish TV show "Drop In", aired Nov 3. They performed "She Loves You," "Twist and Shout," "I Saw Her Standing There," and "Long Tall Sally." "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Long Tall Sally" are included on "The Beatles Anthology," Tape #2. The entire show is available on bootleg video.

  • Well one year later they screamed as hell in Sweden too :-)

  • This is insane, those musicians in the back are like 'what the fuck is going on???"

  • i'm kind of annoyed that George's guitar isn't loud enough.. you can barely hear it :O

  • wow quiet audience

  • wow

  • the best band ever!

  • This was just before The Beatles had their big brakethrough. That's why the audience is a tad "cooler" than usual. They've told the story many times in documentaries. They went to Sweden to do this show "Drop In" and and a short tour for five days. When they came back to England Beatlemania had started and they where greeted at Heathrow by hundreds of fans. It had never happened to them before in that way. Tons of recordings destroyed by that silly screaming... That's why I find this a real gem.

  • @C2Dlive have you seen the live in Australia video to the right? They were pretty wild. It's not just America.

  • Look at Pauls right hand in I Saw Her Standing There!

  • Wow. I wish i could've known them.

  • Tysta publiken var då!? :P

  • @alaTheViking Men orka att alla fangirls skriker på alla deras konserter! Undrar om det är någon typisk svensk grej?:P Bra kvalité på ljudet, tack vare tystnaden!! Aaahh...;)

  • Born in 1964........feeels like i´ve missed somethin´......;)

  • Bad day to be in that lame back-up band in the background.

  • Why do I always feel like I was born way too late ? I wish I was a teenager of the 60's instead, at least having a chance to go to one of their shows.

  • @TuvaJoanna me too :(

  • @TuvaJoanna You would never hear them as the screaming got way too loud!

  • idiot...share mic...??!!! they played on four channel equipment...

  • @magnusdering Not everyone is aware of this. You shouldn't call people idiots like that, it makes you look arrogant, like you know it all.

  • That's the first time I've ever seen a performer tell his audience to shush.

  • @StalePastafarian because it's "cold north spontaneous" audience ;)

  • @StalePastafarian at their final concert in Candlestick Park, they could not hear themselves

  • @StalePastafarian That occurred during any number of shows. And the audience knew it wasn't harsh.

And when Paul told an audience to clap their hands and stomp their feet, it was a cue to John to do his "crippled" "humor".

  • The guy at 9:00-ish was in shock, it was probably the greatest thing he ever experienced.

  • Ringo like a boss 9:36

  • No antention to Ringo :(

  • Why in so many beatle live shows was John's mike always louder than Paul's mike? It is irritating that they often couldn't get the balance right as the harmony should not be louder than the lead.

  • @kentaappel - I've always wondered why in all the pre-1967 stuff George had to share a mic with Paul. You'd think they could afford one more.

  • @TuberOnTheLoose Haha! It's got nothing to do with that. It's a visual thing. It looks cool! :)

  • @TuberOnTheLoose It wasn't their equipment.

  • @kentaappel It wasn't their equipment.

  • ringo's drumming is insane in long tall sally. can someone make a slomo on this hehe

  • Paul 0:20-0:35....<3

  • This is pure gold!

  • it's Fine

  • at 8:50 that man looks like he had something against the Beatles :O

  • @clubpenguinBoy11 yeah, and he shook his head at the end of it..

  • i want to live in 1963 :((

  • i love the audience. they just should up and let them play unlike the americans who destroy everything with their screaming

  • @C2Dlive This was 1963, one year before The Beatles went to the US. In 1964 the whole world screamed, also the americans.

  • @sailaway1966 Their first tour was in Sweden.

  • @TCfoxs Their first tour OUTSIDE Britain.

  • @C2Dlive swedish people hadn't heard about them back in 1963 -

  • @C2Dlive well, they're the beatles, i would FREAK if i saw them in 1963!

  • @C2Dlive The British and Australian fans screamed also.

You'd know that if you weren't born yesterday.

  • @JNagarya lol you're right

  • @JNagarya They did not scream in Australia. The Beatles were very surprised how silent they were.

  • @TCfoxs The footage of The Beatles in Australia are up. Watch them and you'll learn that the Australian fans screamed also.

Or be seen as having been born yesterday.

  • @C2Dlive it was also in the 60s.. you have to consider everything..

  • Comment removed

  • @C2Dlive DEAD AUDIENCE!STAND UP AND DANCE!THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!

  • @C2Dlive that's simply the way we swedes do (:

not destroying for anybody, just enjoying it together!

  • actually, starting from 7:10♥

  • 7:12 is so fucking sexy:DD♥

  • I wish I could go back in time to the 50s & 60s to see all these amazing artists like Elvis, Little Richard, Ritchie Valens, & especially The Beatles <3 I'm only 16 lol

  • @joandemijanet1 Buddy Holly would have outdistanced Elvis had he not been killed.

Elvis' "Sun Sessions" are worht investigating. Little after that stands up to critical evaluation.

  • hi

  • This is from a swedish show called Drop In, recorded october 30th 1963. At the time, they were practically unknown in Sweden, which explain the dull audience.

  • @prafjessor That's wild! Can you imagine what they felt like later when they found out how big The Beatles were!

  • Benjamas sim_gnam

  • Cool as you can actually hear them in this!

  • best band in the world..THE BEATLES : ]

  • rocks!

  • I love this video because you can see the poof in the other band get all upset that everyone's going bonkers over the Beatles (so much that they do an extra song), and no one gives a fuckin' shit about him. Haha. Fucking look at him, he's about to cry at around 8:55. Keep up a brave face, Ingrid.

  • Comment removed

  • @BarryDennen12 The show was actually scheduled to end at 8:55, but Ingrid and the other host, along with the Beatles decided to continue. The guy at the left was probably not hurt, just confused, as he was too far away to hear what the others discussed. This was a decision that was made in a matter of seconds, his reaction wasn't strange. Keep in mind that this was aired LIVE, so if they decided to play one extra song, the whole timetable for the channel that evening would've been delayed.

  • The version of "I Saw Her Standing There" sounds so much more primitive than the version that was finally released. It still sounds absolutely great and it is really cool hearing earlier live versions of all their most popular songs!

  • @niceguyfrb - u r correct he does switch from holding the pick from one hand to the other but that's after the bird. It is funny and who cares!

  • i am embarrassed to be swedish right now. they sit there like its.. not the fucking beatles.

  • if you will.. if you will. SH. if you will hahaha

  • FAN VA TORRA DEM ÄRRRRR JÄVLA PUBLIK! att dem måste BE publiken att klappa och stampa med. omg, jag skäms.

  • me hubiera gustado haber vivido esta gran epoca!

  • VIVA RINGO!

  • This is the reason The Beatles are the greatest band of all time. Possibly my pick as the best of all hours the live footage I've seen. Also, forget about the whole "lovable moptop thing" (although it's here, too)--in October of '63 The Beatles were the hardest rocking band on the planet by a mile.

  • Was this at a rest home? Geez....

  • 9:20 - 9:41 goes from go paul go! to go random guy go! to go ringo go!!!

  • 9:20 - 9:41 goes from go paul go! to go random guy go! to gy ringo go!!!

  • thumbs up if you're watching this in 2011

  • Go Ringo Go.

  • I was thinking along the same lines, but imagine that poor band having to follow the Beatles - the greatest band in history !!

Great to see the band waiting to come on all clapping along to the Beatles.

  • Comment removed

  • fuckin swedes have no beat whatsoever!!

  • @freedomfyter

    What!?

  • Sometimes in life, things come along that are indefinably and inimitably wondrous.

  • Comment removed

  • IT IS SOOOOO UNFAIR; WHY DID THEY GO TO SWEDEN, THEN NOT NORWAY??? *sigh* aldri.. jaja, kanskje like bra.. jeg hadde jo aldri sett dem uansett :( AHHW, the beatles, I love you soo! my highest wish is to be able to travel in time, an then to make myself inisible! then i'd be able to see everything!!! D: gah, why can't that just be POSSIBLE??? HVORFOR, HVORFOR, HVORFOR?

uhm, sorry, got a little upset.. but i'm sure i'm not the only one! buhu:(

  • can someone take me back 48 years ago please?

  • @tbsva152

You don't need to. You can still see Paul McCartney's and Ringo Starr's concerts. They're still allive.

  • @TCfoxs luckily i've seen paul in concert (best thing ever of course) but it's no the same, as seeing them together.

  • @tbsva152

    take me with you ;-D,

  • @tbsva152 just 38 years

  • @tbsva152 that's what i think everytime i watch The beatles live.

  • @tbsva152 I sometimes ask that same question! XD

  • JAJAJAJAJAA

"make a noise or something" this was because of they couldn't make the choir of voices in the chorus

  • My stephfather was there ;D

  • Comment removed

  • this puts a smile on ur face,,

  • I was there too, Im on the drums ! cheers Richie X

  • my math teacher was wear a beatles shirt and he asked who they were and no one but me knew, so i sat there and said ok so that is paul that is john that is fingo and that is george and they are the beatles (i got a sticker, i love my math teacher he is awasome)

  • Yes my Cat was at this gig too!! x

  • @gezbo66 WHAT THE HECK

  • Such a quiet audience. I guess the Swedes weren't ready for this type of shindig yet. They wouldn't go on and start ABBA until 1970. Then, not a peep until the Cardigans in 1992. I mean, for the love of Elvis, can you turn Paul's mic UP a notch? Geez.

  • ....there not screaming loud enough....

  • 2:40 Paul like a boss

  • Damn ladies in first row !!!! So lucky !!

  • Sin duda la mejor banda pulgar arriba si estan de acuerdo

  • great show!!!!

  • Justin bieber rape their hairstyle -.-

  • George's live solos are always way inferior to the records. The recorded solo to "Saw Her Standing There is awesome, totally energized and tight. He never comes close to that ever...

  • @sportsmediaamerica Good ear.....I've always noticed that, too. Don't know if that is a production gaffe or George just didn't cut loose.

  • hey mrguy561 don´t be stupid, i mean you are stupid. that´s ROCK AND ROLL

  • Whenever I see John sing Twist and Shout live, I cringe and think to myself "John, your poor vocal chords." :(

  • Hard to believe that these haircuts were considered so radical and harmful to youth, lol

(Paul always finds the camera...he loves it, it loves him)

  • MUITO LOCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ah yes, my life is complete. They've been in my country, I feel honoured<3

  • Check out Paul giving the finger with his left hand at about 2:32! Funny!! But man were they FABULOUS!

  • @DrRobertMPick No! He's just shifting the plectrum from left to right hand!

  • Paul saw his right hand.

  • juventud, divino tesoro........

  • That's what I said.

  • They were very close to the public!

  • @fisoangusmarde

Yeah back then that was normal because people were awesome, now nobody knows peace.

  • the swedes are VERY VERY laidback that is their nature but hey WHAT a band ...still the best after all these years , what McCartney is doing on bass on i saw her standing there is jaw dropping never mind also singing at the same time!!!

  • Long Tall Sally.

  • @cometandcupids Its called Long Tall Sally

  • whats the last song they preform called?

  • Comment removed

  • oh goodness the final numberrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

  • For once we can hear the lads, especially John!!!

  • George is such a sweetheart, wonderful boy, wonderful singer, wonderful musician, wonderful loyal friend

  • Watching this in a small venue, reminds me of a story I heard years ago that sometime in I believe 63 after they became famous they honoured an aggreement to perform live at a school for a nominal fee...

Has any one any info on this please ?

  • @dw69ful They performed at the prestigious boys school, Stowe in Buckinghamshire, 4 April 1963, at the request of one of their pupils, David Moores, who was from Liverpool. Fee: £100. (It has often been noted that Brian Epstein honoured all agreements made months in advance, when a lesser person might have sought to take advantage of their fast-escalating fame.)

  • 9:36-9:41 goo ringo :D

  • @ure279 hahahahaha :D

  • I love how the people in the front row are three feet away from THE Beatles, and not trying to rip them apart or anything...such wonderful self control!

  • Just remembered - the young guy dumbstruck at the USA concert was a hotdog seller or similar.

  • 1:40-1:50 that guy in the black sweater at the left corner, is he DRUNK?

  • @TheHoodieBro

He's overcome by the sheer awesomeness. There is a similar reaction shot in the US 'county fair' vid (I think it's that one) where a young guy reacts the same way. Very moving actually.

  • 7:11-7:14 = <3

  • My mom was in here!

  • @TheHoodieBro Oh my god, I'm so jealous, I swear I was born in the wrong decade.

  • @AndiiJBluv Lol. My mom even got a picture with the band!! BTW She is swedish.

  • @AndiiJBluv I know this might be off, but I'm half american half swedish half irish. LOL

  • @TheHoodieBro LOL

  • @AndiiJBluv MY DAD JUST DIED YESTERDAY.

  • @TheHoodieBro ok.. I'm sorry about that.
