Brent Spiner's character in "Alphas" was actually a more powerful Sonic Mutant than the "First Class" version of Banshee. He could bring down a whole building, pulverize concrete, boil water, and melt steel with his sonic powers.

It just felt like most of the other characters were there for "filler". They were not nearly as developed as Magneto or Sebastian Shaw. Jeez, it's a 91 minute movie, and about 15 of that is literally the credits. I don't know what the rush was all about...

@Wade23581 Well characters like Shaw and Erik/Magneto already have character history prior to the movie (though you're given a glimpse of it in the beginning of the movie). This movie is essentially the beginning for the students, they've only just been given the chance to really hone their powers. The students would have had no use/need for their powers and would have been hiding them to fit in, they haven't developed the skills. Also it's essentially Charles and Erik's film.

Magneto is just one of those rare villains you actually identify with and even feel sorry for him.

I thought they did an excellent job with him in this movie, BUT like a lot of other people, I thought the choice of "students" for the movie sucked. They were all so much weaker than Magneto, Shaw, and Azazel that their abilities seemed useless.

Sorry, if Magneto and Xavier are class 4 mutants, Banshee and Angel should be like a class 1 or something. That was pathetic.

I would like to see marvel bring the dark pheonix story to the big screen would really like to see her as the powerful world destroying firebird like she's dipicted in the early comics. they really missed the opportunity for a climatic ending in X-men 3. right after wolverine killed her she should have been reborn as the firebird and streaked like a nova star into the vast universe. she is a child born of the stars.

i think magneto is my favorite character...this music defines his character.so powerful sophisticated and cruel. his background story was well told here. the fact that he was a holocaust survivor was brilliant, in the death camps he witnessed how cruel humans have been to other humans. and through the death of his love for his mother his rage , power, and distain for humans was awakened. the alignment of mutants with jews in nazi germany reminds us how easily we let our fears destroy that which

I realize now why sabastian shaw spared him he found another mutant like himself. he killed his mother not because he hated jews but because he hated humans. and wanted to cut young magnetos emotional ties to humanity. it had an adverse effect magnetos love for his human mother was a force as strong as the hatred he had for sabastian shaw.
