Im sorry you had to remove the music from part 6.It was this kind of thing he disliked about the music companys. But the movie is wonderful and gives me more insite to the father I didnt know untill 1991.Again Thank you for this....
@oldbrentwood Thank you so much Kenny. I cannot express adequately what your response to this movie means to me. I am so happy you liked it. I can only hope that this modest attempt of mine leads to a greater appreciation of your father's musical spirit and talent.
This is Peter Neff who created "Fare Thee Well, Fred Neil."
I would like to talk to you if possible. If this is okay with you, would you send me your phone number at the email address below? Also a good time for me to call you. Thank you.
u see, yea, if u used those songs for your doc then nobody would go out and buy it......we'd put it on our home studio and edit out the music parts then burn them onto cd so we could shrink it onto an mp3 and listen tio it in our car.......this would present a great financial loss for poor struggling warner brothers
@posthumanhero I would've hoped that WBM would feel that this doc might inspire those interested in Fred to seek out his music and buy a CD or two which contain more of the music not presented here. So much music I wanted use but didn't...'Handful Of Gimme,' 'Yonder Come the Blues' 'Water is Wide' 'Ba-De-Da'...etc. I thought maybe they would appreciate it as an advertisement if you will...but no.
Ralph, You may be correct about that. It just so happens that that particular episode, 'Part 6,' contains three songs from the Elecktra albums, 'Tear Down The Walls,' and 'Bleeker and MacDougal' and they are the original recordings although the copy I used was made from the original LP-hence the crackling...which I personally like. Don't know about Fred Berney's collection. It seems Warners Music Group acquired the Elektra catalog.
Pete, I think it would behoove the Warner people to look out their window. The Occupy Wall Street marchers are meant for them too. I wonder if any of those recordings you had to remove are among those included in Fred Berney's collection.
Does the YouTube screening mechanism tag the original Warner Recording Group's album tracks? You might be able to use the Miami tracks Fred recorded.
Thank God that as yet they haven't figured out a way to withhold permission for one to remember those recordings. I've heard them so often and remembered them so well that I could imagine my own soundtrack...Thank you so much, Peter. Thank you for the labor, thoughtfulness and love you put into this project, so professional in its execution and so poignant to experience. i was privileged to see and hear him and now we all are fortunate to see this film, so well done and first-rate in every way.
