My mother didn't like this movie either, saying it was boring. I think I liked it mostly because of the music and the animation, and I know that I definitely liked the beginning of the movie more than the middle of the movie because I agree: it lost some of the magic it had in the beginning by the time Wall-E and Eva were criminals, but I still liked the movie. Pixar seems to be trying to move their movies in a more serious direction, one that adults will, maybe, appreciate more than kids.
I'm in the "masterpiece" crowd with Wall-E, but this is definitely a valid criticism about the second half of the movie. The first third or so when it makes you recall old Chaplin films is definitely the strongest part of the movie.
I would definitely be inclined to consider this film a masterpiece of our day, but not a masterpiece of all ages such as, say, The Godfather or Schindler's List.
An axiom or postulate is a proposition that is not proved or demonstrated but considered to be either self-evident, or subject to necessary decision. Therefore, its truth is taken for granted, and serves as a starting point for deducing and inferring other (theory dependent) truths.
The best and most honest review I`ve seen about walle. Way overhyped, I left the theater a little dissapointed because of the praise of the critics, I was expecting a masterpiece.... it was just an OK movie.
my little cuz, who is 8, went to see it wit her dad and then dragged me too it again!!! i liked it, but not a classic like some have said!! but a must see 4 kids!!!

wow tht was a bad review. It seems like u dont like any of the hyped up movies even if they r really good. U didnt give one good con for y u didnt like it. the only con u said was "it turned into a chase movie". ur making it sound like it lost depth but this is the most in depth pixar movie to date. u need to start explaining ur views especially if u dont like it. i have no problem with someone disagreeing with me but they have 2 have to make a good point
Wow. I am really surprised that they didn't 'get' this movie. It really was about a love story between WALL•E and EVE. The side story was about how we ruined the planet for our own selfish pleasures and consumerism. What too many people didn't realize is that the people weren't stupid, they were just detached. They were also fat because of atrophy and bone loss (and yes, lack of physical activity), but mostly the first two as a result of living in space for generations.
It's worth a re-watch. For all it's lack of dialog, Wall-E had an amazingly complex and well thought-out story and back story, many elements of which have to be inferred from pantomime scenes or background elements. Nothing is given to you straight, so, it seems like there are some vague plot holes and inconsistencies at first, but all the loose ends are tied at some point, it's just sometimes it's hidden.
Isn't taking things to extremes what animators do? Cushioning a disturbing exaggeration within a love story may have been the most child-like thing in a movie that was not about trash or robots, but rather isolation, connectedness & hope.
I saw the 2nd half as the same. Robots continued filling the gap in personality & relatedness while humans acquiesced to soul-less isolation. While less melodramatic, the romance between Wall-E and Eve was so touching that I didn't feel any lack.
Great review. I'm very interested in seeing the movie now, to see for myself whether it really is as good as everyone says, or whether it's been so well received just because it's a Pixar picture. I get the feeling I'll end up with similar thoughts as the Geezers.
A few comments: How old children need to be? For children, they watch movies for a different reason. My 8 year old daughter LOVED it, but because of the scenes and small plots, not the big ones.
The plant signified that the sun was getting through and the Earth could support life again. Little about the plant really.
And I'm one of those people who thought the love story was awesome.
I really enjoyed the movie. Even though your views aren't mine, I love how you presented them. 5 stars.
sigh i find it somewhat sad that a lot of people consider animation merely directed at kids..is it that hard to think of animation as a medium rather than merely cartoons for children? still, i understand what they mean about kids not getting it (if they mean very young kids though)..I'm curious though, is Wall-e distributed as a children's movie or is it merely the movie rating that gives it that image?
so WALL-E wasn't a disney movie?! im sorry but i didnt see it lol. i think the only child movies that i can see are the classic disney animal movies like FINDING NEMO (its my favorite)

I sat in front of some young kids and they were constantly asking where Wall-E was, why was he there. By the time they got to the B&L spaceship, they were thoroughly bored. I think with good reason: the film is morally muddled, and the antagonist is not a clear Bad Guy. Think Bond movie... what is B&L's objective... Kids need clarity to root for the Good Guys; in this case it was ersatz tension.
Wall-E was a good movie but I sure expected a lot more after hearing all the praises. I can't agree with the general notion that it's Pixar's best but still it was a good one.
A little bit off topic here but Marcia, I wish you read my screenplay :)
I always get so happy when I see a new video from you two show up in my subscriptions! :) Whether I've seen the movie, agree or disagree, you never fail to entertain me!
im hitting middle age, and i loved the movie...my nephew is 7, and he loved the movie...bet that 9 year old is a moron...and i love the geezers, and hope that the houdini film is a hit when it goes wide
no, I only said something because so many people are saying it incorrectly, even on the Disney Channel, and I think it's disrespectful to the creators of the movie to have their work mis-interpreted, and represented incorrectly. It's just like if someone prononced your name wrong, you would nicely correct them with the correct prononciation.
They suck.

The Geezers typically get it, but this time they missed the point. They wanted a fun movie; Wall-e wasn't a fun movie! It was really sad.
My own daughter cried watching this. She cried for the Earth, for the people on the cruise ship, for Wall-E and Eve.
It's the first time these reviewers have blown it.
