I'm not an old fan, I've only heard Kaizers for half a year, yet I also think that, although the new stuff is good, it's just not the Kaizers I fell in love with. If I heard this song rather than Bak et Hallelujah when I first discovered them, then maybe I wouldn't have fallen for them. I guess it's just nostalgia for the gypsy rock.
theyre music has changed, from Mafia inspired music to more pop stylish music, not that the new ar bad, i enjoy them but i miss the trashy old dark rock kaizer, but this is still a good song.
I think this is one of the best songs in the album! Amazig what Janove have done this time. Everybody is talking of the "old" Kaizers, but what are you talking about? Is it everything before this one, or the really old from 2001? I think they have showed big steps musicaly and vocaly. The songs are not like Sigøynerblod and simular songs, but do you realy want that? If they suddenly have started making new gypsy music it would be boring because they are so much better than that. Love this song!
well, alot of the coments below says that they have left their old sound, but this is their 6th album and they have to change their style along the way. I think that´s a positive thing as long as they don´t go more mainstream/pop. And keep in mind that they just have published 3 of their new songs, so who know what´s in store for the rest of the album! I think change is good and if I want to listen to old kaizers, I listen to old kaizers. I think the new album will blow the head of most of us =D
Actually, Janove just stated that they did in fact NOT use drums at all while recording, and only oil barrels. This means that those of you who complains that there is not enough barrels; You'll get your fix!
I hope the other songs on this album are catchier. I love that they're never afraid to change sounds, it keeps them from going stale, but I can't say I;m a fan of this song at all.
Continued: And people need to realize that a band has to develop if they want to remain on top! Would Pink Floyd have been the band they where if they stuck to the style of The Pipers at the Gates of Dawn consistently? No! They developed, and gave us gems like Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Where Here, Animals, and The Wall! Let's just wait untill the album is out before we pass judgement, ok?
Dont understand what people mean when they say that this doesnt sound like Kaizers. I think this song takes all the atmospheric and rythmic elements that make Kaizers unique, and boils it down to it's rawest and purest form, free from all foreign elements that make them sound a bit too much like Tom Waits than they should. And we don't know if they've stopped using the oil barrels yet! As far as I know, not all songs from the previous albums had oil barrels in them either.
When I first heard this song I thought it was a little... off, you know? But I listened to it a bit more and know I can't get enough! The very best song aren't hits. The best songs in the world are the ones that grow on you. And these 3 new songs have that quality. I felt the same way back in the "Maestro days" when i listened to Papa har Lov. I love that song!
P.S. "Du vett alt du kan drømma kan henna. Akurat som alt som er vakkert kan brenna!"
Jeg husker at jeg var drit frelst da Maskineri kom ut, men da jeg hadde hørt på det ca like mye som resten, skjønte jeg at jeg hadde skrytt det litt for mye opp i skyene ;)
Very complex song. Good groove. Much better than "Sju bötter...". It's dark and cool. But maybe needs some catchiness to it? I second Kikkipus. "work in progress" (which it obviously is, since it's not really recorded yet).
Okay this probably will be a very unpopular comment but I hope that some people will give it a thought anyway...
Now I wouldn't dare saying that this one, or any of the new songs are 'bad' but I'd say that they're not as ..well, 'catchy' as the old ones, and i miss that a bit :(
Me personally i LOVED (and still do) any song of the first three albums. That dark and up-tempo gipsy/ompa sound, it was so great. Like 'Resistansen', 'Katastrofen' or 'Sigoynerblod' I wished it'd be back a bit more..
And since a single comment on Youtube is too short, i'll give it another go and explain a bit further:
When you listened to the old tunes, you felt like they were telling a story. Now I don't speak a word of norwegian but that somehow never got me in the way. The old tunes just got you and.. I don't know how to explain.
I also miss a lot of the old 'style' in instruments. A lot of the oil barrels is gone, the empty bottles and don't know what.
@thomascroy I had the same initial thoughts. I love the dark, depthy sound of their earlier work, and the three new songs buzzing around Youtube, while still good, don't quite have that. But then, these are early concert versions of the songs that are probably not as refined as they will be. I'm hoping that by the time the album is released, these songs will have reached their potential greatness. :). This band is indubitably one of my favorites, and I'm extremely excited about the new album.
@thomascroy Just wanted to leave a short reply to your comment :) I agree to some extent, but I think this recording(Which was recorded with a single mic) on a rehearsal can't be reviewed,I think the next record is going to be insane! These songs were fantastic and very catchy live.If you didn't see them perform these three songs live, it's hard to hear how good these songs really are. But I think if you like the old ones best, you're going to be pleased, the next album is closer than the last one
@thomascroy Every band has to move on and explore new styles. I will probably miss it a bit, but you still have the old music and I think it is a good thing for Kaizers to try out new music. They have played the ompa sound for ten years, it's good with a change:) Can't wait for the new album :D

I see what you mean, but hey this isn't the entire album! the rest might just be barrels and ompa you know, just like the old days :D
they're probably keeping the best songs til the album comes out!
