My family just started dancing about 10 years ago but I have to give the group applause for excellence , although I wish the lights were brighter as the man of the family those moves took me years to get , thanks post more , it's been so long
For those who don't know........this young lady, trained with the Afrikan-American Drum and Dance Ensemble, Inc out of Cincinnati, Ohio. How do I know, I was one of her teachers.
Not that I need to prove a point, but I can post it for you. Most people think African dancing is "wild" when actually it is very stylized. The dancer can perfect it. Whatever, it's good.
Word. I've been paying attention to this stuff for a long time too, lived in guinee, etc. My vote is that she's a beautiful dancer. Her solo had time and grace--especially on the fast parts. I feel like the only people in this video who really need training are the audience members sitting still in their chairs :)
I do agree that most people think African dance is "wild", but I don't know how much you know about the dance from Guinea. Sorsonet is very well danced by her, all the steps are originals and one special thing about this type of African dance is: there is not just a single form how this particular step has to look like. Every dancer dances it with his/her own personality.
Anyway it is not very nice to comment about someones elses ability in such patronizing way.
I know all about dance from Guinea, it's my ethnicity. There is a difference between adding your own style and just doing the moves wrong. The whole purpose of posting videos is to get feedback, not just compliments. Its only one's opinion, and please believe I stand on mine.
Really, were you born in Guinea? Whereabouts? I also don't think that the dancer put the video online so that someone can give her an "A for effort" and the hint that she "hasn't had much training". I spent quite some time in Guinea and trained with dancer from Les Ballet's Africaine and Ballet Djoliba, sure there are better dancers but she is dancing it all fine. Where did you learn?
this guy drummed for us in AZ his hands are THICK, drum everyday he said, dont stop. but guess what Mamady keita's hands are soft, ya gotta be a whip on that drum
Girl you better work that big beautiful full figure. whouuouou...you are beautiful and you define us for us. give thanks... and fode...well you just already know. you are the stuff. the wings for the dancer to fly on. give thanks...from rehem
Most of the Troup was from Ivory Coast... on this particular piece the male dancer is from Guniea the woman is from Cinncinati... the drummers are from Ivory Coast except for the lead drummer Fode Bangoura, from Guniea. Stay tuned for more to follow .
This is brilliant! How good to see the real thing online...
