What is this barrier between salt water and fresh? Is there any scientific evidence for it?

There is no barrier. In fact, if the fresh water stops flowing or slows down, salt water DOES enter the fresh - this HAPPENS in Australia during droughts.
Well actually there IS a momentary barrier. Differences in saline saturation etc. It's easily visible when seeing a river flow into a lake, or two rivers flow together. You can see the water not merging.
But what the quran fails to mention, and any muslim advocating it, is this barrier is NOT PERMANENT! The water does equalize, it does merge, then it's gone.
It's perfectly natural, it's perfectly visible by the naked eye, and it's perfectly NOT a miracle.
A momentary barrier? What you describe as a being able to see salt and fresh water momentarily not merging sounds awfully like, well, salt and fresh water merging!
No one claims that salt and fresh water INSTANTLY mix on contact to form a mixture all at once. If the barrier lasts no longer than mixing water with wine, then there is no barrier, surely?

Well actually there IS a momentary barrier. Differences in saline saturation etc. It's easily visible when seeing a river flow into a lake, or two rivers flow together. You can see the water not merging.
But what the quran fails to mention, and any muslim advocating it, is this barrier is NOT PERMANENT! The water does equalize, it does merge, then it's gone.
It's perfectly natural, it's perfectly visible by the naked eye, and it's perfectly NOT a miracle.

No one claims that salt and fresh water INSTANTLY mix on contact to form a mixture all at once. If the barrier lasts no longer than mixing water with wine, then there is no barrier, surely?

What you need to say is that it's not true that only mohammad spoken to by god could have known about this. As it's easily visible in any river serving as a junction to multiple streams, or inlets from a lake or ocean.
It's a common place thing that mohammad tried to pass off as divine knowledge as everything else he claims only god could know. Or any reader attempting to claim likewise.

Brother, just a clarification. If there are TWO SEES having a direct contact, they don't mix. Science has proved ( Oceanology) that when fresh and salt seas are in contact, the water molecules change to the other sea's characteristics in a continuous manner, so each sea preserves its characteristics as if there is a barrier.

Brother, just a clarification. If there are TWO SEES having a direct contact, they don't mix. Science has proved ( Oceanology) that when fresh and salt seas are in contact, the water molecules change to the other sea's characteristics in a continuous manner, so each sea preserves its characteristics as if there is a barrier.

yes in the glass. but not in the ocean. different current with different salinity didnt mix. they flow separately. Like hot air and cool air just dont mix right away. they flow separately which cause wind even tornado.

Matter a fact it could be argued that science in itself doesn't have evidences rather it uses evidence to back the claim of its theory. The reason I said that was. Just because something was known does not negate the fact that Qur'an should affirm what's right from what's wrong.
The Qur'an is deep. For instance, where God says He created the Universe in 6 days. The qord Ayam or Yaum. Could even mean ERAS or collosal amounts of time.
Unless you use the Arabic and disprove that way. There is no Qur'an you're refuting :P

There is no need to refute the Koran or Qu'ran since it's a work of fiction.
I just take comfort that the non-Islamic 'civilized world' has developed onto what it is today because we weren't held back by primitive medieval wacko's that currently reside in the middle east.
Thankfully we have the technology to steamroll the middle east. Reduce them to a smoldering layer of glass, and air-bomb Mecca till it's 200m below sea level. I'll even say Allah Akbar on that day for the irony!

Isn't it fortunate that the ancient Arabic moon-god chose the most ambiguous local dialect in the world, where a simple word like "day" can be translated as "Week" Month" Year" "Space Shuttle" "age" "Era" "fender Guitar", how convenient!
I assume "sun setting in hot muddy springs" can be translated as "The Earth rotates on its axis in its orbit of the Sun.
PLEASE, free yourself. The only depth in the Qur'an is the thickness of the paper it is written on. Again, I thank god I'm an Atheist.

Well that would justify the act from an atheistic viewpoint. But surely the prophet of a religion should be held to absolute standards of morality, he wouldn't just do something that was immoral yet culturally acceptable at the time.
If the final prophet of god married a 9 year old then it must always moral to marry a 9 year old. I'm leaving sex out of this cos I don't know if they consummated or when...
