It's SO absurd to say that "God" instigates any kind of natural disaster. They're perfectly normal and natural. That's why we call them NATURAL disasters...not "horribly punitive and punishing disasters." Why are the Muslims trying to take credit for Pompeii?
This was 600 years before they created the Allah myth!
I guess it's because if they see something get blown up, and innocent people killed, it just seems like something Muslims would do.
But the truth is, they didn't do it!
It was a volcano (which is real!) and not Allah (who is not real!).

Prophet Muhammad once said that God (Allah) doesnt want any muslim to attack other people, unless being attacked first. It is a religion of peace, not fighting. Got good news. At least it was saved from the strict roman sexuality laws that would've made them lose all that. And they never had to face the middle ages. Though it is sad that so many died, and such a great city was lost.
Amazing the imagery they left behind though on the walls and stuff.

Being in Latin class, I've been learning a lot about Pompeii and it's citizens. And I must say, this video was exceptional. The music used, the visuals, superb. A great job.
As for you religious nuts, let it go. Whether Pompeii was killed by some 'creator' or not, it doesn't affect us that much. It was a tragedy, plain and simple. And as for they not escaping, they thought it was 'divine punishment' as some of you have stated.

As the God would know that that same year, the new Emporer of Rome was way more conservative, and was putting an end to the shenanagins. At least they never had to stop the fun, they and instead they lived their life their own way until their sad end. The only God if there was one, would be Vesuvius himself, that killed them, though is a volcano a god?

It was clearly a punishment from the Gods.
Given that it was a volcano, I would suggest they angered Vulcan. He most likely sent down the poisonous gasses from his forge, thus why so many died so quickly. Those that survived no doubt petitioned Neptune for mercy.

There had not been an eruption of Pompeii previous to this by 800 years, though other earthquakes may have happened. There was not even a world in Latin for "volcano", though they knew of Etna and Stromboli without a doubt.

If you look closely at the inner decore it was conservative, but surely *mean, the colours were very rich and had symmetry. Even in the details of their artifacts the artist took the time to notice, and these arts found scattered throughout Pompeii and elsewhere, so there were souls who appretiated delicate love such as this. If it weren't so it would not have survived to tell the story of the civilization.

Two other fascinating volcanic eruptions are those of Krakatoa (1883) and Thera (aka Santorin or Stronghyle, c.1450 BC) - both (especially Thera) much bigger than this. The island of Stronghyle, before it was destroyed by the eruption, may have been the fabled Atlantis. Archaeological evidence suggests it probably was.
