So now pretty much even though I still eat "bad" foods sort of frequently I'm having much less of them and less often. Without forcing myself. And I have found the gym. 3-4 times a week it is my me time. I always leave happy.
I think this is a brilliant message. I feel like after years of gaining weight and being scared of diets because every time I was on one I would just feel so drained & deprived. I started just going with what I wanted plus just a little amount of conscious thought to choose more fruits & veg.
Here's the thing about diets. Its not about "dieting" its about changing your lifestyle.
Now i dont know about u, but i was fat because i ate too much bad food (rice, spaghetti, bread, chicken skin, icecream, chocolate, sodas) and did no excercise at all. I ate big meals, and went to sleep afterwards.
To lose weight, i didnt go to any weight program people. That was never ever an option. I didnt even visit a dietrician/nutricionist or join a gym, dance class, or aerobics class.
I lost 50 pounds in 5 months, and its no exaggeration.
It was hard, and frustrating, and sometimes, yes, I was hungry.
But i think u need to make your OWN plan and watch what ur doing, and make something convinient for u that u can stcik to and that works with ur schedule.
Little things go far- u just have to say bu-bye to all those starchess with no nutitional value. The longer u go without them, the less u'll miss them- trust me.
I do agree that people shouldnt be hated for being fat. I was in that position and it hurt so much. I also dont think u should put ur life on hold until u lose weight.
BUT i dont see how someone can be 300 pounds and healthy. If these people really are eating as well and excercising as much as they claim to, they wouldnt be that big.
As i said- its about lifestyle changes, and not fad diets. When u can see the difference, then u'll be able to lose the weight. Not easy at all, but very simple.
@bjesgirl Come back in 7 years and let us know if you've maintained your weight loss. And please let us know, also, if the weight crept back up despite sticking to your new lifestyle. I promise not to think you're lying if you say that it did.
great post. I gave up dieting long ago, and though I sometimes long to be thin, I do love my body that I live in today. It doesn't mean I have given up on joyful exercize (yoga and swimming) and mindful eating. See you at NAAFA!
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I will be sharing your video in our next NAAFA newsletter. I think it's good for long time NAAFA members to hear of the journey of young people such as yourself as you learn to accept yourself exactly as you are!
This is the approach that I am going to focus on in my videos. And this is the approach that I use daily. It's really on target. The first thing is to eat when your body actually gives you its "physiological signals" of hunger. But it also means to be physically active because it feels great to do so, and to accept the genetics/body that you are meant to have. I am still recovering from the effects of dieting, 6 months later. My body's internal cues are really messed up from it.
wow fat people have rights too? what is happening to the world I used to know.

"diets don't work"? The aggregate of what you eat is a diet, whatever it is you're eating. :-S

I replaced all the rice, potatoes and spaghettis with boiled spinach, beans, and salads.
I only have a table spoon of dressing with my salad.
Instead of snacking on icecream and cake, i snack on grapes and apples.
I take out the yolk when i make egg breakfast.
I eat wheat bread instead of white bread.
I dont eat pork or beef anymore, no fried foods. I bake skinless chicken or fish.
I make sure to power walk for at least one hour EVERY day. Not 4 or 5 times, every single day.

"Diets" dont work, but lifestyle changes DO.

So professional NFL players are probably out of condition, then, when they get to 300lbs as a nose tackle?

Good discussion about HAES. Also nice how you address that it can be difficult going from a dieting mentality to trusting one's body.
