The fact that there are people saying that money was wasted doing this are just..... Hopeless? This was a pretty cool training piece and showed the precision the robot has. Seems like a good video to me!

so i have to pay tens of thousands of dollars to to get a minor surgery and you guys use a multi million dollar tool without anyone paying for it, for fun?! i hope both you catch sarcoidosis
Funny how the Asian chick is the one operating the robot instead of the white guy. Asians and their natural talent at video games wouldn't have ANYTHING to do with that...
For certain a "donated" teaching tool (aka "write off") from Intuitive Surgical, Inc.. After all, its new technology and the more students who train on one, the more sales down the road to hospitals when those students graduate and become in charge of decision making for new capital equipment down the road......
@sirbruce1970 Good eye, the arm wasn't grounded. We just wanted to show the dexterity of the tools. We could have grounded the tool, but because this is a 2 million dollar research device, we decided not to. :D Cheers, Graduate Students at Johns Hopkins Engineering
Wish my doctor was that fine.

I love the 1950's music to along with the idea of using robots for everything. Also who knew there were such cute girls in robotics?

@jbdranger Dude, these are the same types of people who are gonna be saving your friggin lives. And that robot isn't operating on someone 24/7.
DoctorWeeTodd 10 months ago 2
@jbdranger Oh you wanna know what the military and police do with bomb disposal robots? Race them, and even make pancakes with them.
santafenewmexican.co m/LocalNews/Robot-challenge
Those things cost $225, 000.
And doing stuff like that trains the technicians and demonstrates their versatility.
DoctorWeeTodd 10 months ago 2
@jbdranger It's a training device you moron. Too bad you can't read or you would've noticed that.

jarthos123 11 months ago
@jarthos123 you are correct, people should train on real patients
zaphoid33 11 months ago
@zaphoid33 Thank you for understanding my position. I mean really, why not simply train on homeless people?
jarthos123 11 months ago
But... the robot isn't using the attached probe... so it won't complete the circuit... so even if it touches the sides it won't set off the buzzer...
