@cooliodude96529 Actually, the individual cores are SLOWER on a Quad core, having 4 of them if nice for multi-tasking but if you play an older game that doesnt support Quad or Dual core, the faster single core speeds of Dual core can be very usefull :D
Badly need help plz...i want to know which type or processor will be the best for my G41-M7 motherboard LGA 775 sockets (the Intel Core 2 Quad, the Intel core 2 Duo, Pentium Dual Core or the Celeron Dual-core...Plz help
core 2 duo is faster pound for pound compared to core 2 quad.
only buy a core 2 quad if you are going to use all 4 cores otherwise you are buying a slower cpu unless you spend a lot of money.
for £100 you can pick up a 3.0GHz core 2 duo while for £100 you can only get a 2.3GHZ core 2 quad. If you are going to be multitasking then go for the core 2 quad which but if you are going to be playing games the core 2 duo is faster as games currently only use 2 cores :)
@ryanbryne Lol.... dont see the Ghz lol.... 1.80 Ghz core 2 quad = 3.20 core 2 duo perfomance lol.... Core 2 quad better and get more fps to play Newest games lol.... exepct u play underground 2, crashday, San andreas.etc. lol..... i get core 2 duo 2.93 Ghz last month and play underground 2 frm 35 fps- 60 fps lol and i get core 2 quad at 45 fps - 60 fps lol....
and i get 17.4 fps [average] benchmarks on GTA 4 and 24.9 fps [average] benchmarks lol...
@idbenomar I'm not meaning this bad or anything, but I used to have a Pentium 4 3.4GHz until I decided to upgrade since I finally had the money. I got an Intel Core 2 Quad 2.83GHz and I was amazed at the speed increase. I'm telling you where to spend your money, but just letting you know. I almost wet myself on the speed increase.
@W40Kluvr With a quad core you can load faster and if your using high end Video card's like a HD 5970 or 5870 Youll need a faster CPU if you dont wanna bottleneck your GPU
and it is also needed for Physic's if you are playing a physic's massive game like Half life 2

@alanibanez 3.4ghz. The cache is calculated as a cycling spins that help the processor, something like the RAM does. Cache and RAM are helpers, but not the brain. so always aim for higher GHZ
nob question: I have a core 2 duo processor on my toshiba satellite laptop. Can i just buy an i5 processor and upgrade my memory to 4 gib of ram without changing anything else?
@bl3ujay07 if the socket will fit yes it will support it, you will have to update the bios for the 4gb ram tho most bios are set for the 2, it will not read the 4 gb on most cases until you go to your manufacturing website and update the bios. do that before even upgrading the ram.
I just like to double check on the processor my motherboard can handle I have a GA-945GZM-S2 Socket 775. On the manuf. website the motherboard Support Intel® Core™ 2 Duo* / Pentium® D Processor. Ok I got this part. But on a defferent website it said it Supports Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme dual-core / Core™ 2 Duo / Pentium® D / Pentium® 4 / D processors. Is Extreme dual core different then core 2 duo? I'm thinking about purchasing Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 3 GHz 1333MHz 6 MB LGA775 CPU
the i7 is fine, its not that expensive, and dont u think a i7 at 4.2ghz will last a little longer then a i5? the i7 is extreamly easy to clock (atleast the 920 one) with air cooling up to 4.4ghz without even changing the vcore on some of them, or just changeing it very very little, think water cooling on that <.<
Core 2 Quad is still faster than Intel i3. Intel i3 is the low budget chip. also 2 core design. It cannot outperform the Core 2 Quad since these are still high end Cpu's.
ah no my brother got an i3 and i got an 8400 and MY cpu is faster .
and when you look at cpu ranking list you see that the e8400 perform better...
and its better to overclock and when you overclock the e8400 to 3.6 ( thats no prod you dont have to ge a good mainboard and you dont have to get cpu cooler its perfect to oc cause its very ..oc friendly^^
you can get with an e8400 @ 3.00 ghz low quads and with 3.6 or 4ghz lo-mid quads,
A Core 2 Quad with higher clock speeds can beat an Intel Core i3. And also, a quad core can take advantage of using quad core to perform demanding multitasking applications instead using dual core with hyper-threading enabled. Also, an overclocked Core 2 Quad such an example to 4.2 GHz with aftermarket cooling can beat the newer CORE i5 Processors. With this, no wonder you can still use the Core 2 Quad for years without breaking the bank to buy newer Intel processor.
Well, Core i7 is definitely the enthusiasts' choice when it comes to the high-end, but it's still quite a bit up there in price right now. Though for the rest of us, the Phenom II X4 or the Core i5 is a great choice for quad-cores on a budget. They perform very well and can overclock like a champ.
so which is better? intel core2 duo? or intel quad core? or intel i7? they dropped the old intel core duo replaced with intel core2 duo..which is better from 1 being the best n 2 and 3 being the lesser.
for gaming , pick the largest number of core , since your gonna run a lot of application at the same times , like Core i7 , which has 8cores , or Core 2 Quad, for those who are on a budget
It's smart enough to know how to distribute the workload effectively isn't it?
So whether it's 2 or 8 threads it'll demolish a task.
I'd take the Core i7-860, since it has trusted execution and it's even faster than a 920 for $1 more, plus you can get a free copy of RE5 with it right now.
the i5 is n gaming faster but the i7 in rendering ..
gor an i7 you pay 200- 950 euro and for an i5 may 170 euro
amd phenom 2 x4 965 cost 150 euro and fuck the i5 .... and for 20-40 euro more you get and amd phenom 2 x6 on an new sockelt wich is akktuell the nex 2 years and the 1156 is then stone age .
i would yought amd its cheaper and no so an criminal ( unternehmen ) like intel.
im getting tired of dual core gaming vs quad core . if a game can only use 2 cores. the core 2 quad will not have any advantage or disatvantage both will perform exactly the same. how ever if the game is made for quad. consider the dual core raped. but most games use 2 cores. so imo. get a dual core. unless you want to use big graphics cards and alot of them
r u kidding the e7400 is a much better buy, higher FSB,compatible with DDR2 or 3 (future proofing) and a hell of a lot of other features built on chip. If you can afford it go for the e7600
core 2 quad becouse quad stands for 4 cores which are at 2.66 ghz in your case, where core 2 duo has 2 cores at 2.80ghz.
but it also depends what you want to do...
if youre a simple gamer that plays games like gta 4 and all this core 2 duo is enough. but if youre someone that plays games with fairly big requirements or you want to be running loads of programs at the same time get the quad.
and for the sake of being fair i take back the junk critic about intels 65w+ dekstop chips but they are powerdraining overpriced and have RF heat issues as you go up in watts, that much is true
a Ram Drive is not a HDD- WTF- Thats like me saying ok- then ill paird Dual Intel 64GB Super Server SSD's Drives and put them in raid-0 as the benchmark. lol. No- You take that Intel Atom- Pair it with a regular 7200 RPM hard drive and load Crysis on it. Also take that same HDD and put it in a an Intel Core 2 Quad system, then put an older 80GB drive and do the same thing. I guarantee you, a Hard Drive from 10 years ago, from 1999 would still work in most of todays PC's no problem.
greater freedom to control TDPvolts / frequency on a 130w cpu and being able to bring it down to 45w without it drifting out of operation would thwart many consumer frustrations.
Of course there will always be better performance to be had, but again, that doesn't stop and begin at HDD's performance. As far as you calling Desktop CPU's garbage because their rated TDP is over your liking but guess what- Modern day CPU's Smoke the shit out of your Favored ATOM which is actually closer in similiarity to a PPU and that of the Cell than a monolithic die. Modern day cpu's have even built in the memory controllers for higher bandwidth to limit bottlenecks.
The point is its useless to get an i7 because youll get the same computing experience with a p4 unless you get a wd raptor an iram or a ramsan and put it in your p4 or i i7
if hdd speed did not dictate pc speed texas instruments would have not built the ramsan
to eliminate the pc bottleneck
A gigabyte IRAM can boot windows XP in 4 seconds flat TRY THAT WITH WITH A CORE I7 AND A GTX 280 4GIGS OF RAM AND A BASIC HDD and youll realize it cannot be achieved. STORAGE SPEED DICTATES PC SPEED
ALL Duo Core SUCK no matter how much GHz and and quad cores are the best 6 core are slower than quad core DOESN'T MAKE SENCE also I you have 64-bit you'll need 4gb DDR2 or 3 or I wount be usful at all

Which one is better?

JPSG3 1 year ago
@rocketman5011 depends on what you do most of time.
if you do a lot of enconding, videos, 3d and photo editing. then the q8400 is the way to go.
else that if you play games, surf the web and type some word documents. the e8400 is way better.
see it this way. 65w on cpu, become 32,5w on a dual core and 16,25 on a quad.
higher watts mean better performance. also the e8400 got 6 megs shared.
the Q8400 got 3 megs for each 2 cores. 2*3=6.
hope it help!

so which is better? intel core2 duo? or intel quad core? or intel i7? they dropped the old intel core duo replaced with intel core2 duo..which is better from 1 being the best n 2 and 3 being the lesser.
razehey 2 years ago
@razehey
First of all making this simple.
Intel Core Duo>>> Improvements..Core 2 Duo>>> for those who wanted more cores... Core 2 Quad which are 2x times Core 2 Duo on 1 processor chip.
New architecture and design with onboard memory controller. Intel i7 !!! 4 cores on die!!.
Ranks from best to last !!
1. Intel i7 ofc.
2. Intel Core 2 Quad
3. Intel Core 2 Duo
4. Intel Core Duo.

i would pick the one that money can buy.
remember you can buy a expensive cpu .
but do you really need it the upcomming 2 years .
maybe a slower cheaper cpu will get you 2 years further aswell.
and then in 2 years , you buy a new motherboard with another socket and you were glad you didnt buy a expesive 1 .
because now you need a new 1

am notsure which is better for gameing core2 quad or core 2 duo
kyleking162 2 years ago
for gaming , pick the largest number of core , since your gonna run a lot of application at the same times , like Core i7 , which has 8cores , or Core 2 Quad, for those who are on a budget

So core2 quad= 8 = best

CwalkDarvinq 2 years ago
@CwalkDarvinq Core 2 is the next level of core processors so
core 2 duo has 2 processors! not 4
Noob!!
And core 2 quad has 4 wow noobs!
xdartgun 2 years ago
@CwalkDarvinq
LOL
So funny xD
Core 2 Quad doesnt mean it has 8 cores
Core 2 stands for the name.. 2nd generation.
Its just a name...like Intel Pentium. 1 2 3 and 4.
Core Duo...and than Came Core 2 Duo... and after that.. Came Intel i7..
A total new name..

It's smart enough to know how to distribute the workload effectively isn't it?
So whether it's 2 or 8 threads it'll demolish a task.
I'd take the Core i7-860, since it has trusted execution and it's even faster than a 920 for $1 more, plus you can get a free copy of RE5 with it right now.

gor an i7 you pay 200- 950 euro and for an i5 may 170 euro
amd phenom 2 x4 965 cost 150 euro and fuck the i5 .... and for 20-40 euro more you get and amd phenom 2 x6 on an new sockelt wich is akktuell the nex 2 years and the 1156 is then stone age .
i would yought amd its cheaper and no so an criminal ( unternehmen ) like intel.

Quad core is the future. Temporary only. 6 cores and more threads are on the way.

Shouldnt it be 8?
jaggedspike 2 years ago
im getting tired of dual core gaming vs quad core . if a game can only use 2 cores. the core 2 quad will not have any advantage or disatvantage both will perform exactly the same. how ever if the game is made for quad. consider the dual core raped. but most games use 2 cores. so imo. get a dual core. unless you want to use big graphics cards and alot of them
a dual core would bottle neck powerful graphics.

r u kidding the e7400 is a much better buy, higher FSB,compatible with DDR2 or 3 (future proofing) and a hell of a lot of other features built on chip. If you can afford it go for the e7600

what is better Intel® Core™2 Quad Q8400 2,66GHz or Intel® Core™2 Duo E7400 2.80GHz?I need to know cuz i'm buying a new computer!
q44ghj5 2 years ago
core 2 quad becouse quad stands for 4 cores which are at 2.66 ghz in your case, where core 2 duo has 2 cores at 2.80ghz.
but it also depends what you want to do...
if youre a simple gamer that plays games like gta 4 and all this core 2 duo is enough. but if youre someone that plays games with fairly big requirements or you want to be running loads of programs at the same time get the quad.
hope i helped

and for the sake of being fair i take back the junk critic about intels 65w+ dekstop chips but they are powerdraining overpriced and have RF heat issues as you go up in watts, that much is true
860015 2 years ago
a Ram Drive is not a HDD- WTF- Thats like me saying ok- then ill paird Dual Intel 64GB Super Server SSD's Drives and put them in raid-0 as the benchmark. lol. No- You take that Intel Atom- Pair it with a regular 7200 RPM hard drive and load Crysis on it. Also take that same HDD and put it in a an Intel Core 2 Quad system, then put an older 80GB drive and do the same thing. I guarantee you, a Hard Drive from 10 years ago, from 1999 would still work in most of todays PC's no problem.
illmagnified 2 years ago
greater freedom to control TDPvolts / frequency on a 130w cpu and being able to bring it down to 45w without it drifting out of operation would thwart many consumer frustrations.
860015 2 years ago
Of course there will always be better performance to be had, but again, that doesn't stop and begin at HDD's performance. As far as you calling Desktop CPU's garbage because their rated TDP is over your liking but guess what- Modern day CPU's Smoke the shit out of your Favored ATOM which is actually closer in similiarity to a PPU and that of the Cell than a monolithic die. Modern day cpu's have even built in the memory controllers for higher bandwidth to limit bottlenecks.
illmagnified 2 years ago
so if your gonna fru your brains for 10% you might as well do it with a p4 and save 800$.
860015 2 years ago
