Where is the missing footage at 3:16??? Why was the only student that was posted as 'giving their account of the incident' black? I thought the school was mostly white... Where are those 'accounts'???
you people make me sick. I live less than a mile from colby in waterville. Ive seen how you respect our town. how you look down on everyone but your rich snobby friends. I work more in one day then you trust fund babies work in a year. Ive had my run in's with the waterville pd and ya know what... everytime ive ever been drunk or disorderly ive accepted that I screwed up and not played the whole bullshit race card or rich kid angel. pathetic... go back to mass. Im tired of your shit in our town
I could not agree with you more. I hate Colby. I went there for a while and left to go to another college because it was nothing but drunken bullshit on that campus. The students there could not care less about anyone but themselves and mommy and daddy's money. Knowing many of the students involved, I'm sure that it was another drunken shit show that took place--not police brutality. The security officers are great at Colby, and those rich bitches should go back to their mansions in Mass.
I saw the video. It looked like the students involved were out of control and helped to make a small incident into a big one. Why not comply and sort it out at Security HQ? Why was it so hard to submit and go along peaceably? It's probable that the officers were in the wrong, but it seems like the best way to resolve the incident would have been to stay calm and comply, not all the chaos that followed. It reminded me of "don't taze me bro".
There is some context missing here: We are at the 10th anniversary of the Columbine shootings. Police and school security officers are afraid and have been trained not to take chances when it comes to students. I find it unfortunate that police feel they must treat young adults harshly. I am a Colby Alum, and I teach at a Maine college. I am disturbed, but not surprised by this incident. Additionally, the drinking, underage or not, is what started this unfortunate event.
Before you comment on whether or not they are rich and such - if you saw the video you would understand more - it was appalling and graphic. It has since been removed - I saw it and it was horrible what the police did.
The students who are protesting are making this into a huge issue, of course Colby will investigate this incident. Providing a safe environment for their students is their number one priority. I wonder what the protesters will think when the college is forced to reexamine the drinking policy. I graduated in 90' and by the end of my 4 years, there was no underage drinking. If alcohol hadn't been involved this incident it would not have happened at all.
Typo on my previous comment, 2:16 not 3:16 is where the glitch is.

Out of control? They were on the ground bleeding with the cops sitting on them in the video I saw.
