Ya know, I can really hear the amazing amount of nationalism an prejudice that went into the voting on this show. People voting for someone simply because the are Scottish or from the North and that was all that mattered. And then there's the pre-teen crowd, especially the girls that would clearly vote for the one closest to their age. When Holly interviewed people from about 24 on up, it swung over to Olly every time. But they likely didn't vote a million times in a row.
This was by far the most emotional and sensitive performance of this song. Olly sang this with such conviction. He has soul and depth to his voice and performance that is often lacking in someone with a more classical voice. It's amazing how in a few short weeks Yvie transformed Olly into a number one ballad singer as per this performance. This is the one video I feel compelled to watch again and again of all those made during the X Factor program.

Olly's version is so, so, much better in terms of "pop" music. he sang it with lots of character; scoops, grit, chest voice, head tone -- the lot. Joe's versions is more musical theatre and very Celine Dion -- very clean vocally but absolutely zero character. He sang a cheesy song and then added a ton of cheddar to it. It's like listening to Michael Ball singing the signature song of Friends. I'd buy Olly's version any time.

There is nothing about a Joe McElderry performance that makes it any different from listening to his single. I certainly wouldnt pay money to see him stand there singing in concert. Olly is an amazing dancer and puts on a great show. This performance shows he can sing really well and hit the big notes just like Joe (although unlike Joe, he isnt always pitch perfect ).
He sounded more contemporary than Joe, IMHO. That's probably why the other male judge preferred his version over Joe's. Joe's voice is more old school. Joe has the better voice, but Olly voice is more "current".
I watched bothveriothat ns again, completley impartially, and though Joe sand it better, this verion gave me goosebumps! Olly sang the best he ever has, he put EVERYTHING into performance and I do think he should have won. But oh, looking at JLS comepared to Alex, 2nd place seems a better opputunity for those who can perform.

Olly's version is so, so, much better in terms of "pop" music. he sang it with lots of character; scoops, grit, chest voice, head tone -- the lot. Joe's versions is more musical theatre and very Celine Dion -- very clean vocally but absolutely zero character. He sang a cheesy song and then added a ton of cheddar to it. It's like listening to Michael Ball singing the signature song of Friends. I'd buy Olly's version any time.

I couldn't agree more!!! I love his voice so much! And I'm so sad people didn't give it as much credit as it deserves! I'm glad for Joe, but there's absolutely nothing exciting about his songs/performances... Olly!!!!! shayne ward was already a singer in 2002 but then was lost and came back into the limelight through x factor in 2005 and is active to this day he isnt gone...he just isnt popular in the UK...and its the same with leon jackson he is still active, he is just not popular in the UK ... you people need to get things right i mean COR!!! you stupid twats...we arent the only country in the world...and tbh it doesnt matter "who should have one" joe won so just shut the fuck up!!!

Yeah that's the problem with the judges deciding. I didn't really like Danyl though, I mean there's a difference between being confident and being full of yourself. And did anyone else notice that Olly and Joe both did The Danyl with the mic? It wasn't annoying though, like when Danyl threw it I was always hoping he'd drop it. how long do you think he practised in front of the mirror?

It was obvious Joe was going to win. But I think it meant a lot more to Olly than it did to Joe. See how he cries? I feel so sorry for him! I loved all the finalists except Rikki and Rachael (someone please kill her-she HAD to hog Joe's moment!). Stop complaining about him getting the words wrong. The point is he has a good voice. I can't wait til I get to see him and Joe and the other 8 finalists that I actually like (Lloyd :P:P) in March!!!!!

I agree. Olly's voice was shaky and cracky. Joe was note/pitch accurate. Olly has a unique voice but I don't think he is a good belter.

Olly should have won, he proves here he can over come any song thrown at him. I think Simon Cowell gave him too many energetic dancy songs which didn't really give him a chance to show his voice. It wasn't until the last moment we got to see how good a singer he is. Actually this song is strangely reminisant of Olly "Some times I'm gonna have to lose, Aint about how fast I get there... It's the Climb". Learn from these lyrics Olly and keep climbing...

I love Olly and there were moments in the song where he sounded good, but I think he doesnt have very good control. When he sings fast tempo songs he sounds fuckin awesome and really powerful. Joe can sing anything and is technically the better singer, GO JOE!!!

There is nothing about a Joe McElderry performance that makes it any different from listening to his single. I certainly wouldnt pay money to see him stand there singing in concert. Olly is an amazing dancer and puts on a great show. This performance shows he can sing really well and hit the big notes just like Joe (although unlike Joe, he isnt always pitch perfect ).

He sounded more contemporary than Joe, IMHO. That's probably why the other male judge preferred his version over Joe's. Joe's voice is more old school. Joe has the better voice, but Olly voice is more "current".

I watched bothveriothat ns again, completley impartially, and though Joe sand it better, this verion gave me goosebumps! Olly sang the best he ever has, he put EVERYTHING into performance and I do think he should have won. But oh, looking at JLS comepared to Alex, 2nd place seems a better opputunity for those who can perform.
