It takes between 60,000-100,000 years for 1 tenth of 1% of a genome to change. We know this from looking at apes and the % difference between them and us.
MT is the way forward in my opinion. If we don't provide our 60 trillion cells+ with what they want, then we're setting ourselves up for dis-eases.
