  • that's beautiful

  • Great classic oldie...........treasured and cherished forever.

  • His (Foster's) insight into the human condition and the agony of elusive beauty and love was both expressed in his gifts to the world and his need to assuage the pain (of elusiveness) chemically. It does not follow that a dense and cheery folk would be able to emulate him without drinking. We have plenty of their work already. Sensitivity is a mixed blessing.

  • I would love to get the courage to phone him up to thank him for all he's done, what he's meant to me even to this day.

Yeah his number's in the book. But... he's almost like a god to me and I'm just shy.

  • @UglySean well, i'm sure he would appreciate a note through his youtube channel. sesamestreetbob is really him.

  • OMG! BOB?! squeel

  • I had no idea growing up that one of my favorite people on Sesame Street was actually a Japanese superstar in the 1960's!

Omg... listen to that Mondo/Wurli organ... so great! lol

  • It is ironis that this beautiful, beautiful song was written when Stephen foster was in a drunken stuper. He became an alcholic as time progressed but was able to produce beauty. Wonder what would have happened had he remained sober.

Bob Mcgrath is amazing ,singing this classic.

  • Seriously? O wow. Finally something good came out of one man's drunken stupor.

  • @ Hajune

    You cannot be serious?

  • @Lyndon1947 Stephen Foster was a homeless hopeless alcholic in New York in his latter days. What a shame. Certainly he would have written many more classics with his amazing gift. Saw the program about him on the History Channel

  • @hajune

Even so, he didn't do a bad job, what with this one and Oh Susannah, My Old Kentucky Home, Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair, Gentle Annie etc. among around 200 songs...

  • @Lyndon1947 Sad but true, Lyndon. Foster died after falling from his bed in a flophouse hotel in the Bowery, NYC. He literally had just a few pennies in his pocket. He was only 37 years old. It breaks your heart.

  • Wonderful song and voice.

  • written by Stephen Foster

  • Sounds like a lullabye...beautiful!!!

  • Beautiful.........thanks for sharing.

  • grazie per la condivisione

    Giuliano

  • I agree...just a beautiful voice this man has....5 stars!

  • Living alone now I love to hear the songs of yesteryear. When I was a little girl my father used to sing this to me. Thank you for posting this and bringing a beautiful memory to mind.

  • i favorited!

  • The first time I heard this song was when I was a child I was watching the original Mighty Joe Young movie, I have always like that Stphen Foster song.

  • Such a beautiful singing voice, one that never faded over time either.

You are so lucky to have this album!

  • Thank you for posting this. I am a huge fan of Bob McGrath and it is so nice to hear an exceptional singer. Thanks so much again!
