A very nice little steam engine - I'm building a 5 inch gauge petrol mechanical locomotive using an old lawnmower engine which is nearly finished. Hopefully it will have good hauling power like this great little steamer!
im a member of this club and we do have some steep gradients on the track not so much the raised level track but our 7 1/4 ground level track is steep and i have driven a 060 steam engine with 14 very heavy goods wagons on the back and the loco had no trouble pulling its amazing how much power these little engines have
anyone who is interested in steam or wants a good day out to take the kids please vist us at waterside on canvey island from the 1st sunday in april to the 2nd sunday in october
hi I have been building a locomotive a little smaller than the one in the video, they are coal fired & the boiler has a working pressure of 80-120 PSI about 6-7 bar & 2 double acting cylinders 40mm dia,4 power strokes per turn of the wheels . mine is about 50kg in weight & it has the power to pull about 8 adults, & all minature steam locos have the boilers inspected & tested every year for public use.
my chanal may be tf related but ive loved trains for as long as i can remember. I my self have a 7 half inch gaug golf cart battery powerd engine and no i dont live in the countery or what ever but i am apart of the south western live steamers club (proivet club must own engine) and no i dont own it.BUT 2 GIT 2 THE POINT ive sean steamers hulin up to 14 cars with people big and skinny rideing on each car so it can hult that weight.
This is NO fake. That engine restarted after the stop ALL BY ITSELF with NO helping push from the "guard" at the back. It really is that powerful, and note how quickly it gained speed too.
Great Video, Interesting railway, videos from on board the train are always interesting, How did you get the camera at the interesting angles? The loco looks like an interesting loco what class is it?
Check out my drivers eye view video of The Bekonscot Model Railway.
Usually the owners build them from scratch over a period of years. This one was bought from a family when the original owner passed on to the great railway yard in the sky.
Well, it was his first day out with this loco and was getting to grips with the controls. he discovered that the automatic water feed to the boiler was set too high, hence the running-out of steam. It quickly recovered though!
BAM, just placed on my "Things to do when in Essex" list!

It's remarkable how much power you can get from tiny engines. I have a small steam roller that does work and it can really go!

It is indeed amazing what even a small steamer can do; also praiseworthy is the photography here; how were these shots obtained?

Apparently it is an L1 class loco (2-6-4) in 1950s British rail livery. My camera technique uses a monopod, no more secrets!
