this is a really good idea. think i might try to make one using your idea of using pressure. but a cheap $10 dosing pump is too cheap to justify a ghetto rigged bottle next to my tank. But cool none the less.
@afat01 the air from the pump is pushing the water out of the bottle. the air is making a higher pressure inside and this is forcing the water to go out.

i just a bit confused with the air pump, how you fill up the water to go up with the air pump, because usually they use water lifter pump..
