The Flipshare software freezes up, and I cant make a movie!

Flip support ignored me, after more emails they lied to me about a "patch" upgrade, and now they are totally ignoring me again

yeah i had an hv30 and then got and hfs100 (24mbps tapeless and manual gain!! yeah take that hdv). No I dont really mind tape I just wanted manual gain, but on my 8 core mac pro the capture process is a good 10 to 30 percent faster depending on the codec used. But really dont get the flip mino hd it sucks major ass. The sensor from the hv or hfs100 (1000 bucks) is about three times bigger than the flip. My canon with a shotgun mic beats some 4k cameras that we have at our work in sharpness.

Hi, good vid. I was just wondering if when you look at the video off the camera on your computer, does it look as good as the HD version on youtube or like the regular version.

When you upload the video to your comp, like on imovie do you have to do somthing to get it in HD or dose it just look that good straight off the camera??

It actually looks better on my PC than it does on YouTube. I think YouTube is still doing some compression on their HD videos. I just pulled this straight off the camera. No editing software required.

I'm not 100% but I believe it does not. It's very simple and basically just has a record button.

I first tried to upload it after exporting it from the Flip software and then i didn't get the "HD" options in YouTube. I tried again by just taking the file directly off the Flip (just using the standard Mac finder [the windows explorer equivalent).

If I recall correctly it then took a few hours for the "View in HD" options to show up. I'll try again soon and report back if I do anything differently.

dont use flip share go to my compter for xp and for vista computer and go to flip and dcim then 100 video and drag to desk top then upload the hd shold be there after prossesing

Yup. I didn't have to do anything special but upload the video in its original (HD) quality.

theres a flip mino which was the start of the smaler flip cameras and this is the flip mino HD the Hd version of the small mino. The standard quality is youtubes fault the regular non HD mino looks tons better then this standard video not in HD

Agreed. That's YouTube's crappy compression, not the camera. There are a probably tricks you can do in editing/post production to make that less dramatic.

Glad this was helpful for you guys. I plan on taking a few videos in different environments with different lighting. I heard the Flip isn't great in low-lighting, so I'll test that this weekend. So far, I'm definitely loving it.

I watched it in "normal quality" first and was thinking.....not very good.....then I hit the "watch in HD" option......it looks awesome!!
