I don't know what your cooling coil looks like, but if you recirculate the water and keep it cool your collection will be more efficient. Even air can be pumped through the coils, but it doesn't exchange heat as efficiently as water.
Part 2 - Lavender Essential Oil Distillation - video goes more into depth as to how I capture, cool and then recirculate all of the water. That's the beauty of this setup as its almost totally self contained. Thanks for watching
As a chemist, I can tell you that this process is called a Steam Distillation and you have a really nice set up here. If you look for a piece of glassware called a Dean-Stark trap (very similar to what you already have) or a separatory funnel, you might find the separation easier. You can allow the oil/water mixture to stand a bit longer and separate better per your needs. Neat.
Wow, this video is a gem! Thank you for sharing. I have a small soap-making business and my five year plan includes raising my own milk goats for goat milk soap and making my own essential oils. Congrats on your great-looking product and thanks for sharing your success with us hope-to-be up and comers.
Thanks. I also have water storage capacity (125 gallons in the big white tank) mounted on the front portion of the trailer to fill the cooling chamber. It is collected after cooling and then reused in small batches allowing me to stay out in the fields all day. My little computer/ controller unit and the pumping system are operated by a 12 volt battery. It was fun to build. Merzpic
The setup looks awesome! Would you be able to explain how your oil separator works? Thanks!

Hi,
I got a question to you, where did you get this machine.
Did you buy it or made by your self.
Many thanks,

Beautiful farm and truly a video worth watching. Inspiring to see you live close to nature and using what it has to offer in a organic way.

I like your setup on a trailer- very convenient to be able to move the still wherever you need it.
