It's a shame about having a little kid main character and not having Peter Weller's voice. While the violence is toned down it's still got a good deal of blood squibs for a PG-13 movie. Overall I'd call it more of a disappointment than a bad film. I vastly prefer it to say... the Star Wars prequels.

Most don't even consider 2 and 3 as cannon, and I can't say I blame them. Although they had their funny moments they were complete shit. Prefer the gritty violent style, hopefully this "new" version brings Robocop back and completely discards the 2 and 3 story lines and just takes a another direction from the first one.

people are always blaming burke for this movie being bad, when it should be directed at dekker. burke was a good replacement in my opinion he was certainly better than eden and fletcher! dekker wanted this to be a martial arts kind of movie he was even trying to get jackie chans stunt team on board, and thats why the movie wasn't as good as the others, but there are still a lot of other sequels out there that are so much worse!

In my opinion the aggressive nature was lost and it was aimed at a younger generation. This movie got a generation of kids who had never seen the original and its sequel into Robocop. Toy, magazine and other item sales went crazy after this movie. With all that said i think it was a great film and doesn't deserve all the bad comments.

I was about 7. PG Robocop was mind-boggling, but I also watched the TV series. Even at the time I knew the new Robocops were starting to appeal to my own age group, which completely defeats the purpose of watching violent movies you're not supposed to watch. THAT is exactly why ! Robocop with a jetpack. He's too heavy to fly and besides, that thing would heat up his armour to melting point. It's ridiculous. Robocop is a cyborg, not a superhero. And that rocket launcher/flamethrower thing, that is even more hilarious. They're giving him gizmo's in this film, like some James Bond version of himself. No sir, Robocop 3 was never made in my opinion, and I'm very glad Peter Weller turned it down. I surely can't blame him.

Oh yeah ! THAT kind of awefulness. I love that too sometimes, LOL. Only I don't like Robocop to sit in that corner. He's too cool for that. ;-) I remember when I saw the 1st one in the theatre. I was expecting just another actionmovie, like there are so many. But I was gobsmacked by it. The 2nd one I liked too, even though it had some weird scenes, the overall tone was pretty close to the original. And It was directed by Irvin Kershner, director of The Empire Strikes Back. Yeah ! :-D

Well the waterd content took away the series' ultraviolence, sex and vulgarity. The plot was poorly cobbled together from Frank Miller's RoboCop 2 script. They killed off Lewis, and when RoboCop deletes Directive 4 instead of going all Terminator on OCP like he promised Lewis he becomes somewhat more docile. They decided to drop Peter Weller instead waiting for Naked Lunch to finish wrapping up, sorta no choice senario but still...

@CloakNStab All valid points, but I still don't see how it gets a reputation as being the Highlander 2 of the RoboCop franchise. What I find most tragic about it are the glimmers of hope that indicate it could have been a respectable conclusion to the series; I like how it concludes the OCP saga in a halfway reasonable manner, for instance, and Murphy's betrayal of the company is something that seems inevitable if you see how loosely he follows their instructions in the second movie. I ramble.

this movie is one of my favoruite movies of all time and here's the why's.

1 - it's so out of characert of Robocop, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with original concept of Robo and changes the setting in a very drastic way

2 - it's just all over the top - the acting - the fight scenes - the themes of the movie in general

3 it has a heart of it's own, while it mayb Not stay true to the original but it's definetely made me worry for the characters

There's even a scene i think towards the end of this shitfest, where he like flies inside the building from one side of the roo to the other and you can see thefuckin strings!
