@cmsbassist Hes playing what is known as, the "off-beat" It is rare for it to be used in tradional concert band music, UNLESS! Your doing.. Jazz, Polka, Latin Music Etc... THEN its good to use an off beat, but other then Jazz, Polka and the like, its not used often in concert band. I can only think of 1 time our concert band played a song with an off beat and that was "the great locomotive chase" one of my favorite songs to play.

no, it does not. it is classified by the type of mouthpiece. all brass has a metal cup as its mouthpiece and low brass qualifies as brass and is low in key. any saxophone, be it saprano, alto, tenor, baritone, bass, or contrabass, qualify as woodwind because they use a reed. tenor,baritone, bass, and contrabass saxophones qualify as low woodwind.

haha we did not use music, it was completely improvised by our sectional instructor, who is a trombone in the University of Pittsburgh band and learned it there! there is one tuba part, 3 trombone parts, 1 sax part (but one of our saxes played harmony of that same part)
