EADS dragged NG into bed with them to have a shot at bidding for this program, and it's a sin because nobody builds an inflight refueling platform like Boeing.
Shame on Airforce!!!! As a concerned citizen of this country, I am outraged on the Military's decision to award $40 billion dollars of tax payer's money to a foreign company while our economy is in recession and Boeing is struggling. I hope that you push for legislation to block the award on the grounds that U.S. contracts with such magnetite should not go to foreign companies. It outrageous!!!!!!!!
You didn't really have a choice. If you wanted an American plane, Boeing was the one choice. With NO competition, Boeing can charge whatever it wants, for an inferior product. BTW, 60% of this new tanker will be US-made. That's more than the US content of your beloved Boeing's new 787. Makes you wonder about how much of a patriotic US business Boeing really is, doesn't it?
Northrop Grumman (a US company) / EADS won because they offered the best deal for the best plane. It's that simple.
I dont understand they knew Northrop Grumman had foreign contractors before the competition now you want to whine.Boeing uses foreign contractors too. This contract will help the gulf coast and you people are whining. Alabama is america too. 20,000 jobs in 49 states across America. The better plane won get over it.Why choose a plane that is not the best for our country if you want to stay ahead. Think about it.
Northrop Grumman is an american company and so will the KC-45. It's going to be built here in the US creating new jobs in the process.
Boeing was stupid in offering the 767 as it's platform. 767 is a 1970s era design, it originally entered airline service in 1982. The aircraft is being retired as a commercial airliner in the next 12-18 months by Boeing in favor of the new 787Dreamliner.Effectively, had they chosen the KC-767,the USAF would have been the only remaining customer of the plane
