  • If anything Kishore fans should be proud that he is even being compared to Rafi. You all know in the bottom of your heart who is better. Both singers were roughly of the same era. How come then we don't recall Kishore's songs for so many leading actors of 50s and 60s, that's 20 long years...except for a few songs for Dev Anand and Shashi. It's the other way round for Rafi: it would be quite a challenge for anyone to find actors that Rafi did NOT sing for...any comparison here makes sense?

  • for God sake, you ppl plz listen to the songs of both GREAT artists and enjoy . plz keep your Voice judgement comments with yourself and try to see and live beyond.

  • My grand salute to both Rafi Sahab and Kishore Da!!!

  • Kishore acting & Rafi singing - please see it as a great example of understanding & friendship between these two great men. Have you heard Kishore singing in dedication to Rafi whom he calls his brother after the latter's death? Please check video "Kishore kumar giving tribute to mohd rafi sahab". That is a great example of friendship between great men understanding each other. So, let's love and respect both Rafi Sahab and Kishore Da for their greatness & the unique treasures both left for us.

  • However, this does not discredit either Kishore or Rafi as we should see and understand that both did a great job (acting and singing together) for entertaining us. Rafi was singing only; he was not acting. Otherwise, who knows Kishore would have been singing for Rafi. So, friends, there is really no point in telling that Kishore could not sing this song or that song. Both Kishore and Rafi could sing and one who can sing can repeat a song until the latter is fit for public performance.

  • Saying Kishore Da could not sing this song is very unfair as we all know that Kishore was a top versatile singer who could sing any type of song. The fact is that in those days Ashok Kumar had made Kishore Kumar so busy with acting that he had no time for singing and recording these songs. Moreover, Ashok Kumar wanted Kishore Kumar to be an actor and not a singer. So, naturally Rafi was the only one left to sing for Kishore who was caught up with acting and pleasing his elder brother Ashok.

  • Kids original story is different buy a biography you see rafi is best there is competition with kishore . Kishore is nothing against rafi . that you watching that's is classic song those kishore can't sing then kishore request rafi for that song n rafi sing for him even kishore was by singing by Indian government after china war coz government offer kishore sing a song on radio for Indian army those in war kishore ask money then government call rafi . Rafi sang encouragement song for Indian arm

  • Yes Mukesh did rule the 70s, Some songs for Vinodh,Rajesh,Amitab went 2 mukesh and he made those song immortal hit songs today. Rishi Kapoor Used Rafi and Kishore as playback singer, cousz if he used mukesh, Critics would say that Rishi Kapoor is becoming a new Raj Kapoor, and that's not what the kapoor famly wanted, every member must have a own stamp, Raj Kapoor wanted Mukesh only for himself, and boycotted Mukesh for youth heroes, he replaced him with Shailendre, Mukesh sacrificed himself.

  • @tomyunggung , top stupid comment. KK would have slapped you for this.

  • @tomyunggung , top stupid comment.

  • I bet this will not settle dispute as somwhere someone is ready w. vengeance on who is greater Kihsore or Mohd Rafi and will come back w. abuse on this thread...guys can we all get along and respect others viewpoint? I hope so, donot demean your ownself by writing abusive material here.

  • Continued .., i agree everyones disappointment for Kishore being eccentric and difficult to deal with which is no excuse. ...Mohd Rafi sang for Kishore as Kishore was having difficulty finding time due to his busy schedule. I cannot say for sure if this was an exception to this rule.

  • 8. Kishore had maximum chorus hits and none of the hit of Mohd rafi reached the zenith Kishore's song reached. Besides Kishore was NOT only singer - you know how many hats he wore? All this and so much for untrained singer, call it Gods gift?

  • 6. Top actors prefered Kishore over Mohd Rafi and the history is evident. 7. Mohd Rafi lacked self confidence, charisma and expression for different kind of songs, he went into self exile in 70s with the pretext that music was against Islam and later came back.

  • ...continued..2. Most romantic lead singer paired with leading female singer

    3. Highest paid singer from Aradhana to the time he died4. Highest number of hit songs based on number of songs sung. 5. Most Filmfare awards for best playback singer - male.

  • For those who will fight for there rest of life on Mohd Rafi Vs Kishore. Here are some facts to wake you up from slumber..1. Kishore kumar has been more popular in mainstream cinema, he was untrained, suited best for every or most actor worthy or not of being STAR. He made many stars, who would have been long forgotten but were remembered due to there songs.

  • Mohd Rafi is the Voice of Nation. Most appreciated & loved Versatile singer was rafi sahab..

Kishore jaise 2 kaudi ke singers rafi sahab k pairon k dhool bhi nahin hain..

the best example is this song which rafi sahab sung 4 kishore... hahaha

  • @tomyunggung , this is most stupid logic I have seen in YouTube.

  • producers r not foolish.jitne wale horse par dunia paisa lagaati hai.amitaab was highest paid.so were kishorda .amolpalekar se leke kamalahasan tak kishoreda ki awaj late the

  • @suriblingblinga,masses and intelactuals never talk about mukeshji at no1nor awards decides who is no 1. just check binaca geetmala from 1969-1987.whoose nos r most in list.kishoreda sang 4 every hit hero of that time-dharmendra,jitendra,sanjiv,vinodkhanna,vinod mehra, feroj khan,devanand,rishi,shashi,randhirkapur,comedian-mehmud,asrani,even dilipkr-saginaand rajendra-aap aaye bahaar aayee(BUT AS HERODILIP,RAJENDR AND SHAMMIKAPUR'CARRIERS WAS FINISHED)SHAMMI TOOK KISHORDA IN HOME PROD-MANORANJAN

  • @pks1911

i agree with you, abaut the fact that people aren't remembering Mukesh jee enough, the reason for it is, that mukesh was from another class than kishore and rafi,Kishore could sing modern type of songs like no other singer could, rafi could hit ragas as the best, but mukesh, mukesh remained simple, and that simplicity was his succes, today's people don't want to listen to simple, hearthwarming sad, meanfull songs off mukesh it doesn't fit well in this time.that doesnt mean mukesh...

  • @suriblingblinga

wasn't a great singer, mukesh did rule the 70s, and todays world must be ashamed for not remembering mukesh jee, but who has he got, Amit Kumar and Bhappi Lahri made kishore bigger than he was by telling lies and stuff about the so called brilliance of Kishore Da, Rafi did not need these so called pawns, Rafi is just remembered by everyone without his connections, it is due to Kishore modernism that our music industry today has failed!, if only mukesh or rafi lived longer...

  • @suriblingblinga , people like you spoil the comments section. People like you should be banned. I love all of them, KK perhaps last in list but I respect his singing well enough to know him as a top-class singer.

  • @dptxp

people like you should die faster... who do you think you are, atleast you admit KK being last in list,.. and if you think the facts spoil this comments section don't bother to read,..but don't comment me about your nonsense,.. well don't comment me at all xD you are just a bag of crap, ahahahaahah facts Rafi 1 Mukesh 2 Kishore 3

  • @suriblingblinga , you want a slow, slow, slow death? (Joke, I do not wish anyone bad, even you be happy).

I love a lot are singers, especially the big three, The Lyrics used to be betterb at Mukesh and rafi days, forunately KK also proved to be great singer. The more great singers we have, they are all unique and provide us variety. They were all friends, let us be happy to have the greats.

  • @dptxp LMAO, i am sry about my death joke, I 2 don't wish anyone bad, i like al the indian and pakistani singers who joined Bollywood, and they are indeed unique, the only thing i've done is to bring up the facts, mostly to show that Mukesh is underrated by today's generation!

  • @suriblingblinga ..I am agree with you my friend, I am from Pakistan and I am fan on Mukesh's songs since when I listened his first song, "jis gali main tera ghar" but unfortunately our generation and media merely highlights his personality and career. But No doubt Rafi sb and Kishore also deserve respect as they are the kings of their own singing fields.

  • RAFI NYAY NAHI KAR PAAYE IS GAANE KE SAATH.KISHORDA BETTER GAATE . ISILIYE GAANA HIT NAHI HUA .ZINDGI JAISE PHILOPHFICAL SONGS ME DADA KA KOI SAANI NAHI. AGAR DADA ACTING ME BUSY NA HOTE TO KISHOREDA HI YE GANA GAATE.MANNADA NE BHI KISHORDA KE LIYE KAI GAANE GAAYE HAI, SALUTE TO GREAT DADA -YE UNKI MAHANTA HAI KI UNHONE OBJECT NAHI KIYA

  • Two Diamonds, Two great singers. We r proud to hve people like M Rafi and Kishore Da. May they rest in peace

  • singers like Mukesh ji Manna da, Hemant da, Talat ji, although immensely talented, never ruled.

  • @sweetboyfaiz Mukesh ruled the 70s, but i am sure you know nothing about the bollywood music industry's history

  • What a woderful song. Shows the dexterity of Rafisaab. Allah blessed his voice.

    Thanks for this. God Bless!

  • whatever u ppl say...rafi sahab is king of singers ..

  • Of course vikram, its a complementary they were 2 great... But diamonds there so many types of diamond in this duniya ,all butiful, However the KOHINOOR primes

  • if u wnt to another example...whr rafi saab sang for kishore purely is a song ...mann mora bawra

  • Amazing....

But I love Kishor Kumar, Especially when M. Rafi beats him....

  • @winthis1 BETE 1969 KE BAAD TO ISKA ULTA HO GAYA

  • they all good in their own right no one is better then any one, they all have a unique voice, big up the living legend kumar sanu.

  • @SSpoty

if sanu is a living legend, i am prez of india

  • I really love both Rafi and kishore kumar... even mukesh as well. I think what Rafi sahab learnt that KK evolved by his talent... no doubt Rafi Sahab was a legendary singer of Indian film industry and so the KK was. But at times it really hurts when I see any bloody asshole criticizing any one of them... they both were equally great singers and if you are a true music lover then you'll never use unappropriate word for any great talent.

  • Fact is Kishore could not sing high pitch songs, hence Rafi Saheb was called to sing this track, otherwise, 60s was the golden period of Hindi film music.

  • The fact is Kishore could not sing this high pitch song, otherwise 60s was the golden era of Hindi film music.

  • PRODUCERS wanted RAFI to sing for heroines as well instead of LATAJI. This is how madness was in the sixties.LOL INDIANS!!!!!

  • Lata Ji also sang for boys in hindi movies ( i cant believe why ) xD

    in films like kranti etc,

but where did you got that information..?

  • If you compare you must do right

Bollywood began with singers like Saigal

Then we had Talat and Mukesh beginning in the 40's Rafi soon followed

Mukesh fame rises with DIl jalta hai

Naushad Sahab Used Mainly Talat mahmood, got enoiyed by talat's smoking and went on with Rafi and Mukesh,

Kishore enterd de industri with ziddi(as singer)the top layer now is Rafi and Mukesh, Naushad used both rafi as mukesh for Hit Movie Andaz, Rafi's ecellent performance in baju bawra rised his fame. continued

  • the 50's SD burman discoverd Kk talent

awarding singer stared from 1959 where Mukesh got the first Award For Anari,And rafi sahab get some Bengal award. Leading singers in the 50's Mukesh,Rafi,Talat

second choice singers where Manna dey,Hemant da(who was mainly busy and more, Kishore da was busy with acting, and producing movies.chalti ka naam gadi per example.

Talat sahab had many hit songs in the 50's

the 60's Much competions between Rafi Sahab and Mukesh Ji,Also rise of fame to Kk as singe

  • Rafi rised with fame and left Mukesh behind him at the seconde place,Talat was ill,and kishore got his place as third male leading singer and score great with movies like guide, jewel thief, but it wasn't enough to beat Mukesh or Rafi.

In the 70's Mukesh removed Rafi from 1st place and scored hit after hit, wich gave him 1974 the national award for kai baar yuun hi dekha,Kishore removed rafi from second place and rafi was the third leading male singer.Mukesh who was on the top of his carreer died!

  • The industry was in shock,Mukesh chand mathur died in 1976 due hart failure,But got award in 1977 chanchal sheetal..

It was Rafi sahab who took the first place over with kya hua tera waada, however it was mukesh that ruled the 70's Rafi started to come back,Rafi sahab died in 1980 due hearth failure. and it was Kishore who took over the first place.

    Kishore da Ruled the 80's

But then in 2001 Rafi sahab was Awarded Singer of the Millenium!

  • Conclusion :

    50's Mukesh and Rafi Era

    60's Rafi sahab Ruled

    70's Mukesh Ji Ruled

    80's Kishore Da Ruled

2001 Rafi was chosen the best

I dont have a pesonal fafourite some times i am just in the mood for rafi other time Mukesh other time Kishore and so on I love them and i am glad that i went how it should went. There is no Bollywood Without Mukesh,Rafi and Kishore Da!

  • Error :

    50s Mukesh,Rafi and Talat Mahmood!

  • i think the most effective barometer is contained in the statistics. which singers records out sold those of the others in which era. Also who recorded the most number of records. No doubt that Lata was the most supreme in every sense, but i am talking about the male singers. Any ideas please?

  • @suriblingblinga

lolzzz, yeah.. jai ho beimaani ka..... gr8 mukesh number, from 70s, isnt it?

    things were like

40-first half Saigal second half Talat

    50- Rafi

    60-Rafi

    70- Rafi n Kishor

    80- utter garbage

  • @sweetboyfaiz know your facts please you are talking bullshit,

    Mukesh ruled the 70s

begining with these songs 1970 - Bas Yehi Apradh Main Har Baar Karta Hoon song in the film Pehchan

1970 - Bas Yehi Apradh Main Har Baar Karta Hoon song in the film Pehchan

1970 - Bas Yehi Apradh Main Har Baar Karta Hoon song in the film Pehchan

1972 - Ek Pyar Ka Nagma song in the film Shor

    National Film Awards

1974 - National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for Kain baar yoon bhi dekhaa hai

  • @sweetboyfaiz

Rafi was a total failure in the 70s he went from the first place to the third, in the late 70s he conquered back the 1st place, his song were giving to Mukesh and Kishore take this one as example

youtube.com/watch?v=v2lxsXa_Nkk mukesh sings for dharmendra in the 70s, while Mohd rafi was his ghost voice, Mukesh singing for Rajesh Khanna in the 70s while Kishore was his ghost voice, hw can you possibly state that rafi alone ruled the 50s while mukesh was getting awarded in 59

  • @suriblingblinga

mukesh singing for amitabh while kishore was his ghost voice etc etc,

It is very stupid to say mukesh never ruled wuhauhauau, it shows how much you know, you aren't objective i suppose you are a Kishore Fan, that's why i understand your foolish comments, don't seperate emotions and facts.

  • really?

  • but then in the mid to late 70s Rafi arose again. therefore , the 1950s belonged to Rafi , as did the 1960s, and the late 70s.

  • no no no my frend!

50s was a Era of equality between Mukesh,Talat and Rafi sahab, Awarding singer started from 1959 so it is difficult to say ( looking at the facts) i suppose you're a Rafi fan can't blame you Rafi sahab is a hearth robbing singer, but the facts show us that the 50s was a Era of Talat Mukesh and Rafi sahab none was superior then, rafi took over in the 60s Mukesh took over in the 70s Kishore took over in the 80s ( acording to the facts)

Rafi got awarded in 2001(hero Honda)

  • @suriblingblinga

kishore took over in ate 60s, come on. he didn't take over in 80s, what r u talking about? Rafi took over in 50s parallel to others like mukesh an talat.

  • @pearl1729 No, according to the facts the 60s was ruled by Mohd rafi,

And i am happy to know that you are a kishore fan, cous indeed he was and still is a great singer, we can't confuse emotions to reality.

  • @suriblingblinga

it was 70s, kishore got to sing more songs in late 60s though he was not really rulling. rafi was rulling back then, kishore took it in 70s and 80s. rafi did it in 50s and 60s.

  • @pearl1729 indeed it was the 70s were kishore raised in the ranking, however Mukesh was on no.1 in the 70s, till 1977 when Mukesh jee sadly died.

Mukesh recieved the award after death for satyam sivam sundaram. so ranking 1970 to 1977 was 1 mukesh 2 kishore 3 rafi sahab. but then after 1977 Rafi sahab raised very fast from 3rd to 1st with his come back, in 1980 when Rafi sahab sadly dies, kishore took over from that point.

  • @pearl1729 quote: bring some faqs pleas, i know that you are a kishore fan, but according to the faqs:

Awarding singers started in 1959 were mukesh recieved the very first award for anari.

However the 50s were ruled by both Mukesh as Rafi, but also Hemant,Mahendra,Manna etc.

    Ranking 60s 1st=Mohd rafi 2nd= Mukesh 3rd=Kishore. talat mahmood's voice didn't suit the hero's anymore,and he was ill sadly.

    70s 1st mukesh-2nd kishore-3rd rafi sahab

    77-80s-Rafi Comeback

    80s-90s- Kishore era.

  • @suriblingblinga

u don't need to highlight that i am a kishore fan. LOL :) i am a fan of all the singers but 80/90s is not really kishore's best especially 90s. i am not talking about rank-1 but kishore did his best job in 70s, some in 60s and some in 80s.

it was 70s when rafi was a little insecure and met naushad to show his disappointments cause how come a more versatile and more classically trained singer would get less job than less trained kishore? this is a fact,

  • @pearl1729

Rafi sahab had his set back because the singing style changed,

the 70s did't have much classical based songs, but more modern kind songs.

Rafi sahab had to adapt himself to the new kind of singing style and he did that beautifully with kya hua tera vaada. you are right if you say that most of the rafi songs went to kishore da, but the kishore da songs went to mukesh for actors like amitabh,Rajesh,Jeetendra etc. i think kishore did his best in the 80s according to the awards.

  • @suriblingblinga talat was number one most of 50s while still making films.he lost later due to parkinsons which degraded his voice.

  • @ichimeinful

no the 50s were equally divided between Mukesh , MOhd rafi and Talat saab

talat sahab indeed sufferd from parkinsons, but that was not the main point for Talat sahabs lost, Talat sahab was mainly used and promoted by Naushad , but Naushad got enoiyed with talat smoking during recordings etc. from this point Naushad started to focus on other singers like Mukesh and Rafi and other directors followd Naushad in this.from this point Mohd rafi was the main singer for Naushad's songs cont

  • @suriblingblinga one music director cant affect the career of a singer like talat who sang for so many directors..personally speaking i like talats songs in 40s and 50s but not the few in 60s when his voice is so different. mukesh rafi and kishore had great voices till their death and there voices didnt change noticeably . if i noticed such a difference in his voice in 60s then surely music directors and other people must have noticed and avoided using talat to sing for them

  • @ichimeinful

    His voice changed?

What are you talking about my frend..

typ this on you tube and you'll know: Talat Mahmood Live Concert: Jalte hain jiske liye

here we have talat mahmood live during mid 60s

Naushad was one of the top music directors of that time, you are right if you say that there were others to indeed, for those talat sang the golden gems in the 50s

but Naushads boycott affected his career for sure

  • @suriblingblinga thanks for you comments..... i listened to original and concert of jalte hain jiske liye and found huge differnce, even my kids say same.. his voice in original is smoother and stronger...there is alwarys a difference in conert and recording but not to this degree.,, concert still is nice to listen to....im trying to understnd how a great singer for over 20 yrs almost overnight suddenly stopped..any songs original in mid 60s you know of where his voice is same as 50s..

  • @suriblingblinga perhaps you are right about naushad boycott over smoking but hard to believe only one director could destroy his career.. also i believe talat could sing faster songs. look at some of his earlier faster songs.. quite a few.. mukesh and rafi adapted and so could he..

  • @suriblingblinga 1969-1987-ONLY-KISHORDA, MERE YA TUMHAARE KAHNE SE RANKING NAHI BANTI.JUST GO TO BINACA GEETMALA OF AMINSAYANI AND FIND OUT WHOOSE SONGS R MOST IN CHARTS.HIGHEST PAID MALE SINGER -KISHORDA,HIGHEST NOS HIT IN BINACA-KISHORDA,HIGEST DEMAND FOR STAGE SHOWS-KISHORDA,SUPERSTAR-RAJESH-AMITABH KI AWAJ-KISHORDA,DAV SAHEB NEVER USED MUKESH RAFI AFTER 70 .HIGHEST ROYELTY-GETTING AMIT KUMAR. I M NOT UNDERSTANDING YOUR RANKING.LATALI SAID IN BBC INTERVEIW-KISHORDA IS BEST. TV PER K4KISHORE

  • @pks1911

kishore da was indeed the highest paid maile singer, because he charged the directors to much!

just like lata jee, lata jee and kishore were in the same team, due payment issues

well that's because Mukesh jee and Rafi sahab Died after the 70s... mukesh jee was at number one when he died, see my list of awards and nominations by mukesh jee in the 70s

  • hi..

well as far as awards are concerned yeah mukesh was certainly number one in the 70's but if u check the top selling records it was pretty evenly distributed, surprisingly between the singers.

i would like to add tht rafi got 70% of the votes in 2001 and lata 45% for male and female :)

and amitabh 60% for best actor

  • thank you for the add

Can you send me the site with the top selling records? would love to see it,

  • I like to add while rafi had his little set back people still bought his records for the years 50 and 60 that could be a reason why the selling of records was evenly distributed however it was mukesh who was no 1 in the 70 in all sights. Giving voice to the likes of Rajesh Khanna,Amitabh Bachan etc who mainly had KK as there voice,

However Rafi sahab and Kk gave many hit songs to those actors

  • no no yaar i meant stuff like hum kisi se kum nahin, even zamaane ko dikhana hai, etc

  • i commented in suriblingblinga's page.. sent the link.. abt 12 to 13 in the top 30 of the decade :D

  • can!t believe

  • But here i'll say that every singer has got his / her special lines / field... Just like Doctors, specialized in different fields.

Muhammed Rafi was good in all fields. Classical songs based on raag are the basic test for the singers, and some classical songs, sung by Muahmmed Rafi, I dont think any other singer in Indian film industry, or from Pakistani industry could do justice like he did...Like Madhuban mai radhika n Radheekey tuney bansri churai n Saaz hotum awaz hun mai..

  • Both were great singers, no doubt..... Kishor Kumar, in his line and Muhammed Rafi in his....

Kishor Kumar started by singing Idlli udloo songs, while Muhammad started his career from semi classicals, this doesnt mean am giving negative points to Kishor Kumar or he's incomplete, after all, stepping into Indian industry and staying there means something.

  • both kishor and rafi are great, but song is greatest..

  • Yes please listen to Rafi's voice. No doubt about Kishore's greatness, but this song is Rafi's ...and I am enjoying it too much to worry about comparing. I actually saw this movie with my parents in my childhood. Nice story line about an elder brother's jealousy and suspicion when bhabhi-devar love reaches divine heights.

  • Ok you win...No more arguments please....let's devote time in listening to more such melodies.....

  • with all due respect to your comment anandvyasorg...let me tell you that I am an audience and I have every right to make a statement whether you like it or not. It is because of the audience that today they are termed to be a as great...The job of an audience is not just to praise but also to criticise...and why do think that our views will match?...I am again repeating that KK was agood singer but not a COMPLETE one....

  • All due respect to you sir ... I am simply saying that "complete" is such an abstract word. Rafi-Ji himself has said that he could not do many of the things Kishore-Ji could do (like yodeling or simply IMPROVISING a melody to a very unique end) - does that make Rafi incomplete? No - it simply means that they both posses unique styles. And you are correct - we would not be here if not for the audience, I am sorry if I made you feel as if I was dis-regarding your comment. I was and am not.

  • Just a playful aside - a critics job is to criticize... An audience can listen or not listen. The artist and audience (especially live) are fused as one unit worshiping sound or "Nada". Leave the criticizing to the critics is all I am saying. They both deserve our praises. This world is too negative as it is. Of course - you say whatever you like sir.

  • i think the song is difficult for kishore tosing so it is sung by rafi

  • As Amitabh Bachan said, Kishore was not into much singing at that time due to his bussy schedule as an actor. I am not undemining Rafi as a singer but had he been so great kishore could not have uprooted him in 1969. When Kishore Kumar was at prime of his career as a singer ( 1969 onwards ) there was place for no one and that place still not occupied.....

  • rafi and manna dey r d 2 most accomplished and complete singers in our film industry.....KK is a good singer but not a complete singer......

  • Not complete? LOL - he, without training had the most perfect DEEP resounding voice in hindi Cinema. It is impossible to compare greatness. I dare to say that while Kishore Kumar was able to many things with his voice that Rafi was not able to do - and vice-versa. The proof is in the MUTUAL respect they both shared. Rafi love Kishore and Vice-Versa. Not complete? Who are you to judge greatness?

  • Mohd Rafi sang for kishore Kumar because Kishore Kumar didnot have time for recording as he was very busy due to his work with RD Burman and Rajesh Khanna at time. He also missed to sing in films like "Bobby" due to his busy schedule. KK had been the highest paid singer in Industry from 1969 to the time he died. In all the KK songs someone or other is always speaking ill about KK when comparing with Mohd Rafi. Both singers had different Genre, just enjoy songs folks, why are we arguing..?

  • please dont relate money with rafi, Rafi really never cared for money , so many songs he sang for free, when producers didnt have money , they still vouch that to him, money was never a problem for him. yes rafi and kishore were good, but rafi was excellent in all songs, and kishore needed good composer and good lyrics for his song to become good song..

  • So do many artists. Silly statement. That is what us good artists do - do things for the art itself.

  • Rafi sa'ab rafi sa'ab !! I used to argue with people who thought Kishore was better than him, but I have now understood that Kishore was for masses and Rafi sa'ab was for classes and masses will never understand it .... :P - so no arguments anymore.

  • kishore da is true class...GOD

  • I think KK did bigest mistake as actor to not use Mohd Rafi the plackback singer as did by shammi Kapoor.offourse there is noway to compare any singer with Mohd rafi as said by Mannay Day,when peaople like OP Nayar said that I am because of mohd Rafi that mean !!!!!!!????

  • Rafi was a good choice to sing this song for Kishore because Rafi had that special something required for the song situation. There are also those high and then low notes and the ghum in the voice. Kishore Kumar I am sure felt good and as a compliment lypsynching to rafi's voice. Kishoreda also sang some great classics when you hear his songs in Kati Patang and many others.

  • Kishore can't sing this song... high notes... even Parda Hai Parda was offered to Kishore, but he failed to sing it.

  • really ... you believe that!!!! may be you should listen to mere naina saawan bhado or even om shaanti om...

  • Nothing great, mere naina sawan bhadon... Lata's version was better.

  • @MrHusseinSheikh GO TO RD BURMEN COMMENT ON KISHORDA ON U TUBE

-LTAJI AND AASHA JI BOTH BECOME CAUNSITIOUS WHEN SINGING WITH DADA,

AASHAJI HEARS ONLY KISHORDA SONGS TO LEARN.YE AASHAJI NE KHUD INDIA TV PAR KISHORE TRIBUTE ME LIVE SHOW ME KAHA THA. KISHORDA KA PERFECTION SUEI KI NOK KI TARHEH THA.

  • @MrHusseinSheikh

are you in a campaign to prove the failure of kishore? you did type such comment in other videos. :) LOL

  • Very nice and soothing song. Nothing less can be expected seeing who the singer is. There is no point in getting into comparisons with Kishore-da - both were greats and beyond competition

  • As to why SJ chose Rafi to sing for Kishore Kumar is a mystery to me. Having said that I feel Rafi has done full justice to the song with his soft and golden voice when he raises his pitch beautifully with effortless ease to end the 'antara'. Shankar's fingers running on the piano keys for a perfect prelude is a beauty. Soft piano beats in the background during mukhda vocals is another jewel in the crown. Dialogue betweem flute, solo violin and piano in the interludes has SJ stamp .

  • Your observation is right.

  • A beggar can be a good singer too. You need not to be millionaire to become a singer Man! Think million times before writing such remarks for singers like Rafi, Kishore, Mukesh , Talat etc.

  • As your name suggests - you seem like a frustrated person. Only an Idiot wil make sucha comment. Get educated else stop listening to Music.

  • dude, watch your dirty mouth - and you glad that you r not facing any of rafisaab's fan directly-

writing comment like this tells a lot about you a peace of shi_ on earth- apologize for your comment if you respect the music.

  • That was very harsh! Rafi Sahab's voice may not have suited Kishore da, but is no way horrible! he sang very beautifully.

  • Dude... you just don't make such comments about Rafi-sahab's voice... it's criminal

  • Rafi saab is beyond rat race,,,,he was man of divinty,so beyond any comparison,,well, said by rebecca,,Rafi saab voice of god,,,see the energy in this song..

  • What a surprise! Well done Rafi Saheb

  • i personally admire Kishore da more, as he was as accomplished as Rafi sahab, but was from a family which was known for actors before his rise and also had no formal training in music. He had all natural talent and is as legendary as Mr. Rafi.

  • To each his own "pasand". Kishor da was a great singer but was not as accomplished as Rafi Saheb. Was Kishor ever given to sing classical songs (Baiju Bawara) or "Hir" style or film Pyasa style of songs or such songs as Din dhal jaye/Kya se kya(Guide) ? Fact is Kishor Da could sing MANY type of songs but Rafi could sing ANY type of song, including kishor type songs as in old film "bhagambhag". Kishor Da did not have "all" natural singing talent of Rafi Saheb , just ask any accomplished singer.

  • But we must give credit to whatever he could acheive. I'm not understating Rafi Sahab in any way, just praising Kishore Da's Efforts.

  • I think comparing two legends is like insulting them both. They both were great in their own rights. I think it all comes down to personal preference whom we like more and who's style of singing, voice etc.. pleases our hearts and minds more.

Anyone who's into old bollywood music, should appreciate what these two greats have done for the Indian music industry.

I personally like Rafi more but Kishore has sung some songs which Rafi sahab might not had sung as beautifully as Kishore da did.

  • Rafi is simply with voice of God ..,,don`t compare him

  • why fight on both legend?

  • no rafi is a good singer

  • Kishore looks better with Mohd Rafi's voice.

  • i will say M RAFI was the legendry singer among all the golden era's greatest singers. what you say guys.

  • Rafi had a cultured voice with a great classical base. When he sang it seemed as if Saraswati herself is sitting in his throat, strumming his vocal cords. Perfect singing is what we can say about him. He was a very good as a person too.

Kishore was a maverick, not trained but with infinite natural talent.

  • Continued...

He said that Rafi was much better than him but again that speaks volumes of the greatness of the this man too. It is true that Rafi who was head and shoulders above all singers in Bollywood started feeling somewhat insecure after Kishore did Aradhana and carried on to win back to back awards and monopolized the bollywoood playback singing scene.

  • With all respect to Rafi sahab and kishore da, and my dear friends you cant compare 2 diamonds of our industry.

  • very true my friend, both were gems of a kind and were equally accomplished.

  • thanx for posting which movie is this?

  • I agree Rafi is better than any singer of all times even Kishor da had admitted this many times.

But both neva fought over nethin, infact Rafi Saab gave away some songs to other singers including Kishor Da.

  • No one has believed that Kishore can sing sad song. But today know everybody that was very very wrong judgements

  • RAFI IS THE BEST BETTER THEN ANY SINGER

  • Rafi had more controlled voice. Youths may not agree for this but Rafi was really a better singer

  • dis videos shows rafi was betta then kishore !

  • Comment removed

  • First watch Kishoreda's movies such as Naukari, Bhai Bhai, Bandi, Door gagan ki chhaon mein and many others... to see what a master he was at seriour roles...

Any way this song was sung by Rafisaab because Kishoreda was too busy in acting in those days to even record his own songs..no doubt he had great resepct for rafisaab.. but the acting is because of the film situation...

  • Thanks for the upload. What an emotion filled beautiful song! After mukhda there is a so called 'emotoional dialogue' between English flute and solo violin in keping with the mood of the song. The musical genius of Shankar Jaikishan is at its best in the orchestration of this song. Violins playing in the background enhances the beauty of the song.
