man...DVD is the format is grew up on..i dont want it to die.. :D its good now nothing superior to blu ray will ever be released(though i thought the same when DVD was released) but now knowing everything about the format,the resolution the quality difference between DVD and blu ray...i can say that.

Last Year I spend on DVDS. This year I'm doing Blu-ray. I buy one every 2 months but I never spend more then $20. I get mine from Amazon and Ebay.

the quality of dvd is good enough ,why throw all of them away from my collection and start buying blu ray ? i will continue bying DVD`s.

First, I'm not telling anyone to throw their DVD's away. Second, It is projected that Blu-ray will overtake DVD by 2012. What you just said is almost as bad as someone saying, "i'll keep buying VHS," after DVD had started to become a viable format. Eventually Blu-ray will be the standard, so why not switch over?

from VHS to DVD there is a big difference but between dvd and blu-ray is not so much .If blu ray becomes a standard in a few years the won`t make more dvd players, if the one you have breaks down , we won`t be able to watch our collection of dvd`s,you know they use different tecnologies.

First, I have stuck in the blu-ray and dvd versions of certain films and there is a rather large difference in picture quality. Second, all blu-ray players play all dvds.

Mastrofell you can still watch DVD on a BD player, simply because Blu ray is an improved version ov DVD with a smaller write groove, and this is backwards compatible

bluray will not take over dvds but the blu ray player will take over the dvd player blu ray player update standard dvds to hd

I bought the Hong Kong horror film "Re-cycle" by the Pang Bros on blu-ray. I already owned the Region 3 dvd of it. The blu-ray version is awesome!!! Also, the Stephen Chow film "CJ7" is a good blu-ray to buy; great family film. The South Korean film "The Host" is a great blu-ray to buy as well.

I got an HD-DVD player for Christmas, before it was apparent that HD-DVD would fail. As for Blu-ray, it is projected that Blu-ray disc sales will top DVD by 2010. My blu-ray player is my PS3 and I wanted that for gaming anyway.

Who cares if they "failed big time" the DVDs (which are the same quality as Blu Rays) are about £2.99 a DVD!

They didnt fail big time either, it was a close battle i'm sure somone paid Toshiba to stop it.

Have u seen all the james bond movies? i admit that casino royale is awesome but doesn't deserve been called the best. it's easy to say that with the way movies are made nowadays. i'm not b*tching but everyone says that about the new bond. but wait, when the new one comes out everyone will thing it's the best. u should definitely watch all the bonds if u haven't. u just might change your mind. also i HATE what it says on the back "Daniel Craig is the best bond in the franchise" BULLSH*T!!!!

I actually think think that Sean Connery is the best James Bond. Having said that, I have seen a number of the Bond movies over the years and I liked Casino Royale the best. It was far darker and had a more in depth plot than any of the others I've seen. I'm not a person who likes things because it's the popular thing to do.

i did a dvd update this week. i hadn't bought any new blu-rays or hd-dvds then. i have since bought a couple and plan on buying more this week. i will do an update of blu-ray, hd-dvd, and dvd probably next week.

I want to buy HD movies and a player, and the only way to do it is buy HD DVD...but it sucks that movie studios are going away from HD DVD...the already own a 360, and the easiest way for me to go HD is HD DVD.

You can buy a combo player that plays both (just check the specs, out of the three players, one is the best and does upconverted dvd too).

Thanks, but that doesn't matter anymore, i decided to wait and buy a Blu-Ray player one day. The only HD DVD-only studio is Dreamworks and that's because their contract with Toshiba still counts (untill 2009) =P

One good thing is I guess hd-dvd prices will drop (so you can buy the exclusive movies now cheap or wait awhile to pay regular price when they get converted to blu-ray).

there are two main reasons for that. one is that i had the ps3 several months before i had an hd-dvd player, the other is that i have been hesitant to buy more hd-dvds since the CES announcement that WB is going exclusive to Blu-ray starting in may. this very well could kill hd-dvd, but it is possible that toshiba gets disney or fox to jump sides and that could even things out again.
