I ran the wire from the window mounted unit along my headliner then down the column on the drivers side. For the display unit, I had to remove the top piece of my dash to run the wires along the top (yet under the top plate) and the down the driver's side wall of the dash.
The control panel seems to be quite large, which is unfortunate for a 'remote' detector. The whole point of having a remote detector is to have everything concealed.
And I can't imagine that the receiver works any better mounted behind the mirror. I have one (a very old Whistler remote) mounted in my Silverado and it is behind the grille, where it works beautifully.
@ChevySS1968 - the remote head isn't too bad. I have a buddy that mounted his behind a dummy plate his truck had for where upgraded features would have been. I tried it behind the grill, but it seemed as though traffic blocked it's ability to perform (as well)
@ephoes - thanks man. I am probably gonna end up getting this one. My old Whistler remote still works great, and it must be 25 years old!
I really wanted to get a 'remote' with GPS function, but they don't seem to be available. Many windshield mounted detectors offer GPS, but they simply BEG thieves to break into your vehicle.
@ChevySS1968 - I have X band completely turned off which probably kills most of the falses. As for K and Ka, there are a few areas around town that I know are falses for K, but I have zero Ka falses. Not to say it won't false for Ka, but it doesn't for me.
Nice install. Do you have any experience with escort or beltronics detectors, and if so, how do you feel performance rates versus the whistler?

my escort solo s2 has a regular speaker port, will the voice module work?

@xXwhygodwhyXx - now that it's hard wired in, I can't test it, but it does appear to be a standard speaker cable/jack.
