The video poster's comments say that this style of music was, "only in retrospect tagged 'goth'." I like this song and video. I love guys in makeup. Guys wearing massacre are so gorgeous.
The video kind of reminds me of the concert scene on 1982's "Alone in the Dark" (really good horror/psychological thriller movie) when Dr. Potter, his way cool sister Toni, and his wife are listening to the song "Chop up Your Mother"!
well theirs Johnny slut(John Melton key bordist), Jon Klein(guitar),Olli Wisdom(singer),Kev Mills(bass), Chris Bell(drums) i always knew their names from this cd i had of theirs Azonic i think

The creators of the London club, the "Batcave" with Siouxsie and Robert Smith but it no longer wants to talk about this period !......very strange ....
I saw an interesting bat-shaped record of this for sale and decided to take a listen here. It's a "single" record with this on one side and "Returning from a Journey" on the other. Do you think it's worth anything much?
I have mint bat shaped vinyl of this and 12inch beauty of poison original batcave versions. I may be persuaded to part with them to a true enthusiast for an excessively gratuitous sum!!
"glam-horror postpunk".....why not just say Gothic? This is quintessential early Gothic music. This sound and deathrock (45 Grave most notably) ruled my early adolescence. Thanks for posting this!
i think batcave would be a more representitive label, i'd this is too experimimental and extravert. but the lines often blur in early goth. i guess that's why people come up with terms like "glam-horror postpunk", it's a way of not stepping on anyones toes.
Neither "gothic" nor "horror" were terms used to label this music at the time it was happening. It wasn't until later the label police came out. Way back when it was just an off-shoot of punk and glam.
Amazing batcave :) great video and song really got some go :) modern day bands like h.i.m are so shite iam so glad the new Death rockers are bringing back the real music and what its all about with soul and meaning.

WTF. This was one of my favorite songs back in my "goth" days. Watching this video makes me want to shoot myself. how Goth of me...or is it Emo now? ;)
They actually are making a remade batcave in La. though two clubs are fighting over the name, one club is more industrial crap and the other is actual Deathrock :O. I hope the deathrock one wins and the scene will probably grow again :3
I saw this band a couple times in the 80's and let me tell you, live... they SUCKED That bat cave thing was okay but I will take Christian Death any day. BTW this is the only good song on the record. Silly Ollie, what a rocky horror want to be.
Dang, what a bunch of homos... Not that I'm judging, to each their own. So this band is called Specimen? I like them better than Sex Gang Children... At least the singer actually sings. I can't stand Andi's singing.
Lol to say that marilyn manson stole from these guys is an insult to specimen. I don't see any similiarities at all and thank goodness for that, the confusion of styles is bad enough as it is.
Maybe its just me,but as someone who participates in the subculture I see the style as more than just wearing black. Specimen is deathrock, &has a very punk, diy style. Marilyn manson wears clothes that look like they came out of hot topic and were made in a factory, like those silly uniforms he wears. Maybe my taste is just more refined, but yeah I see no similarity in style (perhaps I see it as more than wearing black which is also incorrect.) &by style I mean also the substance, the ambience.
Marilyn Manson definitely has a deathrock influence, along with industrial and metal. he *is* a fan of Christian Death (the Rozz version), but having a slick image is what happens when one gets signed to a major label.
Lol he can be a fan of whatever he wants, he sure does aienate any deathrockers with music most deathrockers dont listen to; he just attracts the mallgoths &metalheads. Its like how 50 cent makes his gangsta rap and his concerts end up being mostly filled & teenage honkies from whiteyville. His style has no deathrock influence and its obvious; he takes from metal and shockrock. Industrial and metal have no connection to deathrock. Its not just a "slick image". Deathrock was just never popular.

First mention of 'post-punk' I saw in print was a Rolling Stone review of PiL's 'Paris au Printemps' plus JD's 'Closer'...
And some Wire review around the same time...
