@solareclipsedragon1 oh please, do yourself a favour and stop being so judgmental and ignorant. I probably love Coldplay more than you'll ever do, they made me the person I am today. But that doesn't mean I'm not able of critical thought. Their new music lacks the spark and the magic. It's overproduced and uninspired. I'm not gonna whine or complain about it, but that's the way I see it. And don't think it's easy for me to admit it. It hurts. But they're not that band anymore.

@useless987 It's good that you are capable of critical thought, but you have to remember to use it! "spark and magic" are the results of the individual listener applying extra emotions to a song because of sentimental value. It is all about when you started listening. I started with Viva, and that album, with all its religious themes, will always be their best. All the diverse instruments (overproduced stuff to you) made it all the more magical than these songs which all focus on the guitar.

@useless987 Don't get me wrong though, I still love this stuff. Obviously I didn't come to this page to hate. I haven't found a Coldplay song that I dislike to date. However, if this is the stuff they were coming out with now I would probably be disappointed that they lost heart. They haven't gotten any worse. In fact, I would be willing to bet that in fifty years, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends will be recognized as their most timeless album. Best album since Dark Side of the Moon.

@solareclipsedragon1 No one is perfect and no one can make good songs all the time. I will always gravitate back to their older stuff. Their new songs have that catchiness which makes them very easy to sing along to but when you (at least me) listen to songs like Only Superstition, Brothers and Sisters, Spies etc. I really miss this type of music and wished they had not moved away from it. Doesn't make me any less of a fan though.
