  • Workers of the world unite? Andy Stern? SEIU? The Democrats are socialists who love worker's rights because it fits the socialist narrative of oppressed groups.

  • UNION? - NO, NOT NOW, NOT EVER!

27yrs with Delta, we enjoy a great relationship with mgmt. - Unions destroy jobs, killed the shipping industry, killed the auto industry - JUST SAY NO - don't let em destroy the airline industry as well!!!

  • I think we have evolved as a business community to the realization that the employee is a throw-away commodity. Of course upper-management will never admit this; but what is important is having a competitive advantage even if it means utilizing the services of virtual min-wage slaves. Take, oh, say aircraft cleaners in MSP. They used to make 15 dollars an hour as union members. Post union? 9 bucks. Now? 6.50 an hour. That is competition! And if they get hurt? Fire 'em!

  • Only employers have rights. Employees have no rights. If having a salary is so oppressive to you then quit. I don't want shiftless employees anyway.

  • Firstly what are unions still around for? Transit workers cut off my city everytime there contract is up. This time they strikes to avoid paying for Obamacare. Secondly all employment should be made at will. No rubber rooms for pedophile teachers. It's professionalism. You do wrong you're fired.

  • @ToxicOdiousOne Typical fucking yank who believes everyone who disagrees with him is a COMMUNIST. If the minimum wage was abolished you would probably make all your workers slaves tomorrow wouldnt you? Unions are still around to pretect fair working conditions and to ensure they remain there. Because government can change the laws at anytime to suit big buisness, who are the secret rulers of your country. Weekends off, min wage, holiday pay, maternity leave etc can be taken away at any time.

  • fuck unions!!!

  • Unions are an invention of communism. It's not 1900 anymore. All unions do is impede productivity. Why this communism is allowed within corporate culture is beyond me. Income is not an entitlement and employment is not a guaranteed right.

  • @ToxicOdiousOne Because sonny there would be no such thing as a weekend of or a miimum wage without workers uniting together. Everything we have we have to fight for and in my expierience, bosses stand over workers whenever they can. If bosses (or would be slave masters like yourself) simply negotiated with workers instead of forcing overtime without pay for example, then there would be no need for workers to unite in the first place.

  • @ToxicOdiousOne You are so right on. Without unions and their influence, we could bring back 80 hour work weeks, GET RID OF MIN WAGE, bring back child labor (if the market demands it) and then maybe we could compete with the India's and Pakistan's of the world! Its called free market capitalism, and if people don't like it, MOVE TO RUSSIA! We (management) MUST have the flexibility to adapt to changing market conditions!

  • @TheCannonofMohammed It's rediculous how bad employees are protected and can't be fired.

  • @ToxicOdiousOne I think it is ridiculous that "good" employees can't be fired, too. Sometimes it is essential to arbitrarily fire a real good employee just to intimidate the rest into optimal performance. It works! Unions can totally foul up managements ability to legitimately intimidate their employees, and it costs the bottom line! All these unionists: MOVE TO SOCIALIST EUROPE! Leave America to those willing to work LONG and HARD for the sake of their corporate masters!

  • @TheCannonofMohammed Bring back 80 hour work weeks!?!? Please tell me your sarcastic right???

  • @Victorian105 Sarcastic? Well, maybe, but I'll never tell! :-)

  • So all you anti-union people believe corporations like Wal-Mart treat their employees fairly? Truth is the typical Wal-Mart employee qualifies for food stamps and other government aid due to the fact that Wal-Mart and other companies like them do not pay their employees a living wage much less provide adequate and affordable medical and dental insurance thus costing all the taxpayers more money. Too make a long story short unions are a necessary evil to maintain a balance of power.

  • I'm anti-union because unions would take money right out of the pockets of management. Then, they may go somewhere else where they can be better paid. We need our managers---RESIST THE UNION! WE NEED WELL PAID CEO'S! We need low-level workers to be paid minimum wage so they will quit before they get old. People like young f/a's and the company needs young baggage handlers before they get hurt on the job.

  • @TheCannonofMohammed Your views make you pro-slavery.

It's all scare tactics isnt it?

Unions and it's members DO NOT fight to stop companys from making a profit and they don't fight to reduce pay of CEO's and management. Look at any union mission statement they only fight for fair wages, nothing more. As another commenter said unions are a necessary evil to maintain a balance of power.

I hope you get underpaid or ripped off by your employer so then you wouldn't have such a big mouth dickhead.

  • Unions are a scourge. They promote laziness and mediocrity. Take personal responsibility people! Dare to excel!

  • can i ask out of curiosity what you do for a living? and whats your personal experience with unions that make you think their lazy? do you know what the fuck your talking about or are you just some fuck wad who likes to spew what t.v. has told you?

  • I am an engineering manager. Over the course of my career, I have had a number of experiences with unions (See next two comments).

  • The first was while working as a teenager for my father's mining operation. There were several men working a site outdoors on a very hot day. I knew that they had been out there a good while with no relief. The union guy whose responsibility it was to drive the water truck to their location was nowhere to be found (as usual) so I drove the water truck down to their location myself. Well, the union hacks got their panties in a wad and threatened to strike over that incident.

  • Rather than simply being glad that someone got water to these men or working to help the individual whose job it was to improve his performance, the union bowed up and made trouble for the company. This, I learned, was typical union behavior and this attitude promotes a lack of productivity and irresponsibility (i.e. laziness and mediocrity) amongst the union members.

  • Another incident occurred while I was a young engineer at Hewlett Packard. I scheduled a trip to perform some onsite software enhancements for a company in Virginia. Once there, I was informed that there were only certain union personnel that were authorized to "type on the keyboard" of the subject computer and they expected me to modify the software by telling this union hack what to type while standing over his shoulder.

  • Not only was such an arrangement grossly inefficient, but anyone that writes code will tell you that it is practically impossible to modify and troubleshoot test code in this manner.

Again, no consideration to basic logic or what was best for the company on the part of the union.

I have many more such stories, but so does everyone else that has ever encountered union labor.

I'll say it again. Unions are a scourge

  • Finally someone on youtube with common sense. Unions are destroying America. The workers who are not union who do most of the work for smaller wages and less benefits should be the ones getting promoted instead of the unions who just sit around or do "half-ass" jobs and get better benefits.

  • the bit where you say i was working for my father's mining company says alot but "engineering manager" in other words "boss". mate be at the bottom of the food chain n get screwed by your dad or someone like yourself.

  • Unions are the parasites leaching off members' dues and companies in America. Look at the companies going UNDER, enough said.

  • Why work when you can be a CEO and make 400 times the average employee?

America is weaker today because Unions are weaker. Look at the 50's-70's. Strong Unions, strong workforce, strong earnings. Look at today. Smashed Unions, strong Execs, poor employees.

  • right on..plus, if you a ceo, you get a contract...that would be cool!

  • looks like Obamma is still supporting Corporate Welfare to me.

  • @SpinBoldak Yes well that would be sel employment. What do you have toofer to customers of value for a price? See most aren't skilled enough to be self employed and their businesses fail. Your offering has to be desired by your customers.

America is weak because unions are obsolete. No more social engineering in the wokplace.

  • Unions! The best disease American has ever exported to the world.

    Why work? Vote union!

  • People like are you are parasites and are going to become extinct very soon. corporate welfare is on it's last leg.
