i rented this car for 4 days and all i can say is that gm might very well be the biggest POS company in the free world, if they can't get it right now, they never will.
and as for it hitting 0-60 in 6.1 seconds....that is bullshit...every other camaro that i have seen so far..be it the v6 or the v8 automatic or manual, they are all at least 4.7 to 4.8..sooo wtf?

they need to really test it.. cmon.. this isn't testing it... I would fucking haul all in it.. And see if the thing can handle turns.. which i know it wont.. Plus they cheaped out on the interior.
this car is going to be my college graduation gift to myself as well. I'm thinking about plopping $1000 or so down on a "clunker car" and then turning around and trading it in for the $4500 haha. We'll see if I can pull that off or not.

Had the displeasure of renting one of these. Extremely cramped in both front and back seat. A friend that's 5'6" had about 0.5" of headroom in the backseat. Uninspirational acceleration. Can't see out - the side door windows are about 12 inches high and the windshield isn't much better. Docile exhaust note. Might look good on the outside and in movies, but sorry GM, it's a piece of crap.
I'm so excited now that there is the car and clunker voucher coming out if a person has a lets say 17mpg highway they could get a 4500$ voucher for a car like this cause it is 29mpg highway I'm going to do this for my college graduation gift to myself and working two jobs to get a 12000$ dollar down payment I know it will be a lot of hard work but it will be worth it in the end.
SS MODELS: 6.2 liter V8 pushin out 400 hp in auto and 426 in stick. NAturally aspirated engine (no turbo) has brembo brakes and has alot of cool tech stuff....IM GETTING THIS AS MY FIRST CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! already got my ordered one comin in to the Dealer
Yeah no difference in performance for the 2SS over the 1SS. Alot of the addons for the 1SS come standard on the 2SS; additionally, the custom paint work on the engine compartment and available wheel packages. Cha-Ching - got mine ordered 1SS for less than $33K!!!
@380Banshee Although this engine would shut the "econo-nuts" up. It has the Active Fuel Management system, so both V8 and V6 will shut down cylinders when it doesn't need them e.g idling in traffic.
The Mustang is also lighter and better balanced. Who even knows if the new Camaro with stick around after its produced anyway. GM is in such trouble they have to cut Pontiac, Saturn, Hummer, and Saab.

GM 40+years to put a decent interior in the Camaro and Vette, GM hands down has beaten Ford in powertrain performance year after year with no contest.
I dont know what you'd say about me but for me, the camaro looks better and heck it can corner better. Not that it can compete with eurocars and jap cars in cornering but the camaro was built to compete with the american muscle car genr (excluding the Chevrolet corvette since its in a much higher league) and this is probably better at handling. I'll take this over a mustang and challenger anyday or i'll buy a 2nd hand c6 z06 corvette with the tires changed (The rides not smooth w/ racing tires).
of course its gonna compete with jap cars. it gets around 0.90 on the skid pad. 0-60 in 4.5 sec, and quarter mile in 12 somethin i believe. it'll definitely compete with the jap cars.
How on earth is the side copied off the Challenger??? At least this car is original. Although I have to agree that I like the Challenger allot, it's nothing new. It's just an updated version of the 1970 one.

The design is based on the original Camaro...which was released BEFORE the Challenger. And besides the Camaro is sexier, faster, more fuel efficent, and cheaper than the Challenger... but sexiness is subject to debate...
i'll take this over the challenger, they are both around the same price range but Camaro offers a lot more HP for its price and MPG, and the design is more sexier

The Camaro sits on shortened G8 floorpan. If you look up "VE Holden Commodore," you'll see the "parent" version of the G8. The Camaro is built in Canada, but was developed in Australia

Yes, but they designed the engines to handle all the weight easily. It is very heavy, but gets awesome fuel economy (27 MPG V6. 23 MPG V8) It doesn't feel heavy when you drive it. I rode in it for a minute @ Indy 2008, and if feels like it's maybe 3300 pounds. It's probably due to the Independent rear Suspension (something Mustang and Challenger don't have)
You want to get a cheap camaro? Don't buy them for a couple of months, then they will bring the price down to get sell them. See GM is going to bump up the price a lot to recover from their mess right now, so want to save a few bucks, its up to you. Don't buy a car because you want to be the first one to have it, remember others will buy one too.

@kizzaneSS If you mean the LAST GTO, you are pretty ignorant. It's based on the Holden Monaro, and Holden NEVER amde a fullsized ANYTHING that was front wheel drive. The GTO and G8 are really the Holden Monaro and VE SS Commodore respictively with a few trim changes

Is it any wonder GM is going to fail? With vehicles like the Hummer, full size Trucks and SUV's, GM is out of touch. We also have a Corvette, a 400 hp, front wheel drive GTO and Impala SS. Not really apples to apples. The SS is in targeted as a competitor to the GT and R/T not the Shelby's or SRT's.
However, the SS is somewhere in between the GT or R/T and the Shelby, SRT.
SS bang for the buck looks great. The SS motor is in the same ballpark as the SRT8, not sure about the Shelby's.
Anyways, it's not really an apple to apple comparison.

@jlenney American muscle yes. American designed? The engine, yes. The rest of the car was designed and developed by GM Holden, whom built the Pontiac G8 and GTO. The Camaro sits on shortened G8 floorpan. If you look up "VE Holden Commodore," you'll see the "parent" version of the G8. The Camaro is built in Canada, but was developed in Australia

You gotta remember that he's doing a review here in front of the camera, and he probably KNOWS the answers to the questions he's asking.....he still has to play "dumb" so that ppl watching this video (who DON'T know much about the Camero) get many of their questions answered from hearing the engineers spout out the FACTS surrounding this car. This looks like a great car! That 3.6 L used as a base engine is a GREAT engine....it does a fabulous job in the Cadillac CTS.....

I don't get it, ive got a 87 trans am with the 305 tpi and i can get an easy 25 mpg on the highway and they say that this 2010 v6 camaro only gets 26-27 highway mpg.

Newer cars come with steeper gears that offset all the new technology.
Your 87 prob has 2:82 rear gears unless you changed them...the camaro prob has 3:46s

Yes, but they designed the engines to handle all the weight easily. It is very heavy, but gets awesome fuel economy (27 MPG V6. 23 MPG V8) It doesn't feel heavy when you drive it. I rode in it for a minute @ Indy 2008, and if feels like it's maybe 3300 pounds. It's probably due to the Independent rear Suspension (something Mustang and Challenger don't have)

See GM is going to bump up the price a lot to recover from their mess right now, so want to save a few bucks, its up to you. @kizzaneSS If you mean the LAST GTO, you are pretty ignorant. It's based on the Holden Monaro, and Holden NEVER amde a fullsized ANYTHING that was front wheel drive. The GTO and G8 are really the Holden Monaro and VE SS Commodore respictively with a few trim changes

Is it any wonder GM is going to fail? With vehicles like the Hummer, full size Trucks and SUV's, GM is out of touch. We also have a Corvette, a 400 hp, front wheel drive GTO and Impala SS. (WTF) Who would want one their small cars? With a proven car like the Corolla, even the Hyundai! A top GM executive was heard saying "People will still buy SUV's, no matter what the price of gas is."
