yeah this is my brother he has had this for years and my buggy going to go in street machine too. dad had a big crash. and the funny thing is he calls me bmba so now i call him crash bandicouit but the funniest thing of all is that i am my dads son and mum and dad arent married so me and dad are different and about to months ago i went of a road that wasnt finished but i went over the top and it was about 20 meters high so dad had to fix that aswell and dad said i could enter the drags aswellfun
Yeah, We just cut off the excess from the gear box end (which had to be changed anyway to suit the ford) and then dad fixed it up (hes a boily). are you planning on using the the dattos engine, gearbox and chassis or replacing the engine/chassis.
how did you do the steering, and did you bother with suspention???? im wanting to build somehting like that with an old datsun i have rusting out the back yard
What we did was take the chassis (cut the body off) and rolling gear off of an old LiteAce van. So the suspension is a stocker, but pretty much rock hard, just Leaf springs. That way it stays nice and flat on the ground, with practically 0% body roll. Steering is stock as well, no power steering pump or anything, we just made our own braces and extended the pipe to clear the engine. If you've got any more questions, feel free to ask!!!
i have about a million questions..... cause im hoping to start on the datsun buggy tomorrow, did you have to shorten the driveshaft and make up any engine mounts. ill make some vids of my progress
Yeah we had to shorten the tailshaft by heaps. originally, it would have come close to 2m, but we cut it down to about750mm. Also, being a ford gearbox but toyota diff, we had to do a bit of work on converting it to suit both ends. Engine mounts were also home made, because of the ford mounts not matching up with the Toyota studs, so we went 50/50. lemme no when you get the vids up!!
haha yea i know you did lol. not much really going out next weekend to the river but that'll probably be it until we rebuild the motor. dirt drags might be cancelled this year too! cops are saying they dont want it to happen coz of their liquor license or something like that.
