The jazz and soul he gets into his beats is always top notch. I agree that with some of his newer stuff he has missed some of the taste he had but for me, his tracks like TROY or remix of Get on the Mic make him untouchable.
Everyone has a few favourites, he is my favourite.
@GozerTheGozerian honestly, i think he's still a very good producer. it's hard to be as classic as you once were back in the 90's but he's done fairly well in my opinion.
@ssaleem92 You're right, I would never hate on the man for getting a paycheck and putting food on the table. But like so many of us, I long for the days of boom bap beats, witty wordplay and Golden Era swagger, not bullshit like "This is why I'm hot, this is why I'm hot."

The beat is by Pete Rock.
Has that man ever made a shitty beat? Only when he was trying to change his style to match the garbage-ass style of newer producers.
But classic Pete Rock is on the same level as Large Professor, Havoc, Premiere and RZA...just classic New York hip hop sound.
