Things I see wrong with this version : Well, he's got a girl, a baby on the way, and a medal of St. Christopher -- something tells me he's going to survive and not go the Existentialist route of thge original. (To tell the truth, I wasn't sure how the original was going to end, but this version is telegraphing its punches).
This version is keeping the 'folk hero' bullshit idea intact. Haven't had one of those since the bank robbers of the Depression. Completely unrealistic.
