one of my favorite hc band. i think they a VERY very underrated. Evereyone who's jerking off on Misery Signals, it Prevails or hundredth must listen this band everyday
i cant understnad wat they are saying. great music but idk wat the lyrics are. Can some tell me if the lyrics are more understandable off an album or are they the same as live?
Probably the most underrated band of ALL time. I think it's because people are scared to like a band named 'Shai Hulud' not a common name and you aren't cool if you don't know what it means. Fuck that.
I think its a good thing Shai Hulud never blew up, they have literally a cult following. Every show I've been to, the fans have been phenomonal. If you're into Shai Hulud, there is no in between, you rock! This is one of my favorite songs by them, (scornful of the motives and solely concentrating) are so inspiring. One of the very very few bands that have survived this long, and kept true to what they believe. Matt Fox is my hero.
Show on March 25th: SHAI HULUD, Bayonet (Senses Fail vox, ex The Banner), In Alcatraz 1962, Chambers & Forgotten Sons at THE CLASSROOM 1665 route 211 in Middletown, NY. Come out!
Chad left this band in 1997. I'm only 25 but I never saw this band with Chad. I saw them when I was a freshmen in high school and they had Geert, who I think sounds better. Don't get me wrong, a hearts once nourished is an amazing album, but blood ill tempered had some good tracks on it as well. Geert live was awesome. I wish he'd rejoin the band.
They were officially a straight edge band until 1998, they don't officially promote any views anymore. I'm pretty sure the two Matts are still straight edge though.
actually, i disagree, i went ot seem them about 6 months ago and they had a vegan booth in the corner of the room, and in the other corner had a peta booth, so i think they still promote them
can all you cunts shut the fuck up about what you think of shai hulud. nobody gives two shits if you don't like them. and why aren't you faggots stoked on the snapcase! new jacks probably don't even know what was going on.
Damn i wish i hadn't missed hellfest. I hope they bring it back. I'm glad Shai Hulud returned from hiatus ( i know this is old news but i've been away from the scene for a few years now) Only time i saw them was back in 2004 and the show changed my life. No joke
I cant believe these guys are on the bottom of a bill with set your goals, bayside and new found glory above them. Biggest injustice known to man.
I remember when they came, one of the best shows of my life. Matt Fox gave me the choice between heart "bleeds the darkest blood" and "given flight". I chose the latter, and have not once regretted it :)
@terrorstorm666 I vote that set your goals nfg and bayside should be removed from the show and replaced with Strife, The Nerve Agents, and Nofx or The Vandals.
Why? The stage is at most 4.5 feet tall. Even a total pansy would do it, even if the audience just let him drop. Such things should be the least we expect from live performers.
I have to say this is one of Shai Hulud's key pieces. Their message really shines through the lyrics and the guitar riffs as well, it has a transcendental feel about it. A band with conviction which very few have these days. Very goo piece, very good band.

c'mon guys can you hear yourselves.... "oh my god words cannot express my love for this band".. fuckin faggot.... They're ok, but not unique... they are typical snapcase school....
i would have given anything to be there.. oh my god.. they sounded amazing and that crowd is evidence. i got goosebumps just watching the youtube video. probably would have shit my pants if i were there
Oh my god. Words cannot express my love for this band.
Geert was easily the best vocalist of Shai Hulud in my opinion. I just love how he constantly swtiches from talking to all out screaming. Adds alot of emotion.
He runs out of steam REALLY fast. He can't keep the vocals up for that long. Plus, he's more metalcore oriented while the older vocalists were more hardcore oriented. Listen to "Given Flight By Demons Wings." That's the all-time best Shai Hulud song (in my opinion).
And by the way, what the fuck do you all have against homosexuals?! The lead singer of Sigur Rós is a homosexual and he's one of the greatest guys out there. When do you stupid kids stop offending people by calling them homosexual because your "faggot"- and "cocksucker"- sayings don't mean anything else than that!?
Each of those stupid opinions will one day just lead to the death of all music. We got lots of great stuff out there, so who gives anything about which is the right definition for it!? You can without a doubt either enjoy the music or say that you do not like this. It's okay but just stop complaining and posting childish comments, for fuck's sake!
Oh,f##k off with this trying to be cool with the "I don`t like Norma Jean anymore cause metalcore is kind of nu-metal"-shit. Norma Jean are great,so are Unearth. And definitely Shai Hulud. And Buried Inside. There`s crap and there`s great stuff in almost every genre (As I Lay Dying=CRAP, Matodon=GREAT). Dorks.
I think As I Lay Dying is pretty cool, but Norma Jean suck cock. At least AILD has real hardcore punk influences, like Shai Hulud. And Lambesis was the guy who sent the Hulud demo to Metal Blade.
I saw Norma Jean open for Unearth in anaheim in 2004...NJ was the worst band I'd ever heard...Unearth made sitting through NJ worth it though, amazing live band.
Ok to break the negative "who's hardcore and who's not"-energy, a little pop-quiz: who can tell me the name and song of the small part played from 0:55 til +/- 1:10? And i'll give you guys a headstart... it's not shai hulud and we're looking for a cd released in 1993...the band was legend
i've never really liked the term metalcore. when i first heard the term metal core is when i used to like norma jean. i no longer do, so the term is dead to me. i like the term hardcore though and i like to label shai hulud as a progressive hardcore band
all thats necessary to ignite the flames of youth and freedom - Fuck your guitar solo's - while they are nice once in a while you don't have to be one of those pricks who thinks your musical preferance is better then someone elses
strongarm one of the most influential? I'd say Minor Threat, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth Of Today, Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front, Bad Brains, Dag Nasty, Unbroken, and Strife

not only are you a fucking retard for commenting on a band's video and calling it retarded... but you are a fag who saves "beginner long board" videos to your account. consider yourself lucky that you even heard of "the lud" .... keep riding your long board faggot...

it was one of shai hulud's former singers chad gilbert who went to play guitar in new found glory, not geert

simpler times... i miss the days of hulud, shelter, snapcase, etc. all hardcore before the term got so cynical and sub-genrified. just good aggressive music with heart.
