  • SNAPCASE!

  • this makes me think of the local concerts i go to but bigger. i love this

  • THIS SONG IS FUCKING CLASSIC

  • Geert rules even when he's not trying.

  • @0:14 some unlucky guy gets stomped in the face by a poor attempt to jump on a crowd..

  • Wow, the singer has torrets .

  • @Belial690 I hope that's you being ironic.

  • @scrugbyhk Right!? Lol! Iwas like "WTF?" haha

  • Looks like Jim Carey is playing drums for Shai Hulud! ha!

  • why the hate? NFG and SYG are both great bands.

  • the snapcase part hahaha, oh wow.. i haven't seen this in years. still my favorite band, for about 10 years now.

  • Damn, I wish I was there. The greatest hardcore band that ever existed.

  • Rad Snapcase shoutout at 0:55 Fuck... I miss shows....

  • one of my favorite hc band. i think they a VERY very underrated. Evereyone who's jerking off on Misery Signals, it Prevails or hundredth must listen this band everyday

  • @iVomitfulloffASSness Funny. All those bands you named wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Shai Hulud or 7A7P.

They pretty much created progressive metalcore as a whole.

  • i cant understnad wat they are saying. great music but idk wat the lyrics are. Can some tell me if the lyrics are more understandable off an album or are they the same as live?

  • убогая хуйня

  • @vladikus2007 не пошел бы ты нахуй, дружок

  • @zebrgconsciencia i know a guy who became a quadraplegic that way. stage diving is for scumbags

  • @asenseofhate I knew A guy who tripped out his front door and died. going outside is for scumbags.

  • @asenseofhate Sounds like that crowd was a bunch of scumbags for not catching him.

  • this is so passionate

shai hulud is and will stay unique in hardcore

  • what snapcase song is at :55

  • @bister Hopeing I wasnt the only one on here who noticed that =]

    Its Drain me/ Filter

  • @bister Drain me

  • They're simply the most artistic metallic hardcore band ever!

  • seeing them on groezrock 2011

  • this was the perfect line up

to bad like almost everyone quit the band

    expect matt fox

  • NICE VIDEO !!!!

  • i just realized dracula with glasses comes on after this. i need to get my hands on this dvd or whatever this is

  • best hardcore band ever, then maybe hopesfail lol

  • no groove

  • Probably the most underrated band of ALL time. I think it's because people are scared to like a band named 'Shai Hulud' not a common name and you aren't cool if you don't know what it means. Fuck that.

  • This video brought me many joys with my friends

  • welcome tu kuala lumpur shai hulud..

  • I think its a good thing Shai Hulud never blew up, they have literally a cult following. Every show I've been to, the fans have been phenomonal. If you're into Shai Hulud, there is no in between, you rock! This is one of my favorite songs by them, (scornful of the motives and solely concentrating) are so inspiring. One of the very very few bands that have survived this long, and kept true to what they believe. Matt Fox is my hero.

  • As much as I love Snapcase, they chose to play it over one of my favorite parts of this song. Either way, great song.

Tony Tintari was my favorite Shai Hulud drummer aside from Steven. He was always super energetic.

  • Comment removed

  • Most passionate and intense band ever...

  • o shit! hell fest 03! i used to have this dvd haha

  • pause at 0.14 haha watch that guy stagediving and the guy in front of the stage..that hurts.

  • Hey guys which song of snapcase is being played here partly?

  • Drain Me.

  • thanks!

  • @lovecraftx Drain Me

  • thank you too :)

  • They play Snapcase at 00:56! :) RESPECT!

  • drain me!

  • sandworm

  • I heard that one of the members of new found glory is in this band.

  • chad gilbert was the original singer

  • chad gilbert, the guitar player for newfound glory used to be the singer for shai hulud

  • Which is why NFG deserves respect.

  • Yeah Chad was pretty good but Geert was the perfect voice for this band.

  • I miss Chad being in this baaaaaaaaaand.

  • You seem like you've got a good head on your shoulders, but neither you nor I even knew about that when it happened.

  • Yeah. Sucks a lot.

But I think he's better off where he is now.

Although this band was worth staying in.

  • Chad left this band in 1997. I'm only 25 but I never saw this band with Chad. I saw them when I was a freshmen in high school and they had Geert, who I think sounds better. Don't get me wrong, a hearts once nourished is an amazing album, but blood ill tempered had some good tracks on it as well. Geert live was awesome. I wish he'd rejoin the band.

  • i heard they were vegan straight edge - thats true?

  • Some are, some arent, they object to be defined by labels like vegan, christian, straight edge, because none of those things are their message.

  • no, look it up on wikipedia. it has a quote from 1 of the band members. he explains it

  • They were officially a straight edge band until 1998, they don't officially promote any views anymore. I'm pretty sure the two Matts are still straight edge though.

  • actually, i disagree, i went ot seem them about 6 months ago and they had a vegan booth in the corner of the room, and in the other corner had a peta booth, so i think they still promote them

  • If speaking upon Chad, yes.

  • love the snapcase teaser in the middle of this song!

  • can all you cunts shut the fuck up about what you think of shai hulud. nobody gives two shits if you don't like them. and why aren't you faggots stoked on the snapcase! new jacks probably don't even know what was going on.

  • I CANT GET TIRED OF SHAI HULUD!!!

HE SAYS WHAT I CANT SAY!!!!

    the video is awesome, HEHEHEHE!

  • I can watch this video a million times, and it never gets old. I fucking love Shai Hulud.

  • At 0:14 the stage diver totally stepped on that dudes face.

  • no.

  • fuckin hellfest better rec my boys, hard shit right meeee

  • Fuck why is hellfest dead,i miss it, i miss so damn much...

  • it's funny when they break into snapcase and most of the new schoolers have no clue whats up

  • LOL yeah I was thinking that myself.

  • Haha I cought that too...cool of them to do that...Lookinglasself was a great album.

  • these guys are so underrated, theyve been around what 10 yrs now?? definately top guitarists too.

  • Damn i wish i hadn't missed hellfest. I hope they bring it back. I'm glad Shai Hulud returned from hiatus ( i know this is old news but i've been away from the scene for a few years now) Only time i saw them was back in 2004 and the show changed my life. No joke

  • Always my life's anthem.

  • I cant believe these guys are on the bottom of a bill with set your goals, bayside and new found glory above them. Biggest injustice known to man.

I remember when they came, one of the best shows of my life. Matt Fox gave me the choice between heart "bleeds the darkest blood" and "given flight". I chose the latter, and have not once regretted it :)

  • @terrorstorm666

I would have choosen the first one anyday :p

  • @terrorstorm666 I vote that set your goals nfg and bayside should be removed from the show and replaced with Strife, The Nerve Agents, and Nofx or The Vandals.

  • i love rebecca black

  • Luv 'em.

  • snapcase

  • better

  • 0:55 to 1:07 is EPIC!!!!!

  • this has got to be my favorite Shai Hulud song... and my favorite part of it starts at 2:24

so i gotta give some major props to that stage dive at 2:26 as well. awesome!

  • Why? The stage is at most 4.5 feet tall. Even a total pansy would do it, even if the audience just let him drop. Such things should be the least we expect from live performers.

  • stage dive at 2:26 is awesome! props!

  • I have to say this is one of Shai Hulud's key pieces. Their message really shines through the lyrics and the guitar riffs as well, it has a transcendental feel about it. A band with conviction which very few have these days. Very goo piece, very good band.

  • listen to moar turning point if you're into this band

  • i would have given anything to be there.. oh my god.. they sounded amazing and that crowd is evidence. i got goosebumps just watching the youtube video. probably would have shit my pants if i were there

  • geert and chad were both great. i prefer chad, but the new stuff geert is doing, the black atlantic, is golden. everyone should check it out.

  • its definitely a weird style. i wouldnt say its golden but its definitely interesting...very soft.

  • such a good band...

amazing talent and creativity for this genre of music :-)

  • Oh my god. Words cannot express my love for this band.

Geert was easily the best vocalist of Shai Hulud in my opinion. I just love how he constantly swtiches from talking to all out screaming. Adds alot of emotion.

  • i think this is from the 2000 dvd.

  • Hellfest DVD

  • 2002 actually.

  • what year is this from?

  • 2002 i guess

  • let me rephrase my last comment...

Chad gilbert = best shai hulud singer ever

  • eh, Geert's scream was far more steady

the A Profound Hatred for Man reissue rules

but, Hearts Once Nourished still rules too

  • Their new singer is alot better

  • He runs out of steam REALLY fast. He can't keep the vocals up for that long. Plus, he's more metalcore oriented while the older vocalists were more hardcore oriented. Listen to "Given Flight By Demons Wings." That's the all-time best Shai Hulud song (in my opinion).

  • And by the way, what the fuck do you all have against homosexuals?! The lead singer of Sigur Rós is a homosexual and he's one of the greatest guys out there. When do you stupid kids stop offending people by calling them homosexual because your "faggot"- and "cocksucker"- sayings don't mean anything else than that!?

  • You're a faggot.

    (I'm joking around)

  • Haha, I got it^^

  • Each of those stupid opinions will one day just lead to the death of all music. We got lots of great stuff out there, so who gives anything about which is the right definition for it!? You can without a doubt either enjoy the music or say that you do not like this. It's okay but just stop complaining and posting childish comments, for fuck's sake!

  • just fucking enjoy the music and lyrics you bunch of pricks

  • Oh,f##k off with this trying to be cool with the "I don`t like Norma Jean anymore cause metalcore is kind of nu-metal"-shit. Norma Jean are great,so are Unearth. And definitely Shai Hulud. And Buried Inside. There`s crap and there`s great stuff in almost every genre (As I Lay Dying=CRAP, Matodon=GREAT). Dorks.

  • I think As I Lay Dying is pretty cool, but Norma Jean suck cock. At least AILD has real hardcore punk influences, like Shai Hulud. And Lambesis was the guy who sent the Hulud demo to Metal Blade.

  • I saw Norma Jean open for Unearth in anaheim in 2004...NJ was the worst band I'd ever heard...Unearth made sitting through NJ worth it though, amazing live band.

  • man feels like i was there yesterday haha

  • I saw them live in NZ.... yeaaaaah

    dope band

  • fucking awesome performance S.H is freaking awesome huhu

  • on 0:55 is an intro of a snapcase song "drain me filter"

  • Ok to break the negative "who's hardcore and who's not"-energy, a little pop-quiz: who can tell me the name and song of the small part played from 0:55 til +/- 1:10? And i'll give you guys a headstart... it's not shai hulud and we're looking for a cd released in 1993...the band was legend

  • Incredible performance.

  • i just like to listen with my pants off and see how big my penis gets and then i know if i'm listening to really cool music or not. shit shit

  • fuck that label shit, anyway whatever they are,SH is still a great fuckin band

  • to end all your petty squiblings, SH has said themselves that they are a progressive band

    NOT METAL

    NOT HARDCORE

AND SURE AS FUCK NOT METALCORE

  • that's stupid, along with converge shai hulud is one of the "real" metalcore bands, no mainstream/emo shit

  • Not metalcore? fuck off go suck dicks

  • i've never really liked the term metalcore. when i first heard the term metal core is when i used to like norma jean. i no longer do, so the term is dead to me. i like the term hardcore though and i like to label shai hulud as a progressive hardcore band

  • what? norma jean suck lol

  • yea they do suck lol

  • norma jean are awesome ;)

    tour machines

  • For anybody who listens to norma jean and thinks they have an original sound should listen to botch. Norma Jean practically ripped off botch's sound

    in other words

    Shai hulud rules.

  • fuck ya man, botch is amazing! along with converge

  • botch is fucking great.

    converge rules as well

  • Hey basket of opinions, I'm a basket of vegetables.

  • that is pretty darn boss.

  • lolinorite.

  • one of THE original metalcore bands...Shai Hulud kicks ass!!

  • fucking sick!

  • nope, you are a fucking loser, this is not metal you faggot this is HARDCORE!

  • and i'm guessing most of your metal bands listen to shai hulud. so the bands that you listen end up being losers too

i'm sure shai hulud is not for everybody. but you definitely dont need to piss other people off just because you dont like them

  • fuckig morron

  • this is music

    passion, aggression and energy

all thats necessary to ignite the flames of youth and freedom - Fuck your guitar solo's - while they are nice once in a while you don't have to be one of those pricks who thinks your musical preferance is better then someone elses

in short - suck my dick!

  • if this is not music then you are not gay

  • this is real music....

    not some fake shit!

und this is so full of passion and agression...and that is so nice!

  • Can't wait til their new album comes out. Bring on the spring!!!

  • Is this with Geert on vocals?

  • Along with Strongarm, Shai Hulud is one of the most influential hardcore bands in the history of American music.

  • strongarm one of the most influential? I'd say Minor Threat, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth Of Today, Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front, Bad Brains, Dag Nasty, Unbroken, and Strife

  • My first album ever was the MT discography and I was a huge DN fan. Values Here is awesome. YOT? I grew up in Louisville and saw Shelter play shows for 15 kids.

But, I was making a stylistic point.

Strongarm and Shai Hulud stylistically changed *hardcore* music. They brought melody to hard music unlike any bands before.

Look at how many bands imitate them today.

Look at how introspective the lyrics are.

How many hardcore bands are beautiful and brutal like Strongarm and Shai Hulud?

  • BEST BAND EVER

  • amazing band

    i love them!

they were in GB in october and i missed them :(

  • Shai Hulud are the shit! Extremely important band! You can really hear their influence in bands like Misery Signals imo.

  • LOVE SHAI, AND I LOVE HARDCORE! XXX

  • 1...2...3...SET YOUR BODY ABLAZE!

  • Ahh soo good! Always will be one of my favorite bands and biggest influences!

  • that breakdown makes me wanna bury an axe in my face. WAR SHAI HULUD!

  • WTB Chad

  • this band aint bad...although there not that amazing...a bit too simple...but still decent

  • far from simple my friend... one of the most influential and underrated band in hardcore. also, one of the few bands who was still able to hold their shit down with so many lead singer changes... if you dont own any of there cds do yourself a favor and give them a few listens... i guarantee theyll make it to your favorites....

  • van a venir a chile wn!

  • fuckin intense!

    awesome snare!

  • why is necessary to discuss about other bands and compare shai hulud with them.. screw u dudes..

  • greatest hardcore band ever! along with refused, (old) eighteenvisions, strongarm, and (old) ptw

  • SET YOUR BODY ABLAZE!!!!!!!

    awsome vid

  • bvbv

  • hahaha opposed to non-gay music such as ccr and weezer? i think your the gay cunt.

  • not only are you a fucking retard for commenting on a band's video and calling it retarded... but you are a fag who saves "beginner long board" videos to your account. consider yourself lucky that you even heard of "the lud" .... keep riding your long board faggot...

  • I miss Geert. this video fuggin r00lz.

  • thats definately geert and not chad

  • awesome song this video is amazing

  • Ahhhhh man I miss the Hulud with Chad. Simpler times, love this friggin' band.

  • it was one of shai hulud's former singers chad gilbert who went to play guitar in new found glory, not geert

  • Dude, that is definitely Geert.

  • simpler times... i miss the days of hulud, shelter, snapcase, etc. all hardcore before the term got so cynical and sub-genrified. just good aggressive music with heart.

  • For being dutch he doesn't have a very noticeable accent
