  • mute this video and open " The last of the mohicans " and try to see this video with the music :) 1:15 and play the song

  • Ain't that Flatley?

  • i suddenly have the urge to drink guinness....

  • Too many people have copied this into their own stuff.

  • Riverdance... but you were close :)

The only reason I know?? I have this video... and I love it... and Micheal Flatly..

  • lol at the fact this is actually irish dancing.

  • as far as i'm concerned, if your shoes tap, its tap dancing.

  • @popupin And if you throw a hot dog in an expensive pan, it's gourmet cooking. You Poor guy. It isn't tap, but it is enjoyable if you like stiff legged, irish jig dancing.

  • Happy Feet, anyone?

  • this is irish step dancing. duhhhh

  • D: omg

  • This reminds me of band and playing the snare drum they should try playing the blue devils cadence that would be sick.

  • i believe this is called river dance? maybe im wrong.

  • Amazing!!! :D

  • isn't he from superstars of dance? as the host?

  • Aabso Blooding lutely Brilliant!

  • i havent seen this since i was about 5 or something. amazing. i listen too alot of modern drum n bass. i like drums and things, not rnb crap, but its good to hve a change and go back to listen to to good old stuff that got me into listening to the thing i like now

  • I read where Flatleyy uses titanium taps...and wears out a pair, every performance.

THAT is a lot of clicks.

  • This is gorgeous and I love it too! however this is a scene from Riverdance and what you're seeing is called Irish Step dancing, clearly very like tap, but actually different.

  • this is gorgeous and I love it too! But this is not tap dancing. It's called Irish Step dancing, clearly very like tap, but actually different.

  • Irish dance?

  • isnt that flatley?

  • amazing dancing.. im no dancer but i never tire of seeing this.. I do know that there is a difference between the shoes Micheal Flatley uses and the rest of the dancers.. Flatley uses steel taps, the others have traditional Irish hard shoes, which have a resin tap, which give a deeper sound than the bright sound of the steel taps.. as I say, not speaking from personal experience, just learned it from listening and asking my G/F who does Irish hardshoe dancing

  • fascinating, totally impressive.

  • Beautiful!! Tap is ah maz ing!! It's so much fun to do

  • Irish dancing there. NOT tap dancing. It's done using 'heavy' shoes, that are very similar to tap shoes.

  • This is Michael Flatley...that's why it's amazing

  • Michael Flatley scares the bejesus out of me.

  • @jujuboo98 Haha...from friends? I love that. :)

  • Ya dude this is Irish dance. Very together though!!!

  • amazing! i love it.

  • Comment removed

  • This is not tap, it's Irish hardshoe. It's awesome nonetheless.

  • Isn't this the group from Ireland - River Dance.?...They are amazing!

  • So I have done both tap and irish dancing and yes they are different forms of dancing, but they are essentially so similar that you can put the two in the same category. They both have taps on their shoes and you make noise with them and the technique is also the same as well.

  • Plus not to mention they have the same steps as well. shuffle...flap...paddling rolls....they basics are the same!

  • This might clear up some of the confusion about tap vs. irish step dancing: "Three types of shoes are worn in competitive step dancing: hard shoes and two kinds of soft shoe. The hard shoe is unlike the tap shoe, in that the tips and heels are made of fiberglass, instead of metal." Also, Irish step dance "is generally characterized by a stiff upper body and the quick and precise movements of the feet." <-- Tap dancers use more arm movements and incorporate aspects of ballet, jazz, etc, as well.

  • @jhsyodles yes thank you! i absolutely hate it when ppl see me doing hardshoe and ask if i do tap dance

  • This is a form of tap dancing but still tap dancing. Tap dancing was created in the 1600's by the Irish.Tap dancing has been called other things when done in a none typical form but it is tap dancing .

  • This isn't tap dancing, it's Irish dancing, still, absolutely amazing!

  • OMG!!! That`s amazing=0

  • why does everyone put irish dancing as tap dancing :S

  • 0__o wow.

I'm tap dancing in the school play, and I wish we had some of these guys in it!

  • WOW!! Awesome!

  • Does anybody else notice that he is wearing tap shoes (like normal metal taps, not irish hard shoes) a the beginning. Watch the beginning carefully. Maybe is it is just the lighting. Also his sounds sound, well, like metal taps.

  • wow pretty amazing!

  • Lol, guys. This was for Riverdance. Not tap dance. Still, amazing, isn't it?

  • nothing in comparison to fred astaire...

  • exactly.because fred astaire was a TAP dancer.

    Michael flatley dances IRISH

    you can't compare it :P

  • You can change the title of this video in the edit video option. You could change it to "Amazing Irish Dance Technique Show", because this is no Tap Dance.

  • @Eskndalo sounds like tapping to me, or clogging, or whatever, but it still tap.

  • @rafhenlow

HI !! if you know what to listen for - then you hear the difference.

The style // the Technique and the sounds are SO SO different !!

But as long as you enjoy !!! THAT´s the main thing !!

  • dude i would so trip over my feet tryna do that shit

  • this is Irish hard set, not tap dancing

  • omg i have this on tapee used to watch this part over and over again

  • oh my...

  • it looks irish

  • it is.

  • absolutly amazing...

  • Who gives a shit, just enjoy the dancing for crying out loud.

  • it appears to me as if he's doing tap up until about 1:00 , then its irish ... i think (i)

i can see why people are getting mad, it annoys me (i tap dance) when people say "nice irish dancing!" >:(

  • Michael Flatley was INDEED tap dancing...it didn't turn into Irish step until the group performed.

  • Too bad this is Not Tap dancing....

This is Irish Step dancing, big difference in the technique and what each art form represents.

  • Man you haven't seen anything till you've seen Colin Dunne do that dance. I don't like Micheal Flatley at all. He's a stuck up jerk.

  • the name is: Riverdance. An Irish group.

  • uhhh savion glover is wayyyy better! and i love him!!!

  • chilllll. it's a great dance, that's all that matters. not knowing the exact name of the genre doesn't make anyone stupid.

  • this is one of the best tap dancing vids ive evr seen

  • omg its irish dancing

  • RIVERDANCEE!!!! YOU DUMBBBB PEOPLEEES! ughh! i hate how stupid people are if they are not in dance. I KNOW AND IM NOT EVEN FRICKEN IRISH!!!

  • First of all, stupidity and ignorance are two completely different things, you qualify for both however you illiterate American little bitch.

  • They are dancing and they are tapping. Of course it's tap dancing. Stop being so anal

  • as many have said, this is NOT tap dancing.

  • Michael Flatley is one of planet Earths true cunts!!!!

  • this is an irish tap dance thats why u cant really hear the shoes tapping.

  • its riverdancing you dumb butts! so shut up! blahhh!

  • ho shite. thats a baby michael flatley!! so young

  • Why there was no sound when he run into stage?

  • if you step lightly enough, even when running, they can make minimal sound.

plus the microphones at the front of the stage to amplify the sound of the shoes probably aren't on so the is sound. you just can't hear it from a distance

  • he is doing irish step way different than tap. he is awesome i love him.

  • i'm not being mean or anything so i please don't take this personally.... i wish people knew the difference between tap dancing and irish dancing! they are 100% different! and if anyone is confused just check them out on google or something!

  • actually, it's called irish step, not tap dancing. the shoes are entirely different, though they look the same. it's also called irish step dance too.

  • Wow... Of course it's amazing, it's Irish dance... It doesn't sound anything like tap dance... And, yes, Michael Flattley is a dancing god.

  • Are you kidding me?!!!!! Michael Flatley is a stuck up jerk. I'm glad he left Riverdance cause it made way for Colin Dunne and you aint seen nothin till you've seen him do that dance or better yet trading taps.

  • Wow, fantastic, can't stop watching it :-)

But does anyone know what this music is, can it be downloaded anywhere online? It's so suspenseful!

  • i would love to tap jean butler...wow she is hot.

  • Clogging, is the appropriate term, isn't it?

  • HAHA. that is riverdancel. I know this for a fact since it is michael flatley himself dancing. and shoes and their sound. just sayin'. (and if you don't know who flatley are.. )

  • i dare you to a tap off! put up a clip of u tapin´ do the same.

  • tokiohotelroxyoursox dont even know what the f u r talking about. THATS NOT TAP! you need to google tap dance and then go jump off a really high building!

  • oh yes i do, probably way better than you 2!! and thats some clogging ore some shit like that, riverdansish that aint no hoofin' so f U

  • damn 2:57

    so good

  • This is definitely River dancing. The technique is different from tap dancing. The shoes even look different, I think. I'm pretty sure. Someone can look that up for me.

  • Nooooo!Thats not TAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • And who says white people don't have rythm?

  • thats not tap! thats fkkkn river dance type of shhhht. boooooring

  • uhhm do you tap dance??? didn't think so!

and no its not river dance

  • well i guess i dont have to tell you that its not tap dancing...lol

  • Although this isn't tap dancing, it IS incredible. It's outstanding how together river/irish dancers are.

  • Thats Riverdancing, Love this stuff very much, and you can tell the difference of tap dance, and river dance, Tapdancing you move your arms to the Rhythm, in Riverdancing, you mostly keep your arms on your waist.

  • This is not what distinguishes tap from Riverdance at all. That is only the surface of the differences between the two. They both are amazing and have some similarities, but arm movements is not the major defferential here. Being a tapper for 15 years and headed on the professional route, I'm just letting it be known.

  • this is really good, but it is definitely not tap dancing...

tap uses way more upper body (arms, torso, etc.)

  • NOT TAPPP EEEEp

  • That's IRISH Dancing not TAP

  • Great river dancing but yer that is quite insulting to call it tap! No taps on his feet. The sound is also too wooden. Yer...Amazing tho really amazing IRICH Dancing! I can't wait to see this show on Saturday! They are truly outstanding!

  • that's IRISH dance...

my friend is from ireland and she has to train this every day since she was 2 yrs old!

  • como le haran para aprenderse esos pasos??? que cosa tan maravillosa! haha

  • This is not Tap Dancing.

    This is Irish Dancing.

  • isn't that irish dancing

  • esas piernas hacen maravillas

  • Um NOT Tap dancing!!

  • OH MY GOD!!!! that was the most amazing thing i've seen!!

  • are they the River Dance people??

  • I have seen these guys LIVE. It is AWESOME!!

  • yea seriously not tap dance genius!

  • clearly gay as a three dollar bill.

  • Irish flamenco! Flatley's good, but Eleanor Powell is still the best.

  • michael flatley = legend

  • really impressive (pretty gay either)

  • hello??? this isn't tap, this is irish dance

  • wow

  • Wow! Amazing.........

  • amazingg

  • Astonishing !

  • irish american...in what way?unless one of your parents or grandparents were born in ireland..than your not irish american...your american!im actually irish..you dont hear me braggin....'i liked this before it was cool'...get a life!

  • its michael flatley and this is irish not tap

  • this isn't tap, it's irish dancing

  • i always think the woman in this production looks just like nicole kidman...

  • this isn't tap...

  • Really awesome dancing...not tap.

  • real old style nonsense...

  • Call it what you like but this is good stuff. I am Irish American and liked this stuff before it was cool. I am thrilled that the Riverdance troop made it mainstream. Anybody who likes Bluegrass, country, Jazz or Rock, meet your roots.

  • Damn!

  • this shit is so gay!

  • it's actually a very hard sport try to do what hes doing

  • Its Irish hard shoe dancing not tap not bleeding riverdancing (that is the name of the show). 1st century clothes, like you would'nt be American by any chance like.

  • okay first of all its riverdancing not tap.... second of all i hate riverdancing... i mean its like really amasing and i know it slike soo hard and alot of people put like amasingly hard working into it cause i do tap and thats hard too but... like ever riverdance looks the same... like seriously. it gets like really repetitive and boring and at least in tao we actually like change formations.... we use the top half of out body... and we dont wear like 1st century clothers... i mean seriously...

  • like totally...

  • now, that's what you call BEAUTIFUL footwork...clean, tight, and precise...and great solo by michael flatly. (hope i spelled his last name right)

  • sorry, michael flately.

  • THIS IS RIVERDANCE!!!!

  • Fantastico!!!!!

  • this is irish dancingg.. not tap.

  • ...........it's RIVERDANCE..........

  • shamone

  • fuck thats cool!

  • he wears high heals

  • It's official, Michael Flatley (aka the lord of the dance) is the Gene Kelly/fred Astaire of the Irish step.

  • Oh! Can you re-title this please? I just spent ages waiting for that to load/ buffer expecting a tap dance. I know the guy seems to be wearing tap shoes, but that's clog/ Irish dancing as everyone here seems to have noticed already. And isn't this from 'Lord of the Dance'? Michael Flatley? Kind of major Irish give away if you ask me!!

  • And if anyone knows of any good British/ European tap dances on YouTube let me know please, as American tap is quite different and it's hard to pick up good ideas. Thanks!!

  • That is Michael, He is amazing..Its wonderful...

  • That's definitely Michael, and I know, I was expecting a tap dance too...but apparently not. I used to love watching Riverdance. Definitely hard shoe Irish though.

  • yeah that's not tap..

  • yup, i think it called Irish dance

  • true, it's Irish Step dancing, with a hard shoe or jig shoe. However, American Tap is heavily influenced by Irish stepdancing so I don't think it's fair to say that this is not tapdancing at all.

  • yeah, a bit similar

  • I CAN DANCE LIKE THIS

  • After the main guy leaves the line you can tell that the cloggres move together so well. so smooth so on beat with everybody else. I don't know if i could have this kind of dedication

  • BTW, He's excellent at what he does, but it's not tap dancing.

  • This is not tap dancing. It is IRISH CLOGGING. Please know there is a difference. There is a scene in the show that shows a street "battle" between the Irish Cloggers and the tap dancing "Hoofers". If you don't know the difference, you should see the show.

  • I wonder what his girlfriend looks like?

  • At 2:55 ..... WOW amazing, 10 out of 10, very good performance.

  • Why does everyone put Riverdance up as tap dancing?

And I always hate him, he looks so arrogant, with his arms up and that look on his face. Like he's commanding/owns all those women. Anyway, this is not tap dancing.

  • 42000, he's "commanding" them because he wrote the show. It's his creation. He wants it to be perfect! Just like you would want it to be if it were your show. Read his bio. It's on line.

  • 42000. His name is Michael Flately. I forgot to include it in my previous answer.

  • Yeah, I do know who he is. And I get his deal, I just get a creepy vibe off him, always have. But don't get me wrong, his dancing is quite incredible. I'd never dream of insulting that, after all, I've been trying to do Irish dancing and I know how damn hard it is. He just bugs me...

  • P.S. Irish Step Dancing is the cousin to "Clogging"Southern u.s. stlye

  • Yes , That's from Riverdance. I have the video. That cutie would be the worldwide Faomue Michael Flatley.

  • It doesn't matter to me what it is. I think it is awesome to watch. I sure wish I could do that. If I could, I would wear a different style of britches though.

    5 stars!

  • wow

  • Yes, it is Irish dance, but with taps! So who cares what the title is. It's grand!!

  • most of the footwork was just lifting the heel and toe really fast.

  • Yes but can YOU do it? ;)

  • i never said i could do it. im not some irish clogger.

  • have u ever noticed that pratically every tap dancing video on youtube almost exactly the same?

  • Not tap!!! change the tags and tittle.

  • I tap, this is def not tap...i thought it was flamenco..but then i knew it was irish step dancing..

  • yeah this si riverdance completely different from tap dancing and that's Michael Flatley "the fantastic lord of the irish dance!" he's outstandingly amazing!!!

  • Um, isn't this from River Dance? Completely NOT tap dancing whatsoever. Might want to correct the title on your video mate.

  • this is amazing.. i have no idea how they do all this in sync too. it looks very tiring aswell. the closest ive come to this is DDR. this is ddr on steroids haha

  • this isnt tap this is clogging i hate it when people mix them up

  • Tap dancing requires a stylistic motion of the entire body. Clog dancing on the other hand calls for a rigid upper body with movement mainly ocurring from the waist down. It's a VERY different style.
