  • Reading this comment is funnier than watching Leno.

  • Fallon>Conan>the others

  • Conan's impression of Leno is way more hilarious

  • Conan O'Brien does it best.

  • Maybe if Letterman was better at his Leno impression he'd be number one.

  • I don't care who is who as long as can make me laugh. i will enjoy it.

  • Letterman is not a good stand-up comic, his monologues rarely make me laugh, but he's just so.... nice. I don't know I just think he's pleasant. Leno is much funnier but has an aura of self-absorbtion to him. Conan is just crazy and also the funniest, but not as pleasant as Letterman. Comic: Conan > Leno > Letterman, Best TV-host: Letterman > Conan > Leno.

  • @Protoman85 letterman nice? pleasant? are you serious? i love letterman but he isn't a nice guy(in his show). he's the biggest asshole talkshow host there is. that's what makes him so successful and funny. being a dick to guests.

  • terrible. worst impersonation.

  • @lstogner You're missing the point.

  • That was a terrible impersonation.

  • @BLUDDYknucklez You're missing the point.

  • have you seen this? have you heard about this?

  • Bravo dave stick it up his ass.

  • There goes my impression of Letterman impersonatng someone well :P

  • Wow, that is a BAD impression of Leno...

  • Fuck Leno.... he is a cunt.

  • @lynchian yeah...you on the other hand.....all penis?

  • fuck jay leno

  • holy shit this guy has aged.

  • why do they not like each other? is it just because they are on different channels and competing for the same audience nightly? or what

  • @Livinglifehigh

This goes back to Jay getting the Tonight Show instead of Letterman, who many saw as Johnny Carson's rightful successor (including Carson himself). Many people think Jay used underhanded tactics (or at least that his agent did) to get him the job. Letterman, who was hosting Late Night on NBC at the time, subsequently defected to CBS to create and host The Late Show, and Conan O'Brien (then a relatively unknown comedy writer) replaced Letterman as host of Late Night.

  • Wait what aren't they getting paid for?

  • @BAYCITY99 Get help.

  • I like that Letterman actually remembers the name of one of Leno's abysmal segments. He must have been watching, in agony, like the rest of us.

  • what's it been..45 years and Letterman still hasn't gotten over it!

  • "It was exactly like that"

  • Leno is awful.

  • jimmy kimmels the best

  • Watching dental surgery is funnier than watching Leno.

  • @BigDickMcGirk I'd rather have dental surgery than watch Leno.

  • dave hates leno because he got johnny's old gig

  • If only Dave could imitate his ratings.

  • @steveconn Dave is doing quite alright slightly trailing Leno.

  • not at all

  • Ehh must be an american thing

  • @lookitsanoliphant yet you laughed at this clip..... fucking idiot

  • go letterman

  • Jay leno's comedic timing is over the top, conan's comedy is more or less like russian circus joker. Conan still needs to work on how to present jokes, being a joker and all that hyper activity is not comedy, its circus. Case closed.

  • @PrZemek44 You follow in your patriarch's practice very well...Insulting the intelligence of everyone but themself. Who is funnier is a matter of opinion...However originality isn't. Leno steals jokes...From Letterman and others (Jay makes Carlos Mencia seem innovative). Leno recycles his own jokes, lame ones at that...The President was funnier then Leno at the correspondents dinner. And Leno's not the "nice guy" that many perceive him to be. Keep insulting our intelligence...Just like Jay.

  • @mjbab73 Agree to 1) Leno totally sucked at this presidential dinner, still it pales compared to Letterman's performance at the Oscar's 2) sometimes (rarely) recycles his jokes, but it's Letterman who steals, plus I take an occasional recycling (esp of some good ones) over watching replays of Dave's shows (how often does he take a week off?!). And what's so original about your 'patriarch'? That he provokes his guests? Why all these 'celebrities famous meltdowns' never happen anywhere else?

  • @PrZemek44 I didn't watch Letterman's performance at the Oscars, but I cannot believe that it was worse than Leno's abysmal dinner performance. My guess is that Letterman was good, but out of place, and Leno was just bad.

  • @leroyinc If you didn't see what's the point of spoiling the air?

  • @PrZemek44 Was Letterman nervous? Was his material inherently unfunny? No. I didn't see the performance, but I've heard enough about it and I'm familiar enough with Letterman to know that his performance was probably fine, but it did not work for the occasion. Am I wrong?

  • @leroyinc You pretty much hit the nail on the head there. Letterman's performance at the Oscars was really only ridiculed by Letterman himself...The AMPAS actually asked Dave to host again the following year, but he was way too hard on himself with his self-proclaimed bomb of a performance. Leno on the other-hand probably thought he'd performed well at the Correspondents dinner.

  • @PrZemek44 is it opposite day?

  • Dave is so bitter. Doubt he'll ever get over it.

  • jay has no class and hes not funny at all! dave rules!!!

  • Letterman USED to have (back in his NBC days) the funniest, most inventive show in late night.

I loved him (and Leno, back in his old stand-up days) then, but something has drastically changed since then.

I don't know if Dave (and/or his writer's)have just gotten too old and out of touch, but that nostalgic feeling where it once seemed like EVERY night was "anything can happen" night, is long gone.

I miss the old, TRULY funny Dave (and Jay).

Now it's all just so stale....... :(

  • Letterman used to work very hard in the Late Night years to get that "anything can happen" thing. I think it's just that he decided to work a little less as he got older.

  • And with his name on the show, he's entitled...........the only problem, of course, is that it shows, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT of the week.......... :(

  • Watching Letterman do Leno is more entertaining than watching Leno.

  • @BruiserDrop Watching Letterman do my mum, would be more entertaining than watching Leno.

  • @shanustheanus watching you do your mom is less entertaining than watching your dad do your brother

  • @TEST4YOURCDL Well, yes of course. But that's only because my dad weighs about the same as a killer whale. Watching a bloke like that at it, would be far funnier than seeing me fuck that wrinkly old cunt...

    Good night ;]

  • @shanustheanus LOL *****

  • @BruiserDrop No shit. LOL

  • @BruiserDrop Both Letterman and Kimmel did a better Leno than Leno himself could ever do, lmao

  • The "Headlines" bit goes back to the 1950's, when humor paperbacks were published with actual oddly worded headlines and stories ("Press Boners", Kermit Shafer's Radio Bloopers"). National Lampoon ran a column of these in their issues in the 1970's. Leno never claimed to have invented the concept, he's just carrying on the "truth is funnier than faction" comedy tradition that stated long before he or Letterman had TV shows.

  • Oh, google? Sometimes I use my brain. The fact is that 'the wave turned' in 95. But also Letterman had Hugh Grant on his show so... looks like was a bit less innovative? And the fact is that Letterman hosted the Oscars in 95. Draw your OWN conclussion... The general opinion was that he was the worst host ever.

    Period.

  • We'll see this time around if people believe Leno is still "funny"...Comment back to me in a few months when your tail's between your legs.

  • Letterman beat Leno until Jay had Hugh Grant on as a guest to explain his cheating on Elizabeth Hurly...It's a fact. Like I said, we'll see. ps, who's "Holly Carson?

  • Johny Carson?

So what, ONE interview had changed millions of people mind for 14 years?

Like I said, we already see.

  • Apparently so...google it. And how do we already see?...Leno is still on at 10. Calling people who like Letterman retards...Real nice. Leno stole Headlines from Dave...It was on Late Night in the 80''s called "Small Town News". Leno took "Jaywalking" from Dave...It was on Late Night as a man on the street bit, and unlike Leno, Dave gave credit for it to Steve Allen. Leno is now doing "Don't Try This At Home"...Which is essentially "Stupid Human Tricks". Jay's quite innovative, aye?

  • that was a pretty good impersonation

  • your name is farting.

  • Not forever "farting". Letterman was #1 at 12:30 from 82-93...Then he moved to CBS and beat Leno's ass for three years...First time NBC wasn't 1st in late night in 50 yrs. He is far from his prime, however he was the biggest innovator in all of late night...Allen, Parr, Carson, O'Brien, Snyder, and your beloved Leno all said so. Dave IS funny. Conan IS funny. Craig and Jimmy K. are funny. Jimmy F. is working on it. WTF is Leno? We'll see in the ratings this time around...Karma's a bitch!

  • Ahh couldnt have said it better myself!!!!

  • Thanks mang!

  • If this guy is really called "Knoedelseder" than he has a name of German origin that means "Knödelsieder" or - someone who boils dumplings... (Knödel: dumpling, sieden: to boil)

  • I concur.
