  • This is Taken from My Computer Disc Called Sesame Street Numbers (1998) The one I Played When I was little Back in the 1990's

  • This is life when your high

  • When I was young i actually tried to draw this alien

  • One of my favourites !!!! <3

  • THIS WAS MY FAVORITE ONE :D

  • Just to reiterate, the vocal is definitely Turk Murphy. The other band members are Leon Oakley, trumpet; Phil Howe, clarinet; Pete Clute, Piano ; Carl Lunsford, banjo; Jim Maihack, tuba.(and also vocals on opening chorus)

  • i wonder what her mother and father looks like

  • someone was on LSD

  • The songs were so catchy back then

  • @SamosIMP

Yes they truely were! I really miss the way that "Sesame Street" once was!

  • Cutie <3

  • MANN! I remember this, this was back when sesame street was worth watching

    It's Crappy Now! >=|

  • @KaylaMz118

It seems that most Generation Xers hate the way that "Sesame Street" turned out. I tend to agree that it is pretty bad!

  • Thought for sure this was written by Shel Silverstein. Reminds me a lot of the opening of "Cover of Rolling Stone" (sung by Dr. Hook) and "Helping" from the Free to Be soundtrack (sung by Tom Smothers).

  • One of my fondest childhood TV memories! I teach it to every kid I know.

  • This video can be seen on Sesame Street Numbers for the PC

  • Me and my mom would sing this song ALL THE TIME. x3 Ah, the good old days when things were simple.

  • I remember watching this as a kid. brings back good memories :)

  • I hate to think what her parents look like...

  • Actually this was sung by Turk Murphy

  • I had forgotten this one. <3

  • OMG... what memories this brings back. I used to babysit a "special needs" kid, and because of the shows like Sesame Street and The Electric Company, she was able to gain 2 reading levels over one summer. She especially loved the number songs. Thank you for uploading this!

  • @Meatpies62 Amen to what you said. My mom taught me to read, but Sesame Street really helped. :)

  • 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

  • i havent seen this since i was a kid thank you for uploading this (THE-SPACE-MAN)

  • @TinyDancer500

the voice is the same as the Alligator king, not the ladybug picnic..

  • Great memory with a tune and lyrics that stay with you for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 years...and then some!

  • Number 9 Number 9 The Beatles o_O

  • Bud Luckey kicks butt!

  • at least she has a mouth, not like the terrible scary typewriter that makes noises, but from where?

  • Love this. Pure genius. Funny and simple and yet with that lovly sesame street touch of inclusive ness. one of my favourite tv moments of all time no less!!!

  • My favorite part is: she doesn't go shopping 'cuz she doesn't like hopping. That was so fun to sing! :)

  • wanna date?

  • This one is for my Angel .. i love you

  • Awesome.

  • I found that EXTREMELY BIZARRE even as a little girl!

  • as a boy in elementary school i use to think that was what people from mars really looked like. lol

  • omg i totally remember this! i couldn't have been more than 3 years old the first time I saw this!

  • ahhh memories they dont make these anymore

  • Wow, I rememba dis. Thought she waz weird wen i waz little. but damn, now she's sexy. hahaha

  • She doesn't go shopping cause she doesn't like hopping, so usually she just stays put!

  • @limpmatie Best line of the song!

  • @limpmatie Thanks, I didn't understand that last line. The word "hopping" was unclear to me.

  • Favourite ever! I used to chase my mom around the house singing this one.

  • This song sounds like Turkey in the Straw.

  • now dis is the good old school sesseme strretxD

  • Gyauh. I remember this one from when I was a kid. Weirds me out more this time than back then.

  • i know what u mean. i'm surprised they put this on a kid's show. kids can get scared of anything strange enough.

  • i didnt really like this one it scared me lol but i remeber it :)

  • The voice is the late Turk Murphy (1915-1987). He and his traditional jazz band recorded this and several Sesame Street tunes. According to Jim Goggin's book "Just for the Record" -- an interview and discography of Turk Murphy, Turk recorded this track in 1971 in San Francisco.

  • =)) (LATWL) That's a good and true perspective. However,

:,( It is sad to see it that way. It struck me funny at first. There are both sides to a story, and you proved it.

  • I used to like drawing the "Nine Lady" when I was little. I love the line "Some people say she looks like her dad; some say she looks like her mother."

  • LOVE IT ! SS doesn't get any better than that .

  • An interesting apparition...........not sure about the bed side lamp style single leg though.........

  • @stegaflaps

You know, the Martian lady would be a fun design for a lamp.

  • hehe..

  • 9 eye

  • love it

  • hey!!! i got this on a sesame street tape i had since i was little...i have 3 of em

  • Wow. I haven't seen this since I was knee-high to a muskrat.

Few ever surpassed Sesame Street in being weird, funny and cute enough to appeal to adults and kids equally.

  • so the conspiracy is true then. martians do exists LOL

  • didn't this guy sing for schoolhouse rock?

  • The man siniging/composing here is Bud Luckey; the man you might be thinking of for Schoolhouse Rock is trumpeteer/vocalist Jack Sheldon (singer of Conjunction Juction, etc.)

Bob Dorough was the musical director/composer for SHR.

Not to diminish Bud Luckey in any way, though ;-)

  • Now that you mention it . . . Mr. Sheldon's voice sounds a bit more gravelly than Mr. Luckey's. But I could see (and hear) why some would've been confused.

  • Then there's Leon Redbone, who did the "Mr. Belvedere" theme.

Those guys would make one heckuva trio if they ever decided to perform together.

  • OMG school house rock!!! Loved that so much, used to be my favorite when i was little XD.

  • You are probably thinking of his voice from the Pixar Short story "Boundin"

When I first saw that video, I knew I heard his voice before, it wasn't until I watched the Pixar Story I realized that he wrote some of the best Sesame Street shorts

  • i remember this song i even got this on video

  • i remember this!!!!!!!

    ooo nostalgia!

  • Shouldn't she have 9 mouths, too?

  • i used to draw this thing all the time when i was little...this song used to be my favorite

  • aw, i loved this.

  • I love these old Sesame Street cartoon things... Do they still do them on the newer episodes, or are they a thing of the past?

  • They still show what they consider classics, such as "The Ladybugs' Picnic" and "The Alligator King", this one not so much, but I have seen it on the show.

  • i used to draw this martian counting til 9! hehehehehe

  • wow so backed up!

  • kinda werid

  • ok how deos she eat or live then

  • How do things like Cthulhu or Shub-Niggurath live?

  • oh, the trauma this cartoon gave me as a kid....

  • backed up

  • i like the way her snore sounded like a harmonica.

  • my 1year old love this one

  • this used to give me nightmares when i was little!

  • i did me to but mosly big bird ang elmo.so i only mostly wached the animations

  • YAY!

  • I used to just adore this one.

  • cool!

  • I used to love this when I was little.

  • *shriek*

I had this stuck in my head all day at random and had to come find it! ^_^ I so used to watch this when I was five.

  • I was so excited when I saw these videos where on here! I couldn't get the songs out of my head !! My kids love them!

  • omg love this song! do you have the one they have with the cherry that goes through the maze and ends up on a sundae?

  • PROOF to my son that I did NOT make this up!!!

  • Nine little toes on her foot! LOL

    I remember this.

  • I remember watching this with my daughter, and now I get to share it with the grandkids. Cracks me up every time I hear it.

  • Over the years, I was falsely accused of making this song up. I am so grateful for Youtube for exonerating me. There is no way I could have explained it otherwise!

  • does this remind anyone of

    School House Rock

the voice and animation.....hmmm...sounds and looks like the same

  • anteaterpride..

    school house rock

    used to be part of

    sesame street

so yeaa. i can see how you think theyre alike

  • This used to freak me out! The thought of having one leg and all these toes on one foot! Uy! Oh, and all these extra arms! Pretty creepy!

  • Did anyone know spiders have 8 eyes? So 9 eyes is reasonable.

  • scared me then still creepy now!

  • Being older now, that's scary! :o

  • shes well fit wots er number

  • One of the best - unforgettable!

  • I've been looking for these to show my kids, so they understand the silly songs I sing every once in a while! Finally there is a place where I can show them, I'm not making them up! Its so cool to have this stuff I grew up on 30+ years ago.

  • a chernobyl miss piggy ??????

  • this chick scared me but i loved her!

  • I REMEMBER THIS ONE AND I LIKE IT.

  • Wow! I remember all the words!

  • wow...I knew almost the entire song once I saw the video and heard the music...lol

  • I am in love with YOU TUBE, simply because of shorts like this that dig through my memory and bring all kinds of feelings up out of no where!

  • I agree with you totally!

  • cool!

  • When I saw the Aligator King cartoon, I was instantly reminded of this one. Thanks for posting it.

  • love it!

  • yaay

  • I never thought I'd see this again. I haven't seen it since I was a child and it's soo cool to relive some happy childhood moments.

  • Cute!

I wonder if anyone remembers the "going on an alpha quest" segment from sesame street. I would love to see that as well!

  • LOLZ i want the MARY HAD A BICYCLE!!

  • I remember this too - weird cartoon (especially with the eyes) but amusing. This sounds like a Bud Luckey song; he also did the "Ladybugs Picnic" and "Alligator King" songs.

  • You can get "Alligator King" and "Penny Candy Man" on a CD called "Wild Man Blues" by the Turk Murphy Jazz Band. Murphy and Lucky are credited with writing those two, at least.

  • I thought Joe Raposo wrote those. I could be wrong...

  • This is one where I remembered the cartoon more than the song. :)

  • awesome, i remember this from when i was little.
