Thanks for your comments Britishwatcher; I think London 2012. Watching Heather Small singing in London reminded me of how good the Manchester Commonwealth Games were and the athletics stadium was full yesterday for the Manchester City match
good video, i agree with your comments on the games and the competition itself. As for Londons 8 minute moment of fame in the closing ceremony i didnt like it at all. It wasnt a complete disaster which i feared it might be but i certainly wouldnt call it great.
I understand as it was in another country restricted the options alot and the fact they didnt get to have run throughs of the thing in the stadium itself makes it harder but it hardly sold London well to a global audience.
I watched the opening ceremonies while I was over in the UK. I kept thinking that they could have fed a lot of folks with the money they spent.... I'm so cynical, LOL!!! You would be proud that there was an article in the Washington Post entitled, 'It's Haul Great Britain.'
I saw some really corny newspaper headlines here such as "the great haul of China" and even "the great crawl of China" when Rebecca Adlington wone the 400m freestyle. About the money, we'll never see so much spent again but I think it was less obscene than the difference between military spending and foreign aid (I'm sure you agree)
I love the Olympics; I love it that in distance running (5k and over) the superpowers are two countries (Ethiopia and Kenya) that we normally associate with poverty and famine. I think that's great.
bored!!!!!!
