I'm on my second year of trying to grow crops. Birds, deer and rabbits decimated my crops last year. Its kind of a lesson learned because now I know meat is available and I need a fence. Also if I start raising chickens I'm afraid people might come steal them. How did our ancestors survive off the land????? My hat is off to them.
@silvercelli Indeed they do... so is there any reason our's won't? Are we smarter? Harder working? Lucky? Blessed by a higher power? The byzantines, mings, romans, incas, aztecs surely thought they would never fall. But they did. Nature has taught us that the key to survival is the ability to ADAPT. Is anyone in our nation thinking about radical adaptation to survive and prosper in the new world order?
As an option to outright purchasing land or a country home, search the real estate listings, go view a bunch of property and pick out the best as squatter properties you can occupy in the event of collapse. Choices would include properties with out of state owners who will not likely be there, with seclusion, live water or water well and other amenities conducive to survival. It cost a lot of money to buy a decent property with live water or well. This is an option for those without cash.
@stevesmitty79 As far as logistics, storage units out in the country don't have gates for 24 hour access. A 10x20 runs about $50. Steel barrels about $10. A 40lb pack of flour at ALDIs runs about $10. This is while the current supply is on the shelf. Food is still inexpensive so go and buy a lot RIGHT NOW. It'll jump just like fresh vegetables did during the recent freeze and cost twice maybe three times real soon. Get stocked up at home and if you can't, get a storage unit with some barrels.
Solar and wind makes sense at the house or small community level. Propane powered outhouse (ala toilet) is great for living on land that has a well for water and no sewage. Propane toilet incinerate the waste for 20 minutes and release the ashes onto the land. Used on yachts and large private boats because many harbors do not allow dumping of sewage into harbor waters. No permit needed for installation in the home or mobile home. You will need propane tank to power system.
I believe anyone moving from the city now will be in big trouble! Where do you think all the city people will run. Youtube is a magnet for where to go and what you land owning youtubers will do. So guess where most people are buggin out to, yes you guess it, your property! Let me say this about DC, it's a Masonic masterpiece and it will not be destroyed. I picked up on something when white americans where selling their suburb properties to move back in the city. And DC prices are crazy high! ;)
@silvercelli Our nations problems have to be solved on the local level. People need to jump start their own local economies by buying local products. We have to have local energy independence or we will never have national energy independence. We have to solve local unemployment first. Counties and states need to take the lead, because our Federal gov is an absolute failure. The Reps and Dems in DC are little more than crime families milking America for all its worth. My solution is start local
@silvercelli I am not defeatist, I am a realist. Regular investors are buying Swiss francs and Japanese Yen. I spent an entire year of my life travelling my district to offer a solution to the policies passed by our current politicians. The true solution is balance our trade, but our politicians refuse to write policy that will do it.. The solution has been for Americans is to start buying products produced in America. I have been saying this since I was a teenager. Buy local, Buy American!
It's too late to start preparing the way you are describing. Me and my brother have been preparing pretty seriously for the last 3 years and we are still not completely self sufficient by any means. The problem we have found is that becoming self sufficient in itself is a full time job. It will take years and years to do if you already have a full time job at a company or somewhere else. Me and my brother both have full time jobs and again we are going on year 3.
@WTFisGo1ng0n if I'm smart I'll eat something better than babyfood. BUT I should buy it. Here's the deal: barter. Just imagine what a family in desperation will do for you when you ask for a favor in exchange when they have a baby, no food, and you have baby food.
a thought for consideration: sometimes some bills like utilities, don't know about taxes, but maintenance costs & such for a property / location can be a tax write-off if it's for a business. Even a moderate do-it-yourself business then can drive down your cost of maintaining a property other than the one you live at now, so you have no chance of your escape property being taken based on tax liens or otherwise not affordable to hold onto at this time.
Thank you for the Ethanol angle. I have been stocking 5 gallon cans of gas this week (preppin). If ethanol is a valid alternative, and cheaper, I think I'll find a local dealer.
@BillKville if you're going to stock up on ethanol consider methanol & fuel cells. You can produce electricity without batteries this way, and fill up only what you need at a time, store the rest. Ethanol & methanol storage can't be that different. I don't know if fuel cells can handle ethanol, chemically, but if so, that's great news.
@2011endgame I would prefer people exercise their right to vote. Vote out the criminals and vote in some third party (2nd party really) candidates who would follow the Constitution. I personally ran as a Constitution Party candidate in 2010. We don't have a two party system. We have one party with two names.
Thank you for these videos. I've been prepping for a couple months. I will have to travel to NC from TX once the SHTF so i'm limited to what I can get in and on my car. 700+ oz of silver so far! Home depot shop list for today: aluminum foil, twine, duct tape, and water pump of some kind. I have water filtration and purification already. Things come to mind everyday....
@ytrogergt Britain currently holds $511.8 billion in US debt. Give the Sterling time. :) In any case when the US gave up the gold standard completely in the early seventies, every currency in the world became fiat. Basically every currency is worthless. If and when the dollar collapses it will drag the world with it because they hold so much of our debt. The ones who get out of the dollar first will likely be the best off.
@ytrogergt What do you mean, it has not collapsed? It got its name because it was a TROY POUND of sterling silver. It now takes 240 of your collapsed-pounds to buy an original Pound Sterling.
Here in singapore we don't ownlands lands cost millions here only the rich can afford it . we basically live in apartment houses basically the whole country is a city. are we doomed?
@Rayner1234 I don't think so. If Asia is to be the new financial capitol of the world you look to be in pretty good shape. Jim Rogers thought enough of Singapore to move his family there. When I talked about the city I was reffering to American cities. When services and government welfare checks stop, there will be a lot of angry people living on top of one another and things will get crazy in my opinion.
@Rayner1234 I was living in Singapore for over two years. I just left it in late 2009 and move back to my country. I felt a lot of people in that country will have very serious trouble being too dependent on imported food.
@Rayner1234 No. In Russia, people raised chickens on apartment balconies, and had gardens 50 miles from where they lived. There are sprouts you can raise indoors. Look on Ebay. Get Berkley Water Filter..maybe about $150. Use your head. Can you get to another place? Dont be afraid. Use your head. You are way ahead of the other people.
@silvercelli The dollar right now is the world reserve currency. It won't be for long. China actually suggested that we start issuing Government bonds in Yuan! There is going to be a race for the exits in the dollar soon. You don't have to believe it, but that won't change it. American politicians would have to make some pretty drastic changes in their policy if they want to turn this around. I don't believe for a minute that they have the political will to do what it will take. My opinion.
@JOHNNYH8STHENWO Agreed! My wife has been canning bulk food with her friends. They pitch in to buy a bunch of food in bulk and then can it and split it up evenly.
I'm sure you've seen the LDS videos. I made a trip and got a lot of food for not much money. I was writing the exp. date and contents on the lids for easy viewing. Seeing 2041 as the date was awesome. I have food that i could eat when i retire! Also, there are a bunch of good off the grid "power/heat" ideas on youtube in all price ranges. I still want to build like 5 solar heaters and some means of solar hot water.
