@emax1mil A TESOL will definitely help. I found the job through one of the many recruiters on sites such as TEFL.com, eslbase.com etc. glad you liked the video and good luck ;)
Thanks for uploading your experiences. I taught at English at a Korean camp at Hankuk University of Foreign STudies in January with 11 other Australian teachers.. I had 10 korean children aged 11 and 12. THey were alot of fun! Had the best time! Will definitely do it again next yr, despite the snow and - degree temps! :)
WOW!! I was watching your video, and got kinda bored at the middle, but I stayed, and saw the school I teach at now. I HAVE YOUR OLD JOB NOW! How cool! Small world.
I'm really interested in teaching English in South Korea via a TEFL course. My main concerns though are socialising. Are there other tefl teachers around? I suppose i'm imagining it might be somewhat lonely being the only one around speaking English.
I'm currently studying for an English degree. I stayed in Korea for awhile, and absolutely loved it. I'll go back to teach when I get my degree. Do you know of any good academies for adults? I'm not really a "kid person." Although, I don't mind teaching high school age students (or maybe older middle school age), but prefer to teach adults.
thanks a lot im going in september and i really cant wait, this sort of video is great because it gives a pretty good idea of what to expect obviously still going to be a complete culture shock. to be honest im not planning on comeing back to the uk for a good few years atleast!!
I say go for it mate! Spring has just arrived and the weather is reminding me how much I love this place. I found my position through a private recruiter, but I suggest checking out the Korean government ESL program 'EPIK', you can choose where you want to work, and the wages are on average slightly higher. Plus you get go on an orientation programme where you get to meet loads of other people going to the same city. I'm not sure but I think they also offer free Korean lessons too :)
I've been looking at quite a few videos of people's teaching esl experiences and I wanna say thanks for sharing this. It reminds me a bit about my study abroad in China and gives me more hope that I'll one day travel to Korea. Enjoy your adventure!
Hey man thanks for writing back. I'll be at the Kwangju Foreign School. House music teacher. Let's stay in touch

I wouldn't worry about it. There are literally hundreds of foreign teachers in Gwangju.

It's fairly big. I think the population is about 1.5 million. Its the 6th largest in South Korea.
