you: "I might be wrong but TV sets have "always" been (since the 50's or something) 60HZ (or 50HZ if you're somewhere else) this means 60 or 50 fps. So..."
yes, you were wrong and what i explained to you it's that 60hz (ntsc) -> 60 fields interlaced -> 30fps... if you read your last comment notice that it says the opposite than your first comment, i don't understand you...
hi! thanks for the videos. I want to get this cam but what do you thing of the autofocus? i've heard many bad reviews about it being too slow... is it a big problem for you, for the video shooting?
@HoopsTGG I know - but something else too - do you know where the interlacing "combing" comes from? I've seen it on many videos on Youtube - so it seems they are not 30p but 30i or something.
@Chaanee Deinterlacing? If I understand it correctly, if you deinterlace 30i it will "flow" like 15p. If you deinterlace 60i it will flow like 30p. However, all it really is doing is combining two partial fields into one complete frame, then displaying it for the length of two fields/one frame. (fyi a field is half a frame, not all cameras always use fields sometimes they use the whole frame in the first place)
@HoopsTGG I might be wrong but TV sets have "always" been (since the 50's or something) 60HZ (or 50HZ if you're somewhere else) this means 60 or 50 fps. So I guess deinterlacing means taking one field and making it into a frame. For example 60i -> fake 60p. This is how I was told deinterlacing on TV sets work. However what Youtube uses is something totally different, and I'd love to know what it is.
@Chaanee 60hz (ntsc) -> 30fps and 50hz (pal) -> 25fps for tv. is a correlation between the electric signal and the analog broadcast television to be syncronized and can be shown in all tvs. in a pc you don't have a analog signal and the image is processed so you don't have restrictions.
@nokerti You just messed up what I explained. There is no "fps" (frames per second) in the old tv standards, there are FIELDS per second. 50 or 60 fields per second.
@Chaanee one frame separated in two fields (interlaced), that make 25 or 30 fps / 50 or 60 fields... it's the same... but technically is better to talk about frames because a field is not a complete image
@nokerti No it's not the same. 60 fields=60i. 30frames=30p. Technically it's better that you say fields when you mean fields, and frames when you mean frames. And when you write fps which is the typical abbreviation used for computer screens, then this usually means frames. Don't mess it up anymore now.

Check out the Sanyo Xacti filming professional sports action. Great video including slo-motion, stills and sequence mode operation at the EpicWaySports channel. Click on the name above.
good video, do you enjoy the camera. I am going to disneyland in dec with my family and was looking at the canon HF20 or this. The picture is really good and I hear very good about this camera. Any advice would be appreciated.
You can get this at hundreds of pounds less than other retailers. A good idea is the google search site for your country - go there, and select Shopping in blue in the list at the top of the page.
Type Sanyo Xactio HD2000 and you should get a choice of retailers with prices on that page itself.
for some reason this doesnt look as good as other vids i seen using the xacti hd cams. maybe cause the native res was 1080p and youtube down scales it,not sure. maybe try to record in 720p and see how youtube does that.
and the 1010 shoots in 1080i this one shoots in 1080p
I = interlaced
So if you have a 10 x 10 monitor(which you dont....) then you would see the pixel rows 1 3 5 7 and 9 then in the next fram you would see 2 4 6 8 and 10
P= Progressive
Which basically means you see every single pixel in every single frame which is why its got better color and not as fuzzy
because oil and water don't mix!

This shows well why 30fps is not enough to show movement smoothly

@Chaanee Sadly Youtube doesn't even support anything higher anyway.

Does it have any night vision? Im now between this and the VDC-FH1.
markiemark8585 2 years ago
Almost no camcorders seem to have "night vision" anymore*, after that silly scandal. The "low light" view seems okay from other videos, though?
*do you know one that does, btw?

why is the video so jumpy ?
soullesstube 2 years ago
because the camera shoots in 1080p and youtube only goes up to 720p so it has problems downsizing because
"raw off the camera and not encoded or edited"
CPlusPlusFreak 2 years ago
if its jumpy on HD mode your pc cant handle hd
dwarfer777 2 years ago
Normally this happens when the camcorder uses too fast shutter speed. For 60p video it should use 1/120s or slower shutter not to show jumpines
