  • Wow!!!!! Every time I watch this, I'm absolutely amazed! I'm teaching myself as well. I love how you can make parts of the song that would traditionally be done in ghillies sound good in the gentlest hard shoe manner :) Keep up the good work!

  • keep up yput heels and keep your feet turned out remmember to keep in time to the music

  • just remeber to keep up the heels :)

  • Practice nonstop! If you really want to get into irish dance, persevere, and you'll succeed!

  • Awesome!

  • I wanna teach myself sooo bad you have def. inspired me !!!!!!!

  • Amazing! I see you´re great irish dancer.

  • What is the name of the song you used for this? I really like it :) Also AWESOME routine! I've been dancing for four years and I'm nowhere near as good as that XD

  • i hope you've joined a school if you havent i would use the CLRG website it gives a list of every teacher that has passed their TCRG. You've got amazing trebles not one was muffled XD

  • *whistles* and self taught too...bravo! That was really amazing! :)

  • i can't believe you self taught yourself!!!! You are AMAZING!!! way to go not most people can self teach themselves!!! Great job!

  • Hooray for the Irish spirit! :D

  • OMG you need to be kidding me!! REALLY and im all irish and i dont no how to do that!! that is just sad

  • Wow, I can't even teach myself "downward dog" and you taught yourself THAT! Your dance is truly beautiful and amazing!

Hope you'll continue to dance and to post!

  • Wow! Amazing for self taught!

(and BTW 14 people failed trying to copy you!) :D

  • Very nice!

That's really impressive progress to say you're self taught, especially since you're already able to come up with your own routines!

I've been doing it for over 15 years now and I'm still terrible at making my own stuff up, heh.

  • Wow. And here I thought it was something traditional! Great job!

  • oh my gosh!!!!!!!!! there are no words to describe how good you are. I'm only six weeks into Irish dancing and can't even treble

  • Self taught? Wow! That's terrific. *Takes off his hat and lays it at the feet of the dancer.*

  • really good, I am pretty sure if you if you want to be under a certified dance teacher, so i would suggest going to look for one.

  • what is this song called i love it like irish jigs or reels

  • I have to agree, excellent dancing and beautiful, simple dress!

I don't get why some dancers still wear those awful wigs and tacky dresses...

  • You're great. Don't let anyone tell you differently. I've been doing this for nearly 15 years both Irish step dancing and sean nós (old style). There is a snobbery that exists in the step dancing world that shouldn't be there. It's always been about having fun. Anyone who tells you differently can go enter a beauty pageant and give up the dance. Oh, extra points for the simplicity of your outfit. I hate those gaudy feis dresses that should have died in the 80s.

  • Wow! I am a Irish Dancer too. Good job!

  • This is really good! What music is it?

  • excellent. ive been dancing 3 months and teach myself stuff.trying to make up my own dances welldone amazing job x

  • Really good! Especially for being self taught! I'm pretty sure you do have to be in a school to compete, but I if you get to it, I think you could start in novice or prizewinner and probably move up quickly from there!

  • youre great and thats coming from a preliminary championship dancer

  • holy shit girl you go

  • krap

  • krap

  • krap

  • Great stamina and choreography! Did you keep up with the dancing? Did you ever join a school?

  • You are really a great dancer!!!! What's the music's name?

  • My tongue is so hard right now. Please get fat when you get older. Please.

    And come back on YouTube.

  • hey ya ur a great irish dancer! couple corrections but they're minor, just stay on higher on you're toes and missed a few trebles but other than that it was good! where did u learn some of steps? some looked from riverdance...anyways, if you competed it depends what school you would go to and how long you've competed. you always have to follow along. you start at beginner, then advanced beginner, then when you win 1st, 2nd, or 3rd then you move 2 novice. You'd probably start at novice.

  • Would love to know if this girl has kept up the Irish Dancing! :)

  • Well done for being self taught! I would place you at open prize winner in competition. With lessons refining your skills you would breeze through and make it to preliminary in no time! Way to go! I miss dance so much

  • OMG you are self taught!? O_O that was great well done to you the routine was amazing and what made it even more special was that you coreographed it yourself!!!! keep up the good work it'd be a shame to let your tallent go to waste!!!! :D x

  • that was AWESOME girl, you are a great dancer!

  • i know some of those steps you did! you are really good for teaching yourself, i don't know how you did that! i have done irish dance for 6 years and there are some of those steps i don't know! i think your dance routine was great! :)

  • Hello There, What did you use to self teach yourself, any DVD's or anything because I would like to find out to help teach myself :)

  • May I ask how you so well learned this by yourself? I am begining to self teach myself Irish dancing, and I would love any tips you can give. Thank you. :) It would be much appreciated! You are EXTREMELY good for self taught. :)

  • She is really, really good.

  • You're definitely at a prizewinner level. Remember to control your arms and pull your body up from your stomach - use your stomach muscles like someone is going to punch you in the stomach and draw your body up from that. When you're stepping or doing 7's, don't use your knees to step - keep the leg straight.

    Great job!!

  • Amazing!

  • Wow! Great! Especially as for self-taught!

I wish I had hardshoes... And until then I'm dancing soft dances. ;P

  • 3rd! get up on your toes more! when doing your 123's. some are good others are very flat. keep your hands by your side until your posture is perfect, then ya can move them, good posture can help you balance on your toes! good luck with it! :)

  • Brilliant!! for someone that was never thought properly!! youve got great beats few things though! keep you head up always! dont be looking around you! or at your feet!

second, when doing your double hop's near the 2 min mark. always have your toes pointed to the ground and keep your knees high!

  • can you pleeeeeeeeease put up some more videos of you dancing?!!! maybe some dancing in the soft shoes :)

  • does anyone know where i can get this version of this song?

  • Thats pretty good. I like it

  • Wow, very good for self taught! I don't know what level you'd be because I haven't competed yet but you do have to start from the bottom and work up, you can't just jump in the middle.

  • You're amazing!!!! :) I want to dance like you!

  • What's with all these "Self Taught" dancers on youtube? And that was okay considering you made it up yourself. You'd probably be around novice.

  • You were great! Irish hard shoe dancing combines two thinkgs I like a lot, tap shoes and Irish dance. I hope to take lessons someday. Thanks for the inspiration.

  • Great! Greetings from Belgium! Continue dancing!!! You are doing great!

  • I'm a 13 year old in Open Champs. You have really good beats but you need to add some kick and jumps. I don't see you being anywhere above open prizewinner. Thats what got me, i was stuck in prelims for about four years because i didnt have any really difficult moves in my steps. I switched schools and am doing much better now. : ) I would suggest watching a parade of champions to see where you stand.

  • wow you are rally good because i`m an irish dancer myself and thats really good im prize winner too!! and you are amazing!!

    11 year old

  • remeber to cross ur feet but brilliant dancing oh and u were of time at th beggining but u catched back up again x

  • You're self-taught? Wow! Good stuff! You're a bit off the music at the beginning, but you seem to catch up to it again! Remember to keep your feet crossed =)

  • as an irish dancer in prelim, i do have some critiques.

first off, the choreography seems a bit to rushed in many of the spots. also, some of the footwork needs to be sharpened. by that i mean finishing steps off completely and not bending your knees. also, do not rely on your hands. if you were to compare yourself to being in a feis, your arms moving would dock you marks. other then that, pretty good.

  • bravo!

  • for technical merit youd be floored seeing compeditive they dont use a hard shoe reel youd need at least a set dance and a slip jig so your set would need to be a slow hornpipe and they are very dificult. so dont rush to be in a feis

  • it looks you are prizewinner or championship, that was amazing, you teach yourself well :D

and lol i have the same reel song at my dance studio ^^

  • probably prizewinner!

  • What is the name of the music you were dancing to?

  • @AbiT50 It's called Haughs of Cromdale, I have this music, it's a Scottish set dance.

  • i agree, r u sure u taught ur self! if so, u are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!..... u would be in pre-open for this

  • Yoou are good, buut yoou cant have taught your self.. it has taken me about 3 years too just about get pasted that stagee, it takes about 2 years for someone to get that good... Buut keep it up, you would probably be in the pre open for this.

  • there's NO way you self taught yourself!

  • this is amazing for self teaching! definitely keep it up!

  • looks very nice. You look quite young, I can't tell you what level you could compete on because I know little of Irish dance or judging, but you certainly have skills. I think the first time I threw my leg to the side my knee would keewp going and I would be leaving on crutches, lol. From what I have seen, I think you done a nice job.

  • Once you learn the basics it's not hard to teach yourself. It took me a lot of stopping and rewinding of Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, lol. Plus I had about 5 years formal training.

  • You did beautifully. You had the rythm down and kept it fairly paced. I hope you won a prize for this!

  • You are probably prizewinner. Loved it!

  • wow wish I could dance like that LOL

  • Absolutely great!! Don't stop dancing!

  • how do you teach urself irish dancing? it sounsds like a greatt idea

  • you have a really great talent for irish dancing! being a dancer my self i would say you would be either a novice(3rd level) or prizewinner(4th level) you have great rythm and keep dancing until you cant dance any more!

  • srsly this is amazing!

  • jesus amazing for being self taught. wonderful timing. very nicely done.

  • Absoultely amazing for being self taught. Usually to compete, you have to be in a dance school so find one near you and ask your teacher about what level you could be and show her your dance. You'll move up levels fast.

  • that's good, i also am self taught

  • talent ,dont tell me you are self taught !2 yrs cant believe it!! :)

  • wow! Well done. Keep it up! :)

  • For being self taught, you are amazing. You would get really far with a school and a teacher, as you have natural talent. You would probably be open prizewinner.

  • I love it!!! congratulaions!!

    its beautiful!!!

  • You clearly have an amazing ability being self-taught for only two years duration. However, as others have pointed out, your self-determination will only get you so far.

In order for you to progress and for your talents to be recognised fully, you really need a teacher.

Loved your hair and dress code with regard to their simplicity.

    Impeccable timing.

  • Ive been dancing for 14 years, and youd be in one of the higher intermediate levels, your really good :)

  • i'd suggest some classes, you have a very good sense of beat and well placed feet but there are just some thing you learn at classes that you can't teach yourself! they are well worth it, and you'd do great!

  • WOW!! Really good ! Some tips, Try and keep your head up because sometimes you look down at your feet and keep you head in the direction your going dont keep it to the front but otherwise really good you should put on another video of you dancing well done !!

  • she is really good i have been dancing in schools for 11years and i can't do my treble reel like that i just cant seem to get the trebles in and beats

  • Really good! You'd be a prizewinner, probably.

  • Wow, self-taught? You give me hope... I can't do the lessons thing (too busy, too expensive), but I at least want to learn a little. If I could at least get as good as you I'd be happy. So thank you, I personally think you're amazing.

  • I realize this was over a year ago, so I hope that you have looked into some lessons in that time. I absolutely agree with the other things said. You'd be between a novice and a prizewinner. Your dancing is great but there is always more to work on and I think lessons would provide you with the basic knowledge and technique you could use to make you even better! Kudos on a great performance! I myself danced for 8 years and had to give it up for school and my feet! Glad to see the love continues!

  • that was pretty good.....but you would want to start in begginner if your good in the judges eyes then they'll place ypu high and you can move up from there, i woud suggest taking classes. What is this reel called?

  • how did you teach yourself? I'm in an adult beginner's class and its pretty complicated. I'm starting hard shoe this week. I am a nervous wreck. Your dancing is good. I like it.

  • that was great!

  • Amazing - I love that syncopated bit!

  • awsome!! ;.)

  • Can I ask what's the title of the song?

  • AbSoLuTLeY amazing!!! and you made up tat dance yourself?! that is really really good!!! im teaching myself too to irish dance, but not in hardtoe yet. I am working on the soft shoe. Anyway, GREAT JOB!

  • Yes, I agree - You'd still have to cut your teeth as beginner for a little while but with that spirit and effort you'd progress with flying colours, easy-peasy!

A really, really nice piece of work there :-)

  • Wow!!Absolutely amazing for self taught!! I would still place you in beginner though, if you were to compete. Mainly because it needs to still be a bit more polished. But if you were to go to class, you would fly through all the levels. Especially your treble rhythm is brilliant!! Keep it up and see if you can find a teacher near you.

  • OMGOSH you have ALOT of energy!!!

    reaLLY GOOD!

  • that was awsome cherography.

    Amazingg

  • that was fun! (awesome for self-choreograhped). I'd also rate you at novice level easily. amazing for self-taught. I think lessons would finesse your style beautifully.

  • What I REALLY envy is your stamina. Haha.

  • very nice :)

  • You need to cross your feet!!

  • you are a very good self taught dancer.. but if you started in classes you would have to start beginner thats where everyone starts. Then you would compete to get into the higher ranks as a dancer. Although when you picked up our right foot and crossed and did sevens to the left that was totally not right ! you never do that in irish dancing, but other than that very good job

  • Actually, we can do that in Irish dancing; it's just rarely done.

  • no crap u need to cross your feet in irish dancing ... but i have been dancing for 13 years, and you do not dance to the left with your right fot crossed over it is not done!

  • at 1:16 thats how you do sevens right foot going to the right left foot going to the left... then at 1:22 you dont dance to the left with your right foot crossed over! thats what i mean

  • I know what you mean. And yes, it's strange. But I had a slip jig step where we did that -- we called it a "tippy-tip-step" in the grand tradition of weird names -- it looked more elegant than this, which I tend to call "potty sevens" because it looks more like you have to go to the bathroom than you're dancing.

  • i get wut you are saying now too .. kk there we go we understnad each other lol

  • you're really good! I think you'd either be prizewinner or novice, but that'd also depend on your softshoe and other hardshoe and if you could do that steps that u need to learn for the competitions

  • I envy your double-ups, I'm in OPW and can't do them right/ GAH.

  • Wow, you're really good for being self-taught!

Scratch that, you're just really good!

    :)

  • Wonderful. Women hardshoe solo is my favorite genre, and performance is amasing. Tune is beautiful, too - I don't know it, although listened a lot of jigs and reels.

  • Hey that was a really nice routine, you certainly have talent! You should really get yourself a teacher, you have a few bad habits that need cleaning up (better now than later, believe me!), but other than that, congratulations!

  • Your're really good dancer!

    I like you trebles

  • Just wanted to let you know that I was able to get my husband to watch this video and after I told you that you were self taught and choreographed this dance yourself and had been only dancing for two years at time of the video, he broke into applause and said "That was amazing. Tell her that she is amazing". I think that your video converted him to Irish Dance....he wouldn't watch it before. Thanks!

  • if you start going to a school, the teacher will iron out some of the bad habits. It's really good for someone wo has only been dancing for 2 years though.

also, you probably shouldn't be doing overtoes yet. your feet probably aren't strong enough

  • What are overtoes?

  • When she goes up on her toes....like at 0:58, 1:07 and 1:27-1:29.

    I think....

  • I think overtoes are like toestands, going on the very tips of your shoes, just some schools may have a different name for them.

  • You are an amazing dancer, really. Keep on dancing.

  • i think you relii quite good!! go on gurl go find a skool 2 dance with and start competeing your teacher wuld b amazed i think that u wuld probably b in about the pre open as it is so difficult 2 get any higher than that i hav just about got into the open with mii treble reel but yhoo neva no nythings possible!! good on ya xx

  • holy shit did u put fragments of Celtic in your post?

  • i'm in opens and thats awesome for self teaching! i think you'd be around novice or prizewinner! you should go for it

  • waaa....how can you taught yourself? oh my god...thank you...got to start right now...hm...i don't have hard shoes:((...go for it girl...you will be someone in life...

  • wow well i thimk u could be in open self taught i am amazed wow !!!! I am a guys irish dancer and dude ur good make me wanna go back sooner i stopped frro a while because of my knees keep it up! ^_^

  • thats amazing that you taught yourself! the steps are very traditional. id say kick your butt more. and i think if you compete you'd be in open prizewinner. great job.

  • Awsome job I am an Irish Dancer as well, I think level 4 or 5.! Way to go =)

  • Fantastic for being self taught!! Well done! I'm back in dancing again since I was younger but want to catch up so trying to teach myself! Great to see it can be done!

  • I think you'd be in Prizewinner. Well done! You really should compete. You would do well.

  • im am in prelimss && you are pretty good for teachiing yourselff! if you were to compete i think you would be in novicce! :]

  • i v been dancing for 2 years too, but i can hardly do soft reel, not this!!! coooooool. you re awesome!

  • You could easily learn intermediate steps but I'd start in primary if you competed just for the experience so you can work your way up without freaking out. It's amazing you taught yourself so much and you've done a great job of that choreography! Try to keep your knees together and your feet a little more crossed over, and try to project 'I'm having fun' to the audience- but it looks great already! How are you learning so much on your own? It's great!

  • ive been dancing 8 years and it was great just watch your timing nd down look down and a bit more energy couldnt go a miss!!!!! great job though

  • I have been dancing for 9 years now and i can honestly say you are a very talented dancer good job :D Try not to look down at some parts but that was the only bad thing i had to say. Um i think you could easily get yourself into intermediate grade. Xx

  • I love this song, whats it called?

  • hey a dont mean to sound critical but sometimes you need to watch your timing.

apart from that it was a nice routine.

  • dancing is beautiful and there's not a treble missed! just make ur moves more sharp and dont forget to cross ur feet :)

  • hi there

i also am trying to self teach myslef with the aid of many riverdance video's!!

    how are you learning

  • hi im a novice dancer at irish

dancers of savannah and the dance shouldnt be that long they dont go through the whole song

  • well she was doing a preformance !!

i have done a treble reel a few years ago at a feis and yeah it was short but this was a preformance for like people and ...yeah..

  • very nice :]

its amazing you went through a whole song!

  • I have to give you a round of applause for this dance its amazing, and the fact the your self tought is... wow.

    im an irish dancer myself.

Have you ever been to a feis?

  • u whr great very good i give u a 10 out of 10 *clapz

  • Just out of curiosity, how does one train themselves to do that? That was so impressive.

  • they go to a dance school for isirsh dancing or they learn from thr parents who learned it from a teacher i learned from my dance teacher

  • She said she is self- taught. There is no way that I could teach myself that. I have no discipline.

  • o well book and CD and u have to learn self-discipline

  • *irish*

  • that's amazing that you taught yourself!

  • You are awesome! Excellent work and very inspirational! ^_^

  • good timing.

  • your good i cant tell how your technique is but its looks and sounds good. the only thing that i have heard is that you cant compete unless you belong to a school that is registered w/ some irish org. but keep going because your good.
