@wdrpsp19 Probably one of the most obvious difference is that smoke exists on mac where as flame is a linux only.

Also costs about a 10th of what Flame costs.

However it's missing quite a few nice features like match moving, procedural effects building modules (batch), ....

agreed. Windows movie maker is so much better than After effects, Autodesk Flame, and even Autodesk Inferno. This is because it is microsoft.
