Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf war, Iraq, Afghanistan...they are all wars.
Now, If I am not mistaken, the reason for starting the war in Afghanistan was to prevent it from being a base for al Qaeda and ousting the Taliban regime, who supported al Qaeda. At least we are doing something productive there.
