You carbon lifeforms better get used to your carbon taxes and all you good goyim keep paying your kosher taxes. In Canada our masters from a race chosen by god himself to decide for us, have blessed us with a new harmony tax. May Christ forgive what the leftover christians do to the human parasites when they awaken from their state.
Pathetic attempt. Again, just like his rhetoric, he did not even have the decency to review the you tube reference before condemning. Again, just like his BS that spills from his mouth everyday, he does it again here. He is lazy and one of the worst examples of a politician. A lazy politician!! Attacking or trying to attack someone he knows nothing about. What a fool. He needs to go back to Palm Springs and spend a little more time there frying his noggin in the sun!
How is that a slam? All he did was slam Law as a profession? Darn that guy for not having kids or bills? Chances are he does have bills, they're called student loans....
Normally the HST wouldn't be too terribly bad of an idea. How they implement it however is nothing less than criminal. The HST on goods is set by pricing the item including GST & PST, then taxing the item. So essentially, we are paying taxes, on our taxes that should theoretically no longer exist.
Ironically, ad hominems are a logical fallacy that is tested on the LSAT...seems that Bill's problem with Lawyers is that he wasn't smart enough to be one...
If a business does not pass along the savings from the HST, then its competitors will. Economics 101: things that cost less to make or produce sell for less. Shocking!!
Wow. Yes, shame on the educated man for logically researching and tearing apart your phony act, Bill VS. Hey, here's an idea: watch the video before you make more ridiculous assumptions that make you come off as a pompous ignorant windbag.
As a person with a family and kids, I've got enough on my plate than to put myself through 4 years of university in order to understand a demonstrably complex economy based on decades of data and analyses. Thanks for making me feel all warm and nice on the inside, Bill, because, you know, the validity of the HST depends on gut feelings, right?
I truly can't believe we allow this guy to be a key player in the debate. This is the same Bill Vander Zalm who was thrown out of office for conflict of interest and barely avoided a criminal conviction. This is the same Bill Vander Zalm who ran federally as a REFORM party candidate, now he claims to be a man of the people... surely no one believes a word this guy says.
Isn't Vander sam supposed to be a christian? And isn't the 9th Commandment: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor." If he hasn't watched the video, (and I feel that is a lie too) then he doesn't know the truth of the video or the person. If he doesn't know those, it is false witness.
It is because of people like him and some at my parents church, I started reading more about agnostic books, and no longer believe in Organized Religion of any kind.
Business with the highest proportion of non-labour costs benefit the most form this tax. 7% of non-labour costs are now basically a tax credit, rather than being a tax deduction. For most, this means an additional 5% in their pocket on all non-labour costs. And this all comes out of consumer pockets...plus an additional $800 million that the govt grabs. There was a clear admission FINALLY..that the tax was NOT revenue neutral, as first stated...LOL. As if that was a hard fact to discern..LOL
@paulfornasier Has anyone noticed that business owners, and consumers, are actually.... THE SAME PEOPLE! Holy crap! what a revelation, if small business is better off in BC, we're all better off. And besides, how does it come out of the "consumer pockets" if they pay 12% tax on goods instead of 7+5% tax on goods? Seriously Paul, go educate yourself a little.
@aronlouis Not true....that's total bullshit. If I am a salaried or hourly employee, I don't need to sacrifice myself continually for business owners or corporations...especially the large ones that will make a huge windfall from this tax. Educate yourself please... Consumers pay the extra tax on ALL services and restaurant goods...items that used to only have a 5% GST tax... Are you blind to the change that has happened?? Why don't you guys lay out the TRUTH for once????
@aronlouis I run my business as a corp..so I clearly benefit from the tax. The thing that truly irks me is that NO ONE is clearly outlining what the dynamics of this tax are. I have employees that I actually care about..and I always try to tell them the exact truth of what is happening.. They are getting screwed over on this new tax..no 2 ways about it. They get absolutely NO BENEFIT that I can see. The trickle down theory is plain stupidity. If that happens in any way, it will take years....
@paulfornasier Correct, as a business owner you benefit. You have several choices: You can lower your prices, pay your staff more (since you "actually care about" them), invest the money in a new business, keep it for your kids college fund, etc. Meanwhile, the poorest ~40% of the population will get more in tax savings and HST credits than the HST on the goods now subject to HST will cost them. The people paying more tax overall, are wealthy ones who spend a LOT of money on goods and services.
@aronlouis "wealthy" is not quite right. The middle class hourly or salaried workers will carry the brunt of the tax. Let's not forget that "wealthy" is a very small proportion of our population. I don't characterize "wealthy" as middle class with 2 parents working..etc..and owning a home. Do you realize that the middle class hourly and salaried workers already carry the vast brunt of our tax burden? Both federal and prov tax cuts keep focussing on corp taxes...and other corp tax loopholes.
@aronlouis My real question is...why is no one just stating the EXACT TRUTH of what is happening? AND sorry..no one will be giving away their added profit for no good reason. This issue is about tax burden..it's not up to me to fix it on my end..LOL. Like any corp shareholder, I keep what i get. The tax is not the REAL issue....the issue is about speaking the TRUTH about the tax...and NO ONE is doing so. With the BC Liberals, the added issue is in regard to HONEST communication with taxpayers..
@paulfornasier Well, certainly no one is being honest, and Bill VZ certainly least of all - so Kudos to Chris for exposing him.
I guess we really see how much you "actually care about" your employees though, don't we. And finally, I wish I was your competition, your competitor now has the choice to spend his extra margin stealing your employees, undercutting your prices, expanding; should be fun times for them!
@aronlouis NEITHER side is being honest. Are you a business owner?? If you are..you can care about your employees....pay them well in a relative sense...and still..you would NOT be giving away any profit frivolously. You would be an extreme exception...and likely stupid ..in my opinion..if you did so. I challenge you to be my competitior and undercut my prices...and see where you get. No one I know in construction has lowered their prices due to the HST. You're being ignorant..in my opinion..
@aronlouis Your effort to lay a trip on me..is quite ignorant. If the tax is unfair.....the BC Liberals and the Federal Govt are to blame. It is NOT by responsibility to make up for something that is NOT communicated properly AND is unfair to hourly workers. I show my caring by telling my employees what is actually happehing, so they can make up their mind about the tax, with proper information. This IS caring. it's a political decision to impose this tax....it wasn't MY decision...
@aronlouis AND the problem is that Chris is clearly NOT telling the complete truth. He has also been exposed for outright lies or overstatement in his expose also. AND he clearly leaves out what the REAL dynamics are for this tax. LIke I said earlier, he is rebutting in a way that is similar to right wing FOX news in the US. They rebut what other people say and ridicule them, while never stating what the actual truth is. Colin Hansen and Vander Zalm also LIED and/or left out crucial facts..
@aronlouis One thing I do is urge people to subcontract so they can open an HST account to take advantage of the tax benefit....but hourly or salary employees are paying the full share of the tax, while business owners only pay into the pool on personal purchases..and we know full well that any business owner will claim as much as possible under their business to avoid paying the tax It's plain & simple..it's a transfer to business owners & corporate shareholders...plus an additional $800 mln..
@aronlouis Hey..if it's so true that what benefits business is best for everyone...why don't you just transfer some money to give me additional income? To be blatant..that's what this is.. IS that simple for you?? Come work for me by the hour..and then give me back some of the money you make from me...i'm good with that..LOL. That's like Harper's stupidity of lowing corp and other taxes to the point where he is creating massive deficit, & we're supposed to be deluded that's it's all good..LOL
Problem is that Bill is also lying to a certain point, but Chris Thompson is vry much lying his face off, and twisting statistical figures. Neither side makes it absolutely clear that the tax is being shouldered completely by hourly and salaried workers....by the consumer. It is a major transfer of money from consumers to businesses....as well as an additional $800 million taken from consumers. Who is talking about this MAJOR SHIFT IN TAX BURDEN??
The Zalm man is doing a commendable job. Kevin Falcon is an arsehole with a capital ". These BC Liberal bitches that includes cissty clark are on very high income and have hit spewing from their mouths.

@theKBiz I have no hate for the Liberals but their policy on the issue of the HST.They have fooled you into believing that the HST is good for the province. On the contrary it is the worst thing to bring about and must be axed. Gordon Campbell was no doubt a drunk and a thief for supporting Basi and Virk & corrupt in selling BC rail and bringing down the St. Mary's hospital that we all today suffer the emergency waits and he has done a few good things but this by far is the worst.
@theKBiz The HST is fueling the underground economy. Everyone pays in cash for the services and as a result no TAXs go into the Government Coffers. People have taken their money south of the border no TAXs go into the Government Coffers. People are being pad under the table, Taxi cabs drivers claiming low income and availing to the below income benefits. Basements suits springing up No TAXs paid. Result further increase in TAXs to cover shortfall
Well VanderZalm is still a moron. Why anyone is even buying this guy a coffee, much less flying him around the Province to spout his "knowledge" is beyond me. He as run several businesses into recievership, and been found in conflict of interest by the courts when he was the Premier of the Provice. So let me get this straight, he is a financial nightmare, poor business person, and unethical.
That is a classic example of the BV style. Without seeing the video he takes the one thing he knows, that the video was created by a UBC 'lawyer student', and spins up a smoke screen argument. Knowing the facts would just make refuting them that much more difficult. If you can't attack the facts, attack the man.

Even if you hate the HST, this is bullshit. If Vander Zalm wants to come to the table with something NEW, rather than a reactionary, abolish-it view, I'd be more willing to listen. You don't like the HST, that's great, but the PST/GST system sucked, so come up with something new and better Vander Zalm, or get off the stage.
Plus, the cost of switching back would be worse then anything the HST could do to our economy.
Seems bill has problems checking his facts! What is a bored retiree, loaded with money care anyway, except about his image and his swan'song the HST?? He never had an impressive intellect but it is fading fast.
He's just a law student. Doesn't have a family, kids, mortgage. Bullshit. He probably has 80 000 dollars school debt. What a shitty argument. Actually, just like the rest of his speeches, its just useless falsification and schoolyard verbal retaliation. Its lacking so much in intellectual insight, that he sounds like an elementary school child trying to convince you that his pokemon card is better then yours. Get some real facts and make a legitimate argument not this childish comeback crap.
@sizzleish8me Sure Chris is a student but, he doesn't have to worry about how the HST will affect him because the Liberals just handed him a sizeable chunk of taxpayer money to create a 15 minute long video to sway voters to vote "No" on their ballots. Does it not seem a bit off that the Liberals would lie to voters about imposing the HST then spend hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars in advertisements to persuade them to accept it? Corruption defined.
@skateboard341 Nah... Chris' facts didn't hold much water in the end. The HST is going the way of the Dodo by way of democratic popular vote which, in the end renders his arguments as useless as your comment. You can shut your mouth now and choke on the results.
@Assimilate71 The 1 billion a year film industry is leaving Vancouver to go to Ontario now (Since Ontario has an HST and its a non-issue). Explain to me what will happen when Vancouver loses 1 Billion a year? Mass unemployment? You lose your job? Your real estate goes down in value? BC's jobs are mostly from big business....the HST attracted big business away from Ontario you uneducated redneck.
Ontario's film industry is about to sky rocket! GOOD JOB!
@skateboard341 only a fool would take a few youtube comments and draw the conclusion that the poster were uneducated. What do you know of my scholastic background? I'll bet there's a fairly good chance that it rivals yours in my first year of university. Maybe not... but, if you feel that the loss of our film industry is going to adversely affect the value of my real estate investments and cost me my job then you're sadly mistaken and grossly misinformed. Regardless... goodbye HST!
Let me get this right, when asked about the FightFightHST video which beautifully sums up the lies and misinformation Vander Zalm has been spouting and reveals him to be the attention seeking, truth destroying windbag that he is, his only response is to attack the producer for being educated, possibly having no children and horror of horrors having a law degree! This is truly a sad reflection of the mentality of the Vander Zalm folks.
@highpointe1000 Bill is saying he does not have real life experience yet. I think that is fair to say. Or can Chris criticize Bill but Bill must show some sort of respect for Chris?
I don't think Chris's video pulls many punches. Moreover, no matter how hard you believe everything the video asserts is not correct
Why should anyone pull punches when pointing out his weaknesses? What you are saying is don't criticize the government Bill and don't criticize Chris for criticizing Bill.
@OlegKostoglatov You don't have to be pro liberal to agree with the HST... But if were making assumptions are you an unemployed, alcoholic... or an arts major who thinks they know everything because they have access to the internet. Or maybe just an anarchist who thinks that the government is big brother....
@VelariousAmroth I'm sorry but you pretty much have to be pro Liberal, a member of the smart tax alliance, or one of the other astroturfer groups, to troll every anti HST comment on You Tube. The fact is every provincial political party in BC, other then the BC Liberals, is anti HST, the only ones campaigning in favor of it are B.C Liberal campaign workers, B.C Liberal donors, and their staff. Someone who is apolitical is not going to comment and argue on each and every HST video like you have.
@OlegKostoglatov Interesting, as i am 100% sure i haven't. But maybe you can get your facts straight and then re-post. And while were on that, you might want to check your facts on who supports the HST; because its significantly broader then you claim. For example the Federal government prior to a conservative majority supported it, in addition to the business community, economists, and most qualified university professors. (Qualified, as in have degrees in related fields.)
Dude, Vander Zalm...that is ABSOLUTELY IRRELEVANT! The guy presents facts and destructs your entire argument , and you bitch about him being AN EDUCATED PERSON rather than a parents?
Basically, SCREW YOU CHRIS FOR BEING YOUNG AND PRESENTING FACTS!
You carbon lifeforms better get used to your carbon taxes and all you good goyim keep paying your kosher taxes.

The funny thing is Billy Boy said the HST hurts " students". Isn't Chris a STUDENT!
sizzleish8me 8 months ago 13
@sizzleish8me Sure Chris is a student but, he doesn't have to worry about how the HST will affect him because the Liberals just handed him a sizeable chunk of taxpayer money to create a 15 minute long video to sway voters to vote "No" on their ballots. Does it not seem a bit off that the Liberals would lie to voters about imposing the HST then spend hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars in advertisements to persuade them to accept it? Corruption defined.

@Assimilate71 why dont you open your mouth when you have facts related to the HST's impact. Thanks
skateboard341 5 months ago

GOOD JOB!
skateboard341 5 months ago
@skateboard341 only a fool would take a few youtube comments and draw the conclusion that the poster were uneducated. What do you know of my scholastic background? I'll bet there's a fairly good chance that it rivals yours in my first year of university. Maybe not... but, if you feel that the loss of our film industry is going to adversely affect the value of my real estate investments and cost me my job then you're sadly mistaken and grossly misinformed. Regardless... goodbye HST!

Bill Vander Zalm isn't very smart
mrghohl9 8 months ago

Hmm, I see that all the pro HST B.C Liberal astroturfers are hard at work here too.
OlegKostoglatov 8 months ago
@OlegKostoglatov You don't have to be pro liberal to agree with the HST... But if were making assumptions are you an unemployed, alcoholic... or an arts major who thinks they know everything because they have access to the internet. Or maybe just an anarchist who thinks that the government is big brother....
VelariousAmroth 8 months ago
@VelariousAmroth I'm sorry but you pretty much have to be pro Liberal, a member of the smart tax alliance, or one of the other astroturfer groups, to troll every anti HST comment on You Tube. The fact is every provincial political party in BC, other then the BC Liberals, is anti HST, the only ones campaigning in favor of it are B.C Liberal campaign workers, B.C Liberal donors, and their staff. Someone who is apolitical is not going to comment and argue on each and every HST video like you have.
OlegKostoglatov 8 months ago
@OlegKostoglatov Interesting, as i am 100% sure i haven't. But maybe you can get your facts straight and then re-post. And while were on that, you might want to check your facts on who supports the HST; because its significantly broader then you claim. For example the Federal government prior to a conservative majority supported it, in addition to the business community, economists, and most qualified university professors. (Qualified, as in have degrees in related fields.)

Wow. That statement is about as good as the report and "facts" Chris tears apart in his video.
