    How do you make it so that the soup isn't too sweet?...because I've tasted alot of eggdrop soups from different chinese take outs here, and some of them seem to have a sweetness to it?...how can i lighten the sweetness?

  • @XxShinGokuxX Some places may add a bit of sugar in their soup. This recipe does not have any sugar added, it isn't sweet at all :)

    I tried making it last night, and it did not look very appetizing, it looked nothing like how yours did, I used one whole can of chicken broth, and everything else was just as you said, but instead I used 3 eggs because I figured I wanted more eggs in mine, but then it ended up that my broth was very thick and mushy, and so were my eggs? what could I have done wrong? Was it because I added 3 eggs instead of 1?...

  • Well, believe it or not I HATE soup and have only associated it as something you have to eat if you're deathly ill! LOL HOWEVER, for some strange reason I've been craving something to eat that's not heavy. A co-worker suggested egg drop soup (something I've never heard of). I found your video today and you make it look SO simple. So, against my objections to soup...I'm going to step out of the box and try it! I'll let you know how it turns out. Wish me luck! Thanks

  • @praisehymn247The jury is out after much deliberation...I absolutely LOVED it! The instructions are so simple even a cave man can do it. I first tried it with low sodium broth which wound up having no taste to me. I strongly advise you to follow this recipie to a T and use regular broth. I think I'll park here for a while and watch some more of your videos. Lila also give a list of many other ingredients you could add to this, so I'll have fun experimenting. Keep up the good work!

  • Just made this, I stirred the egg too much & over cooked it a bit I think, it was way too stringy. Next time I'll pour it around the pan without stirring & serve it right away. Also put way too much soy sauce in, oops. D:

  • @AnaLopesss Hi - You can make the broth from the cubes. I think it is usually one cup of water for each cube (check the instructions on the cube to see exactly how much water to add) so here you would want to use 4 cubes and 4 cups of water. Just Place the cubes into boiling water until they dissolve and then you can continue with this recipe :)

  • Also, i've tried making this a few times the past two days since my dental work still hurts (I'm very thankful for your recipe!) and I wanted to have a little bit of thicker egg to go with this delicious broth. I just made it and added a little bit of baking powder to the egg/water mixture. It's been an one of my mom's tricks, and it helps even with scrambling eggs to make them fluffier. It turned out really good!

  • I halved this recipe to go with a light snack once some anethesia wore off from some dental work I had done today. I used the full amount of sherry and garlic, and used boullion cubes instead of broth because I was in a fix, used a whole egg and it turned out wonderfully! It was perfect for one serving. Thank you for posting this!

  • @Teddybear419 Hi - I never knew there was a definitive word for that way of eating - I used to be pretty much the same way before I met my husband. I mainly ate fish and vegetables, and once in a blue moon chicken.

    Anyway, for the broth you can use a vegetable broth and then just add in some green onion, garlic, and ginger for extra flavor :)

  • @Immad1337 lolz i'm still able to eat eggs. a pescatarian consists of being both lacto/ovo vegetarian, meaning that i can consume dairy products and also eggs. Besides, egg can't be classified as a meat product thats dereived from chickens. since underdeveloped eggs aren't fertilized, it can't make the actual chicken/bird. So ya, technically it can't be meat, its just protein and a few calories. So don't shout out shit that you dont know u fuck

  • @elliments Try stiring in one direction and use a spoon. Be sure to put your thickener in first. Hope that helps a bit :D

  • here's a quick tip for adding the egg if you're making a larger quantity of E.D.Soup > when adding the egg, try putting the well-beaten egg into a ziplock bag w/ a tiny hole poked into the corner of it..When adding the egg just gently squeeze the egg thru the hole into the hot stock..It creates a nice ribbon of egg & looks nice ..very non messy too.

  • I use a can of creamed style corn, which has enough residual starch to thicken the soup without using the corn flour and gives you Chicken and Sweetcorn soup chinese style I guess.

  • @gaymuraki You can use shao hsing wine, or you can leave it out. Leaving It out will change the flavor just slightly, but it will still be good :)
