Just a question. Would you know where Will's Hill and Wilkins Pond are? I'm a descendant of Bray Wilkins and I've been trying to figure out where that land is located. All I've got to go on is Upham's map, and place names appear to have changed since then. Thanks in advance.
Do the people who's houses but up to this hill know that it's the likely location of the hangings? If it was my house it'd be like winning the lottery if I knew it happened in my backyard. That'd be awesome. Grisly, but awesome.
@08BurtonT6rider I wondered the same thing when I shot the video. I'm not sure though. I don't think this location is well known. I wouldn't be surpirsed if they had no clue.
This is really cool, it makes a lot of since. If I happen to go down to Salem this Halloween I want to see this spot. I'm related to the two Parker women accused of witchcraft. I love any thing to do with history and my family heritage, this alone could be well worth my trip.
@Varney86 Thanks. I'm currently working on another video of Salem Village locations you might want to check out. Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss it.
@DoctorColonelGonzo This is indeed a fascinating video. I descend several times over from Susannah (North) Martin, who was executed in Salem. Susannah and several other victims were, as you mention, "thrust into a shallow grave in a crevice of felsite." Presumably this crevice was on Gallow's Hill... Does Sidney Perley's research indicate the presence of a felsite crevice on the site he identified? This felsite crevice is the key identifier in the entire mystery.
This is a very informative video. I am planning my first trip up there this summer and I'd like to visit all the places that are real, and underground, not just all the tourist traps. thank you for the info!
@theashpesh Thanks for the good feedback. If your planning a trip to the area and want the Salem experience you should probably visit Danvers, MA as well as Salem. Back then Danvers was Salem Village and most of the incidents around the witch hysteria actually occurred there. Be sure to visit the Rebecca Nurse house. She was one of the accused and executed witches and her home in Danvers is preserved from it's original state and gives you the best feel of Old Salem Village.
@soulfinger Good call. Seems like Upham wasn't really concerned with the exact location. He was pretty close though. The two hills are right down the street from each other. Glad you enjoyed!
Great video! On my first visit to Salem I expected all these landmarks to be well known. However, We got caught up in all of the tourist traps! Now this time, with careful research and your video, we can really enjoy our visit to Historic Salem!

@DoctorColonelGonzo As far as I know, they should be around Middleton, MA. The pond is on the south side of the hill.

Excellent video. I never heard of Perley and his research until I saw this.
I think Perley's location of Gallows Hill is FAR more plausible than Upham's.
