Ruddock's Smash is a powerful three quarters uppercut. He leads with his left, making his opponent think he is going to throw a right cross. Then he uses this move and catches his foe off guard.

Notice Ruddock leave both his right and left guard down as he builds power. He also uses left hooks and short uppers, not just the Smash. However, if he misses he is wide open. Its slow speed also opens up for counters by left hook or right cross. Mike Tyson takes advantage of this in his fight.

The idea is to lower your guard to make your opponent think there is an opening and as they come in you swing into their momentum, dodging their attack to connect with your own devastating punch, and with the momentum of them comming into your connection would result in a deadly knockout.

all that stuff are just typical punch variations, nothing "special" with it. Ippo's gazelle punch is just a really heavy "jolting" uppercut. Sendo's smash (love how he does it in the anime) is just a "smash"

the dempsey roll is just bobbing and weaving, mike tyson actually nearly perfected it. Flicker is a real punch that stings like a bitch. Miyata's "jolt counter" is just a really hard cross counter.

i'd want to see how they would portray Manny Pacquiao in the anime :P
