@kitten0183 'Soapless' soap doesn't contain lye or other acid based ingredients. You can also find 'soapless' shampoos, which are great for colored hair. The idea is that these mild 'soapless' versions strip less than their acidic conterparts.

I don't know how to explain it other than it is a type of detergent not made from soap. To be more specific it is artificial and not made from fatty acids like soap is.
