Have you ever did a chord chart for this song. I was able to get most of them but there is a couple I have not got yet. That 2nd chord is a G-13 I think
@jottie77 Everything is done by Heart, nothing written down. I have about 30 finger style tunes scored which I sell,so if you're interested I could send you my (finger-style) tutorial with all relevant Info, greets Vic.
I could listen to this music all day. I wish more people did music like this today. Thank you. What brand of guitars do you use? Look forward to more. One looks like an Ibanez GB10
@ClaNan Thank you, well this music requires great craftsmanship and understanding theory, many beat around the bush avoiding the hard work. Too much distractions these days , instead of studying it's playing computer games. This is a Epiphone-Rivera and I do own a GB20 (Ibanez) there are many videos where i use the GB20,greetings Vic.
@MoarOfTehRawkege Yes it's a very strange name indeed, but when you start punchin' in names to start a channel and every possible name is taken then you might start trying some mighty weird Stuff,Vic.
@Jazzguts cmon man, why see the negative sides instead of seeing the extremely few postitive sides. theres good in ALL music.. theres something to learn from everything. all experience is good experience.
@niggerfuckshitreborn Well to use your own words, "extremely few positive sides",sure I can relate to that. And to be honest there's good and bad Music and when I listen to a bunch a guys who can't even tune their instruments that's a bad experience for my ears. Vic.
@Jazzguts that bad experience doesnt make you a worse musician in anyway. you'll be more experienced for enduring what u think is crap. i dont know.. my teacher told me to always listen to everything regardless of genre merely for the experience.. be it good or bad and ive always followed that "philosophy".
@niggerfuckshitreborn In the sense your Teacher means it,I can understand,I also listen to many genres of Music and enjoy that. But I hear too much guys here on the Tube who haven't done their homework and uploading a bunch of crap instead of isolating themselves and studying hard to play something worthwhile that has a nice level, that's my Idea.
@Examinerthrash Lady Gaga may be known for her stuff that is played on the radio every five seconds, but she's a hell of a musician. She studied music in New York before writing music for Interscope Records. Not to take away from what you were saying because I full-heart-idly agree, but just to say that there are a few popular musicians today with actual talent, :P
@BrianS198 I agree on what you said about her talent, but I don't like the radio format thing in which every Artist is forced, you may not this you may not that, this has certainly killed the creativity of many folks, every time a good tune with a guitar solo is played you can bet your life that the solo is always faded out, everything has to be within 3 minutes, such a limitation,Vic.
Hi Vic. After lisening your performance playing Gril from Ipanema I am sure that you have bossa nova virus in your blood. Congratulations!!! Is the one of the best performance that I coul listening.
@lucaseugenioquintao Thank you very much, the Bossa Nova and Samba has always caught my ear as excellent Music to broaden one's horizon in terms of great chord sequences and improvisation, cheers Vic.

That's another nice one. Usually i hate this number, a result of visiting to much elevators and cheesy restaurants- and that Astrid Gulberto makes me go Aaaaaaah! (not in good way). But this I like.
Thanks CrazyWorld65, I know exactly what you mean, I'm not fond of Gilberto myself, but when you look through all these things it still remains a fine composition and the Brige is real jummy with fine chord progression, greets Vic.

Really like the intro/first chorus to this song, where you combine the "two worlds" of solo and and still supproting the rythum, shows you are a grounded player.
the solo was faultless as usual.
Not the easiest tune to play over.
My little sister has just sent me the Romero Lubambo DVD with bossa studies, heck, there is just so much to learn.
Yeah Jimmy, sometimes I just want to give up everything, I'm in a minor tone man, I know it sounds strange, but I sometimes get this feeling it doesn't matter what I do, the world goes on and on and what the hack, I'm just a screw in the big Mill,if you know what I mean? I'm not ashamed but I feel really down man, as if I'm a kind of entertainment machine, what's the sense, Vic.
I've looked at about a dozen of your latest clips and you have a heap of views and a heap of great comments from people all over the world. That you may help or affect just one person in a positive way is a miracle; and you've done it many many times over through you tube and your guitar.
Thanks dragondix, glad with your comment, what you wrote is very healing for the Soul, which needs that positive vibe once and a while, I'm very grateful for your well meant words, greets Vic.
PS Am I right in thinking you are still playing the minor sevenths at the bridge but the second two are different voicings i'e' not confined to the d to high e strings. Gives more depth?
Hi 765... well most mi7 positions are the common ones with the bass on the low E string but here I also use Gm9 in 10th position with root on A string, love those voicings, greetings Vic.
I know i was wrong but this is the very first tune I learned on guitar - actual published chords - so it means loads to me. Also my stint in Brazil meant I got lots of influence from great players. Once again tho - you're right on it especially the improv. Thanks.
This is one of the nicest renditions of this great tune I have ever heard. I absolutely love your playing. That is a beautiful sounding instrument as well. How did you record it?
Thanks kdkmo, I work with a small 4 channel Spirit mixer where guitar signal and backingtrack are mixed together in stereo before going to the audio port of my Mac,that's it,nice and simple, greets Vic.
Thanks lavndrpreluv, glad you're into my Stuff, there's a lot to listen on my channel, enjoy yourself, drop a comment now and then so we'll stay in touch,gr Vic.
You're an incredible guitarist. This is another all-time favorite of mine ... just lovely.
My dad was a jazz guitarist and I can see that I will be coming to your beautiful channel a million times over ... I thank Roeleke for leading me here.
Thanks Carol, you're very welcome always, Roeleke is a good friend and a wonderful person,I think you'll recognize many tunes from this Era( so rich in melody and harmony) Will visit your channel and respond your mail soon, first I've got to give some music lessons, greets my friend,Vic.
Victor ,That was beauitful guitar playing my friend.Playing with so much feeling your notes and chords are spot on..5 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆..Marc Jones Vocalist...Los Angeles.U.S.A.
Ha Roeleke,my dear friend, again one my Vids goes around to the community, and what a beautiful community is with so much talent, take Glenn what a wonderful soulful singer, and Roeleke improvising on her Organ(getting better all the time)that's the Spirit girl, show the people you're there, hug Vic.
Thanks Glenn, I like your repertoire choice man and your Soulful voice goes along so well, a real pleasure(and more than that) listening to you,you sing with your heart and there you can't go wrong, keep in touch ,Victor.
Hello Again Victor, Can you tell me what arrangement you did on Girl From Ipanema? Was this totally your arrangement, or from sheet music originally..This is one I have been trying to learn for quite a while, but I would love your arrangement..Again, Great job, love all your videos..Keep them coming..
Hi Boney, This is my own arrangement (head-arrangement) I'm sorry I don't have it on paper, you can try to get it by ear and look at my vid, this way I've always learned all my Stuff,no Tabs, greets Vic.
Thanks Roeleke, thanks for sending my new finger-style arrangement round my lady, now I've got blisters on my fingers responding to all the comments,LOL,greets Vic.
Hey Vic, very nice version you play there. I only learned playing the chords at guitar lessons and this sounds so great. This song is great! Thanks for another nice song.
Also about this elevator music debate, I'd say that elevator music often has jazz harmony, it is in fact jazz (with all its complexity) and sometimes very good jazz, only with a very smooth sound and very constant rhythm (which suits as background music).
Hi Greenlentils, you're right in your explanation, and I have no trouble that good jazz is used as background music, when the good listener is sitting in the lounge his ear detects many facets that tickles the mind while others keep on chatting and the little Music Pearls are lost for them, greets Vic.
Welcome back Victor! I like your version, if I have to find something I'd say the melody is a bit quiet, well that's a matter of taste, but when you switch to solo improvising it's great and dynamic as usual.
Congratulations!
Excellent interpretation

PS Am I right in thinking you are still playing the minor sevenths at the bridge but the second two are different voicings i'e' not confined to the d to high e strings. Gives more depth?
7645615 2 years ago
Hi 765... well most mi7 positions are the common ones with the bass on the low E string but here I also use Gm9 in 10th position with root on A string, love those voicings, greetings Vic.
Glad you liked my improv
Jazzguts 2 years ago
I know i was wrong but this is the very first tune I learned on guitar - actual published chords - so it means loads to me. Also my stint in Brazil meant I got lots of influence from great players. Once again tho - you're right on it especially the improv. Thanks.

kdkmo 2 years ago
Thanks kdkmo, I work with a small 4 channel Spirit mixer where guitar signal and backingtrack are mixed together in stereo before going to the audio port of my Mac,that's it,nice and simple, greets Vic.

Hey, you're awesome!
May I ask you two little questions?
First, which are the two chords you pay at 1:16 and 1:17 ?
And finally, in which scale / s are you improvising?

Also about this elevator music debate, I'd say that elevator music often has jazz harmony, it is in fact jazz (with all its complexity) and sometimes very good jazz, only with a very smooth sound and very constant rhythm (which suits as background music).
greenlentils 3 years ago
Hi Greenlentils, you're right in your explanation, and I have no trouble that good jazz is used as background music, when the good listener is sitting in the lounge his ear detects many facets that tickles the mind while others keep on chatting and the little Music Pearls are lost for them, greets Vic.
Jazzguts 3 years ago
Welcome back Victor! I like your version, if I have to find something I'd say the melody is a bit quiet, well that's a matter of taste, but when you switch to solo improvising it's great and dynamic as usual.
greenlentils 3 years ago
great playing vic! a really soothing tune :)
