I am so familar with the strips. I can give you a bit of advice. Do not get discouraged if you hit a scale plateau. These strips remind you that you are still in the game.
That is good news. The shades of the ketone strips once you hit the pink levels are more about hydration levels not fat burning levels. You are absolutely in that fat burning zone, and your fat cells are running for cover.
No, I am not on Atkin, I am on Bonnie's low carb experimenting after a month..I am picky eater sometimes..I have the book and I support what it says, but don't follow it totally, just use it as guideline and also other low carber on YT. I got the ketostix at Target pharmacy, most pharmacy (Walgreens)?should sell them but not that common anymore.
well, its hard, but I was a carb o holic...keeping me from dropping weight , I ate low cal, low fat and was starving all this time, now no hunger, eating little carbs, but healthy veggies..and lean meats and proteins..
I have never used those sticks before.. I can always tell by the fact i need to chew gum cause sometimes i get a nasty taste in my mouth and my mental alertness skyrockets.. AWESOME about the no bread thing.. how many carbs are you consuming in a day?
Its a great sign, dont equate the colour to amount of loss, its like weighing yourself, its only an indicator, you can also physically feel the effects, bit more alert, active and energetic. If it does go neutrel, dont panic, check your diet, take the carbs down again - and away you go. Youre so brilliant - period.
no, its just a tool to me, like the scale..I just bought them out of curiosity and used them in the past..I remember seeing purple..9 years ago, but didn't know much about low carb, or educated back then, now I am...I am low carb educated...my way, what works for me..I have Atkin's book for guidelines..info from alot of reading and understanding, plus I see my doctor regular...not sure if he agrees..but my BP needs to get lower and it is getting there..
Good job! A week without bread! You only need a 'trace' of ketone to lose weight. I was losing a pound a day 7 years ago. Now it's about a pound a week, but that's still good. lol. Atkins works! Ketosis can be hard on your kidneys and bones unless you drink enough fluids and take your calcium. The water helps flush out the fat. I make a gallon at a time of lemonaid sweetened with stevia. Or a gallon of decaf chai ice tea. I don't leave home without my 16oz tupperware tumbler with straw.
